¹This is what Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

¹Sana Juudasta ja Jerusalemista. Jesajan, Amosin pojan, näky.

²It shall happen in the latter days, that the mountain of Yahweh’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it.

²Tulee vielä aika, jolloin Herran pyhäkön vuori seisoo lujana. Ylimpänä vuorista se kohoaa, korkeimpana kukkuloista, ja kansat virtaavat sinne.

³Many peoples shall go and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.

³Monet kansat lähtevät liikkeelle sanoen: -- Tulkaa, nouskaamme Herran vuorelle, nouskaamme Jaakobin Jumalan pyhäkköön! Hän opastaa meitä tiellään, ja me, me tahdomme kulkea hänen polkujaan, sillä Siionista tulee Herran sana ja Jerusalemista kaikuu Jumalan puhe.

⁴He will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

⁴Hän, Herra, ratkaisee kansanheimojen riidat, hän jakaa oikeutta kaikille kansoille. Niin taotaan miekat auran teriksi ja keihäät vesureiksi. Yksikään kansa ei enää kohota miekkaa toista vastaan eikä harjoittele sotataitoja.

⁵Jaakobin lapset, tulkaa, vaeltakaamme Herran valossa!

⁶For you have forsaken your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled from the east, with those who practice divination like the Philistines, and they clasp hands with the children of foreigners.

⁶Herra, sinä olet hylännyt kansasi, olet hylännyt Jaakobin lapset. Heidän maansa on täynnä idän tapoja, se on ennustajien vallassa kuin filistealaisten maa, muukalaisia tulvillaan.

⁷Their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures. Their land also is full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots.

⁷Heidän maansa on täynnä kultaa ja hopeaa, sen aarteilla ei ole määrää, heidän maansa on täynnä hevosia eikä vaunuilla ole loppua.

⁸Their land also is full of idols. They worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.

⁸Heidän maansa on täynnä epäjumalia, kättensä töitä he kumartavat, sormiensa luomuksia palvovat.

⁹Man is brought low, and mankind is humbled; therefore don’t forgive them.

⁹Mutta ihminen joutuu nöyrtymään, miehen on pakko kumartua. Herra, älä anna anteeksi heille!

¹⁰Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust, from before the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty.

¹⁰Paetkaa vuorten uumeniin, piiloutukaa maan tomuun Herran kauhistuttavan voiman tieltä, hänen ylhäisen kirkkautensa tieltä!

¹¹The lofty looks of man will be brought low, the haughtiness of men will be bowed down, and Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day.

¹¹Ylpeät silmät nöyrtyvät, ylpeä varsi taipuu, sinä päivänä Herra yksin on ylhäinen.

¹²For there will be a day of Yahweh of Armies for all that is proud and haughty, and for all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low:

¹²Sillä Herran Sebaotin päivä iskee kaikkeen ylpeään ja korkeaan, kaikkeen mahtavaan ja ylhäiseen, niin että se vaipuu maahan.

¹³For all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, for all the oaks of Bashan,

¹³Se iskee kaikkiin Libanonin setreihin, korkeihin ja ylpeihin, ja kaikkiin Basanin tammiin,

¹⁴For all the high mountains, for all the hills that are lifted up,

¹⁴se iskee kaikkiin korkeihin vuoriin ja kaikkiin ylhäisiin kukkuloihin,

¹⁵For every lofty tower, for every fortified wall,

¹⁵jokaiseen ylpeään torniin se iskee ja jokaiseen murtumattomaan muuriin,

¹⁶For all the ships of Tarshish, and for all pleasant imagery.

¹⁶se iskee rantojen huvipursiin ja kauas merelle purjehtiviin laivoihin.

¹⁷The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; and Yahweh alone shall be exalted in that day.

¹⁷Ylpeä ihminen nöyrtyy, hänen täytyy taipua, korskeat miehet vaipuvat maahan. Sinä päivänä Herra yksin on ylhäinen

¹⁸ja epäjumalat väistyvät, joka ikinen.

¹⁹Men shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily.

¹⁹Paetkaa vuorten luoliin, maan onkaloihin Herran kauhistuttavan voiman tieltä, hänen ylhäisen kirkkautensa tieltä, kun hän nousee järisyttämään maata!

²⁰In that day, men shall cast away their idols of silver, and their idols of gold, which have been made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

²⁰Sinä päivänä ihmiset heittävät menemään hopeajumalansa ja kultajumalansa, jotka he ovat tehneet kumarrettavikseen. Myyrille ja lepakoille he ne heittävät

²¹To go into the caverns of the rocks, and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from before the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily.

²¹paetessaan vuorten koloihin ja kallioiden halkeamiin Herran kauhistuttavan voiman tieltä, hänen ylhäisen kirkkautensa tieltä, kun hän nousee järisyttämään maata.

²²Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he?

²²Lakatkaa jo luottamasta ihmiseen, vain kevyt elämän henkäys hänellä on sieraimissaan. Mikä hän on, mihin hän kelpaa?
