¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before Yahweh, and died;

¹Sesudah kedua anak Harun mati pada waktu mempersembahkan api yang tidak dikehendaki TUHAN, TUHAN berbicara kepada Musa,

²and Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother, not to come at all times into the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark; lest he die: for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.

²kata-Nya, "Sampaikanlah kepada saudaramu Harun, bahwa hanya pada waktu yang ditentukan ia boleh memasuki Ruang Mahasuci yang dipisahkan dengan tirai, karena di situlah Aku menampakkan diri-Ku dalam awan di atas tutup Peti Perjanjian. Kalau Harun melanggar perintah itu, ia akan mati.

³“Herewith shall Aaron come into the sanctuary: with a young bull for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

³Hanya dengan cara mempersembahkan sapi jantan muda untuk kurban pengampunan dosa dan seekor domba jantan untuk kurban bakaran, Harun boleh memasuki Ruang Mahasuci."

⁴He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches on his body, and shall put on the linen sash, and he shall be clothed with the linen turban. They are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water, and put them on.

⁴Selanjutnya Harun harus memperhatikan peraturan-peraturan ini. Sebelum memasuki Ruang Mahasuci ia harus mandi lalu memakai pakaian imam, yaitu baju, celana pendek, ikat pinggang dan serban, semuanya dari kain linen.

⁵He shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.

⁵Lalu umat Israel harus menyerahkan kepada Harun dua ekor kambing jantan untuk kurban pengampunan dosa dan seekor domba jantan untuk kurban bakaran.

⁶“Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.

⁶Harun harus mempersembahkan seekor sapi jantan untuk kurban pengampunan dosa bagi dirinya sendiri dan keluarganya.

⁷He shall take the two goats, and set them before Yahweh at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

⁷Kedua ekor kambing jantan dari umat Israel harus dibawanya ke depan pintu Kemah TUHAN.

⁸Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats; one lot for Yahweh, and the other lot for the scapegoat.

⁸Di situ ia harus membuang undi dengan menggunakan dua batu, yang satu ditandai "untuk TUHAN", dan yang lain "untuk Azazel".

⁹Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for Yahweh, and offer him for a sin offering.

⁹Kambing yang terpilih bagi TUHAN harus dipersembahkan untuk kurban pengampunan dosa.

¹⁰But the goat, on which the lot fell for the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before Yahweh, to make atonement for him, to send him away for the scapegoat into the wilderness.

¹⁰Kambing yang terpilih bagi Azazel harus ditempatkan hidup-hidup di hadapan TUHAN lalu diusir ke padang gurun bagi Azazel, supaya dosa-dosa bangsa Israel dihapuskan.

¹¹“Aaron shall present the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is for himself.

¹¹Setelah Harun mempersembahkan dan menyembelih sapi jantan untuk kurban pengampunan dosa bagi dirinya sendiri dan bagi keluarganya,

¹²He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before Yahweh, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil:

¹²ia harus mengambil tempat api dari mezbah dan mengisinya penuh dengan bara api dan dua genggam dupa halus, lalu membawanya ke Ruang Mahasuci.

¹³and he shall put the incense on the fire before Yahweh, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the testimony, so that he will not die.

¹³Dupa itu harus dibakarnya di depan Peti Perjanjian, sehingga asapnya menyelubungi tutup Peti itu dan Harun tidak dapat melihatnya, sebab kalau ia melihatnya, ia akan mati.

¹⁴He shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.

¹⁴Lalu Harun harus mengambil sedikit darah sapi, dan dengan jarinya memercikkan darah itu ke bagian muka tutup Peti Perjanjian dan tujuh kali ke depan Peti.

¹⁵“Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:

¹⁵Sesudah itu Harun harus menyembelih kambing untuk kurban pengampunan dosa umat Israel. Darah kambing itu harus dibawanya ke Ruang Mahasuci, lalu dipercikkan ke bagian depan tutup Peti Perjanjian dan ke depan Peti, seperti yang sudah dilakukannya dengan darah sapi jantan.

¹⁶and he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting, that dwells with them in the midst of their uncleanness.

¹⁶Dengan cara itu ia menyucikan Ruang Mahasuci dari kenajisan bangsa Israel dan dari segala dosa mereka. Kemah TUHAN harus disucikan karena berada di tengah-tengah perkemahan bangsa Israel dan kena kenajisan mereka.

¹⁷No one shall be in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.

¹⁷Mulai dari saat Harun memasuki Ruang Mahasuci untuk melakukan upacara penyucian sampai ia keluar, seorang pun tak boleh berada di dalam Kemah itu. Sesudah selesai melakukan upacara untuk dirinya sendiri, untuk keluarganya dan untuk seluruh bangsa Israel,

¹⁸“He shall go out to the altar that is before Yahweh and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull’s blood, and some of the goat’s blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar.

