¹The two angels came to Sodom at evening. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them. He bowed himself with his face to the earth,

¹Sesudah bertamu pada Abraham, kedua malaikat itu pergi ke Sodom dan tiba di sana pada waktu malam. Lot sedang duduk di pintu gerbang kota, dan setelah melihat mereka, ia bangkit untuk menyambut mereka. Lalu sujudlah ia di hadapan mereka,

²and he said, “See now, my lords, please turn aside into your servant’s house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way.” They said, “No, but we will stay in the street all night.”

²dan berkata, "Tuan-tuan, silakan singgah di rumah saya. Tuan-tuan dapat membasuh kaki dan bermalam di rumah saya. Besok kalau mau, Tuan-tuan dapat bangun pagi-pagi dan meneruskan perjalanan." Tetapi mereka menjawab, "Terima kasih, biar kami bermalam di sini saja, di lapangan kota."

³He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

³Lot memohon dengan sangat, dan akhirnya mereka masuk bersama dia ke dalam rumahnya. Lot menyediakan hidangan lezat dan memanggang roti secukupnya, lalu makanlah mereka.

⁴But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.

⁴Tetapi sebelum tamu-tamu itu pergi tidur, orang-orang Sodom mengepung rumah itu. Semua orang laki-laki di kota itu, baik yang tua maupun yang muda, ada di situ.

⁵They called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them.”

⁵Mereka berseru kepada Lot, dan bertanya, "Di mana orang-orang yang datang bermalam di rumahmu? Serahkan mereka, supaya kami dapat bercampur dengan mereka!"

⁶Lot went out to them to the door, and shut the door after him.

⁶Lot keluar dari rumahnya, dan sesudah menutup pintu,

⁷He said, “Please, my brothers, don’t act so wickedly.

⁷ia berkata kepada orang-orang Sodom itu, "Saudara-saudara, saya minta dengan sangat, janganlah melakukan hal yang sejahat itu!

⁸See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof.”

⁸Coba dengar, saya punya dua anak perawan. Biar saya serahkan mereka kepada kalian dan kalian boleh melakukan apa saja dengan mereka. Tetapi jangan apa-apakan tamu-tamu saya ini; sebab saya wajib melindungi mereka."

⁹They said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now will we deal worse with you, than with them!” They pressed hard on the man Lot, and drew near to break the door.

⁹Tetapi kata orang-orang Sodom itu kepada Lot, "Pergi! Engkau orang asing mau mengatur kami? Ayo, pergi! Kalau tidak, engkau akan kami hajar lebih berat daripada kedua orang itu." Lalu mereka mendorong Lot dan menyerbu hendak mendobrak pintu.

¹⁰But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.

¹⁰Tetapi kedua tamu itu mengulurkan tangan mereka dan menarik Lot masuk ke dalam rumah, lalu menutup pintu.

¹¹They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

¹¹Mereka membutakan semua orang yang ada di luar rumah itu, sehingga orang-orang itu tidak dapat menemukan pintu itu lagi.

¹²The men said to Lot, “Do you have anybody else here? Sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whoever you have in the city, bring them out of the place:

¹²Kedua tamu itu berkata kepada Lot, "Jika engkau mempunyai anak laki-laki, anak perempuan, menantu atau sanak saudara lainnya yang tinggal di dalam kota ini, bawalah mereka keluar dari sini,

¹³for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before Yahweh that Yahweh has sent us to destroy it.”

¹³sebab kota ini akan kami musnahkan. TUHAN telah mendengar tuduhan-tuduhan berat terhadap penduduk di sini, dan kami telah diutusnya untuk menumpas kota Sodom."

¹⁴Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city.” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.

¹⁴Lalu pergilah Lot menemui dua orang tunangan kedua anaknya, dan berkata, "Cepatlah keluar dari tempat ini, sebab TUHAN akan memusnahkannya." Tetapi mereka mengira Lot bergurau saja.

¹⁵When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, “Get up! Take your wife, and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city.”

¹⁵Pada waktu subuh, kedua malaikat itu mendesak Lot supaya lekas berangkat. "Cepatlah," kata mereka. "Pergilah dengan istrimu dan kedua anak gadismu dari sini, supaya kalian jangan mati apabila kota ini dimusnahkan."

¹⁶But he lingered; and the men grabbed his hand, his wife’s hand, and his two daughters’ hands, Yahweh being merciful to him; and they took him out, and set him outside of the city.

¹⁶Lot bimbang. Tetapi TUHAN merasa kasihan kepadanya; karena itu kedua tamunya menuntun Lot dan istrinya serta kedua anaknya ke luar kota.

