¹He who is wounded in the stones, or has his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the assembly of Yahweh.

¹(H23:2)"Ketään, jonka kivekset on murskattu tai jonka elin on leikattu, ei saa lukea Herran kansaan kuuluvaksi.

²A bastard shall not enter into the assembly of Yahweh; even to the tenth generation shall none of his enter into the assembly of Yahweh.

²(H23:3)"Ketään, joka on syntynyt kielletystä suhteesta, ei saa lukea Herran kansaan kuuluvaksi. Ketään hänen jälkeläisistäänkään, edes kymmenennestä sukupolvesta, ei saa lukea Herran kansan joukkoon.

³An Ammonite or a Moabite shall not enter into the assembly of Yahweh; even to the tenth generation shall none belonging to them enter into the assembly of Yahweh forever:

³(H23:4)"Ketään ammonilaista tai moabilaista ei saa lukea Herran kansaan kuuluvaksi. Kukaan heidän jälkeläisistäänkään, edes kymmenennestä sukupolvesta, ei pääse Herran kansan joukkoon.

⁴because they didn’t meet you with bread and with water in the way, when you came forth out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.

⁴(H23:5) He eivät antaneet teille ruokaa eivätkä juomaa, kun te olitte tulossa Egyptistä, vaan palkkasivat Bileamin, Beorin pojan Mesopotamian Petorista, kiroamaan teidät.

⁵Nevertheless Yahweh your God wouldn’t listen to Balaam; but Yahweh your God turned the curse into a blessing to you, because Yahweh your God loved you.

⁵(H23:6)Mutta Herra, teidän Jumalanne, ei suostunut kuulemaan Bileamia, vaan muutti kirouksen siunaukseksi, koska hän rakastaa teitä.

⁶You shall not seek their peace nor their prosperity all your days forever.

⁶(H23:7) Älkää milloinkaan koko elinaikananne tehkö mitään, mikä edistää heidän menestystään ja hyvinvointiaan.

⁷You shall not abhor an Edomite; for he is your brother: you shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you lived as a foreigner in his land.

⁷(H23:8)"Älkää vieroksuko edomilaisia; he ovat teidän veljiänne. Älkää vieroksuko myöskään egyptiläisiä, sillä te olette olleet muukalaisina heidän maassaan.

⁸The children of the third generation who are born to them shall enter into the assembly of Yahweh.

⁸(H23:9)Näiden jälkeläisiä voidaan kolmannesta sukupolvesta alkaen ottaa Herran kansan joukkoon.

⁹When you go forth in camp against your enemies, then you shall keep yourselves from every evil thing.

⁹(H23:10)"Kun lähdette sotaan vihollisianne vastaan ja asetutte leiriin, karttakaa kaikkea epäpuhtautta.

¹⁰If there is among you any man who is not clean by reason of that which happens him by night, then shall he go outside of the camp. He shall not come within the camp:

¹⁰(H23:11)Jos joku teistä on yöllisen siemenvuodon takia epäpuhdas, hänen on mentävä leirin ulkopuolelle ja pysyttävä siellä.

¹¹but it shall be, when evening comes on, he shall bathe himself in water; and when the sun is down, he shall come within the camp.

¹¹(H23:12)Illansuussa hänen on peseydyttävä, ja vasta auringonlaskun aikaan hän saa palata leiriin.

¹²You shall have a place also outside of the camp, where you shall go forth abroad:

¹²(H23:13)"Teillä tulee olla leirin ulkopuolella paikka, missä voitte käydä tarpeillanne.

¹³and you shall have a paddle among your weapons; and it shall be, when you sit down abroad, you shall dig therewith, and shall turn back and cover that which comes from you:

¹³(H23:14)Varusteidenne joukossa teillä tulee olla pieni lapio, jolla kaivatte ulosteitanne varten kuopan ja peitätte jälkenne.

¹⁴for Yahweh your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you, and to give up your enemies before you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that he may not see an unclean thing in you, and turn away from you.

¹⁴(H23:15)Herra, teidän Jumalanne, kulkee leirissänne, suojelee teitä ja antaa vihollisenne teidän käsiinne. Sen tähden leirin on oltava pyhä, niin ettei hän näe siellä mitään sopimatonta eikä jätä teitä.

¹⁵You shall not deliver to his master a servant who is escaped from his master to you:

¹⁵(H23:16)"Älkää luovuttako takaisin orjaa, joka on isäntänsä käsistä paennut teidän luoksenne.

¹⁶he shall dwell with you, in the midst of you, in the place which he shall choose within one of your gates, where it pleases him best: you shall not oppress him.

¹⁶(H23:17)Hän saa jäädä asumaan keskuuteenne ja valita vapaasti asuinpaikkansa. Älkää käyttäkö hyväksenne hänen ahdinkoaan.

¹⁷There shall be no prostitute of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

¹⁷(H23:18)"Kukaan israelilainen nainen tai mies ei saa ryhtyä harjoittamaan haureutta minkään jumalan kunniaksi.

¹⁸You shall not bring the hire of a prostitute, or the wages of a dog, into the house of Yahweh your God for any vow: for even both these are an abomination to Yahweh your God.

¹⁸(H23:19)Haureudesta saatua palkkiota, olipa se maksettu naiselle tai miehelle, ei saa viedä Herran, teidän Jumalanne, pyhäkköön minkään lupauksen täyttämiseksi. Se on iljetys Herralle, teidän Jumalallenne.

¹⁹You shall not lend on interest to your brother; interest of money, interest of food, interest of anything that is lent on interest:

¹⁹(H23:20)"Älä peri toiselta israelilaiselta korkoa rahasta, ruoasta äläkä mistään muustakaan, mitä yleensä korkoa vastaan lainataan.

²⁰to a foreigner you may lend on interest; but to your brother you shall not lend on interest, that Yahweh your God may bless you in all that you put your hand to, in the land where you go in to possess it.

²⁰(H23:21) Vierasmaalaiselta voit periä korkoa mutta maanmieheltäsi et. Kun noudatat näitä määräyksiä, Herra, sinun Jumalasi, siunaa sinua kaikissa toimissasi siinä maassa, jonka nyt menet ottamaan haltuusi.

²¹When you shall vow a vow to Yahweh your God, you shall not be slack to pay it: for Yahweh your God will surely require it of you; and it would be sin in you.

²¹(H23:22)"Kun annat lupauksen Herralle, Jumalallesi, täytä se viivyttelemättä, sillä Herra vaatii sinut tilille lupauksestasi ja sinä joudut sen täyttämättä jättämisestä syynalaiseksi.

²²But if you shall forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in you.

²²(H23:23)Sitä, ettet anna lupauksia, ei lasketa sinulle synniksi.

²³That which is gone out of your lips you shall observe and do; according as you have vowed to Yahweh your God, a freewill offering, which you have promised with your mouth.

²³(H23:24)Jos kuitenkin olet vapaaehtoisesti antanut suullisen lupauksen Herralle, Jumalallesi, sinun on täytettävä se tarkoin.

²⁴When you come into your neighbor’s vineyard, then you may eat of grapes your fill at your own pleasure; but you shall not put any in your vessel.

²⁴(H23:25)"Kun tulet jonkun viinitarhaan, voit syödä rypäleitä mielin määrin kunnes olet kylläinen, mutta astiaan et saa niitä kerätä.

²⁵When you come into your neighbor’s standing grain, then you may pluck the ears with your hand; but you shall not move a sickle to your neighbor’s standing grain.

²⁵(H23:26)Kun kuljet viljapellon halki, voit käsin kerätä tähkäpäitä, mutta sirpillä et saa leikata itsellesi toisen viljaa.