¹⁸Harun harus keluar dan pergi ke mezbah kurban bakaran untuk menyucikan mezbah itu. Ia harus mengambil sedikit darah sapi dan darah kambing, dan mengoleskannya pada tanduk-tanduk di sudut-sudut mezbah.

¹⁹He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

¹⁹Dengan jarinya ia harus memercikkan sedikit darah itu tujuh kali ke atas mezbah. Dengan cara itu ia menyucikan mezbah dari kenajisan bangsa Israel, supaya menjadi suci.

²⁰“When he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat.

²⁰Sesudah mengadakan upacara penyucian Ruang Mahasuci dan bagian-bagian lain dari Kemah TUHAN serta mezbahnya, Harun harus mempersembahkan kepada TUHAN kambing yang hidup yang dipilih bagi Azazel.

²¹Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them on the head of the goat, and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.

²¹Ia harus meletakkan kedua tangannya di atas kepala kambing itu sambil mengakui semua kesalahan, dosa dan pelanggaran bangsa Israel. Dengan demikian semua kesalahan bangsa Israel dipindahkan ke atas kepala kambing itu. Lalu seorang yang ditugaskan harus mengusir kambing itu ke padang gurun.

²²The goat shall carry all their iniquities on himself to a solitary land, and he shall let the goat go in the wilderness.

²²Kambing itu membawa semua dosa bangsa Israel ke daerah tandus yang tidak didiami dan ia harus dilepaskan di padang gurun.

²³“Aaron shall come into the Tent of Meeting, and shall take off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there.

²³Sesudah itu Harun harus masuk ke dalam Kemah, membuka pakaian imam yang dipakainya waktu masuk ke Ruang Mahasuci, dan meninggalkan pakaian itu di sana.

²⁴Then he shall bathe himself in water in a holy place, and put on his garments, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.

²⁴Lalu ia harus mandi di suatu tempat yang dikhususkan dan memakai pakaiannya sendiri. Sesudahnya ia harus keluar dan mempersembahkan kurban bakaran untuk pengampunan dosanya sendiri dan dosa bangsa Israel.

²⁵The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar.

²⁵Lemak binatang untuk kurban pengampunan dosa harus dibakar di mezbah.

²⁶“He who lets the goat go for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

²⁶Orang yang melepaskan kambing bagi Azazel di padang gurun harus mencuci pakaiannya dan mandi sebelum pulang ke perkemahan.

²⁷The bull for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried forth outside the camp; and they shall burn their skins, their flesh, and their dung with fire.

²⁷Sapi jantan dan kambing untuk kurban pengampunan dosa, yang darahnya dibawa masuk ke Ruang Mahasuci untuk pengampunan dosa, harus dibawa ke luar perkemahan dan dibakar. Kulit, daging dan isi perut kedua binatang harus dibakar semuanya.

²⁸He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

²⁸Orang yang membakarnya harus mencuci pakaiannya dan mandi sebelum pulang ke perkemahan.

²⁹“It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, the native-born, or the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you:

²⁹Peraturan-peraturan ini harus ditaati untuk selama-lamanya. Pada tanggal sepuluh bulan tujuh, orang Israel dan orang asing yang menetap di antara mereka harus berpuasa dan dilarang bekerja, karena hari ini hari yang sangat suci. Pada hari itu harus dilakukan upacara untuk menyucikan bangsa Israel dari segala dosa mereka supaya mereka bersih.

³⁰for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before Yahweh.

³⁰(16:29)

³¹It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls; it is a statute forever.

³¹(16:29)

³²The priest, who is anointed and who is consecrated to be priest in his father’s place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments.

³²Imam Agung, yang sudah ditahbiskan dan dikhususkan bagi Allah untuk menggantikan ayahnya, harus melakukan upacara penyucian itu. Ia harus memakai pakaian khusus,

³³Then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.

³³lalu melakukan upacara penyucian Ruang Mahasuci, bagian-bagian lain dari Kemah TUHAN, mezbah, imam-imam dan seluruh bangsa Israel.

³⁴“This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel once in the year because of all their sins.” It was done as Yahweh commanded Moses.

³⁴Upacara itu harus dilakukan sekali setahun untuk menyucikan bangsa Israel dari segala dosa mereka. Itulah peraturan-peraturan yang harus ditaati untuk selama-lamanya. Musa melakukan seperti yang diperintahkan TUHAN kepadanya.