¹⁷It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said, “Escape for your life! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!”

¹⁷Sesudah itu seorang dari malaikat itu berkata, "Larilah, selamatkan nyawamu! Jangan menoleh ke belakang dan jangan berhenti di lembah. Larilah ke pegunungan, supaya kalian jangan mati!"

¹⁸Lot said to them, “Oh, not so, my lord.

¹⁸Tetapi Lot menjawab, "Aduh, Tuan jangan suruh kami lari ke pegunungan.

¹⁹See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can’t escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die.

¹⁹Memang, Tuan telah sangat menolong saya dan menyelamatkan nyawa saya. Tetapi pegunungan itu begitu jauh; jangan-jangan saya tersusul bencana itu lalu mati sebelum sampai di sana.

²⁰See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there (isn’t it a little one?), and my soul will live.”

²⁰Lihat, di depan itu ada kota kecil yang tidak begitu jauh. Izinkan saya lari ke sana supaya selamat."

²¹He said to him, “Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.

²¹Malaikat itu menjawab, "Baiklah, kota kecil itu tak akan kutumpas.

²²Hurry, escape there, for I can’t do anything until you get there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. Zoar means “little.”

²²Cepat, larilah! Sebab aku tidak bisa berbuat apa-apa sebelum engkau sampai di sana." Karena Lot menyebut kota itu kecil, maka kota itu dinamakan Zoar.

²³The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.

²³Matahari sedang terbit ketika Lot sampai di Zoar.

²⁴Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky.

²⁴Tiba-tiba TUHAN menurunkan hujan belerang yang berapi atas Sodom dan Gomora.

²⁵He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground.

²⁵Kedua kota itu dihancurkan, juga seluruh lembah dan semua tumbuh-tumbuhan serta semua penduduk di situ.

²⁶But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

²⁶Tetapi istri Lot menoleh ke belakang, lalu dia berubah menjadi tiang garam.

²⁷Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Yahweh.

²⁷Keesokan harinya, pagi-pagi, Abraham cepat-cepat pergi ke tempat ia berdiri di hadapan TUHAN sehari sebelumnya.

²⁸He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and looked, and saw that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.

²⁸Ia memandang ke arah Sodom dan Gomora dan ke seluruh lembah, dan melihat asap mengepul dari tanah itu, seperti asap dari tungku raksasa.

²⁹It happened, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.

²⁹Demikianlah, ketika Allah membinasakan kota-kota itu di lembah di mana Lot tinggal, Allah ingat kepada Abraham dan menolong Lot melarikan diri.

³⁰Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters.

³⁰Karena Lot takut menetap di Zoar, maka pergilah ia ke pegunungan bersama-sama dengan kedua anaknya perempuan, lalu tinggal di dalam sebuah gua.

³¹The firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us in the way of all the earth.

³¹Anak perempuan yang sulung berkata kepada adiknya, "Ayah sudah tua, dan di seluruh negeri ini tak ada orang laki-laki yang dapat mengawini kita supaya kita mendapat anak.

³²Come, let’s make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s seed.”

³²Mari, kita buat ayah mabuk, lalu kita tidur dengan dia supaya kita mendapat anak."

³³They made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she arose.

³³Pada malam itu mereka memberi ayah mereka minum anggur, lalu anak yang sulung tidur dengan ayahnya; tetapi ayahnya begitu mabuk sehingga tidak tahu apa yang terjadi.

³⁴It came to pass on the next day, that the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine again, tonight. You go in, and lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s seed.”

³⁴Keesokan harinya, anak yang sulung berkata kepada adiknya, "Tadi malam saya sudah tidur dengan ayah! Nanti malam kita buat dia mabuk lagi. Lalu tidurlah kau dengan dia. Nanti kita masing-masing mendapat anak."

³⁵They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she got up.

³⁵Demikianlah pada malam itu mereka membuat Lot mabuk, dan anaknya yang kedua tidur dengan dia. Dan Lot terlalu mabuk lagi sehingga tidak tahu apa yang terjadi.

³⁶Thus both of Lot’s daughters were with child by their father.

³⁶Lalu mengandunglah kedua anak Lot itu karena ayah mereka sendiri.

³⁷The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.

³⁷Anak yang sulung melahirkan anak laki-laki yang dinamakannya Moab. Dia menjadi leluhur orang Moab yang sekarang.

³⁸The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.

³⁸Anak yang kedua melahirkan anak laki-laki juga yang dinamakannya Ben-Ami. Dia menjadi leluhur bangsa Amon yang sekarang.
