¹Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand,

¹兄弟たちよ。わたしが以前あなたがたに伝えた福音、あなたがたが受けいれ、それによって立ってきたあの福音を、思い起してもらいたい。

²by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

²もしあなたがたが、いたずらに信じないで、わたしの宣べ伝えたとおりの言葉を固く守っておれば、この福音によって救われるのである。

³For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

³わたしが最も大事なこととしてあなたがたに伝えたのは、わたし自身も受けたことであった。すなわちキリストが、聖書に書いてあるとおり、わたしたちの罪のために死んだこと、

⁴that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

⁴そして葬られたこと、聖書に書いてあるとおり、三日目によみがえったこと、

⁵and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

⁵ケパに現れ、次に、十二人に現れたことである。

⁶Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers at once, most of whom remain until now, but some have also fallen asleep.

⁶そののち、五百人以上の兄弟たちに、同時に現れた。その中にはすでに眠った者たちもいるが、大多数はいまなお生存している。

⁷Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,

⁸and last of all, as to the child born at the wrong time, he appeared to me also.

⁹For I am the least of the apostles, who is not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the assembly of God.

⁹実際わたしは、神の教会を迫害したのであるから、使徒たちの中でいちばん小さい者であって、使徒と呼ばれる値うちのない者である。

¹⁰But by the grace of God I am what I am. His grace which was bestowed on me was not futile, but I worked more than all of them; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

¹⁰しかし、神の恵みによって、わたしは今日あるを得ているのである。そして、わたしに賜わった神の恵みはむだにならず、むしろ、わたしは彼らの中のだれよりも多く働いてきた。しかしそれは、わたし自身ではなく、わたしと共にあった神の恵みである。

¹¹Whether then it is I or they, so we preach, and so you believed.

¹¹とにかく、わたしにせよ彼らにせよ、そのように、わたしたちは宣べ伝えており、そのように、あなたがたは信じたのである。

¹²Now if Christ is preached, that he has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

¹²さて、キリストは死人の中からよみがえったのだと宣べ伝えられているのに、あなたがたの中のある者が、死人の復活などはないと言っているのは、どうしたことか。

¹³But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ been raised.

¹³もし死人の復活がないならば、キリストもよみがえらなかったであろう。

¹⁴If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith also is in vain.

¹⁴もしキリストがよみがえらなかったとしたら、わたしたちの宣教はむなしく、あなたがたの信仰もまたむなしい。

¹⁵Yes, we are found false witnesses of God, because we testified about God that he raised up Christ, whom he didn’t raise up, if it is so that the dead are not raised.

¹⁵すると、わたしたちは神にそむく偽証人にさえなるわけだ。なぜなら、万一死人がよみがえらないとしたら、わたしたちは神が実際よみがえらせなかったはずのキリストを、よみがえらせたと言って、神に反するあかしを立てたことになるからである。

¹⁶For if the dead aren’t raised, neither has Christ been raised.

¹⁶もし死人がよみがえらないなら、キリストもよみがえらなかったであろう。

¹⁷If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.

¹⁷もしキリストがよみがえらなかったとすれば、あなたがたの信仰は空虚なものとなり、あなたがたは、いまなお罪の中にいることになろう。

¹⁸Then they also who are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

¹⁸そうだとすると、キリストにあって眠った者たちは、滅んでしまったのである。

¹⁹If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.

¹⁹もしわたしたちが、この世の生活でキリストにあって単なる望みをいだいているだけだとすれば、わたしたちは、すべての人の中で最もあわれむべき存在となる。

²⁰But now Christ has been raised from the dead. He became the first fruits of those who are asleep.

²⁰しかし事実、キリストは眠っている者の初穂として、死人の中からよみがえったのである。

²¹For since death came by man, the resurrection of the dead also came by man.

²¹それは、死がひとりの人によってきたのだから、死人の復活もまた、ひとりの人によってこなければならない。

²²For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.

²²アダムにあってすべての人が死んでいるのと同じように、キリストにあってすべての人が生かされるのである。

²³But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then those who are Christ’s, at his coming.

²³ただ、各自はそれぞれの順序に従わねばならない。最初はキリスト、次に、主の来臨に際してキリストに属する者たち、

²⁴Then the end comes, when he will deliver up the Kingdom to God, even the Father; when he will have abolished all rule and all authority and power.

²⁴それから終末となって、その時に、キリストはすべての君たち、すべての権威と権力とを打ち滅ぼして、国を父なる神に渡されるのである。

²⁵For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

²⁵なぜなら、キリストはあらゆる敵をその足もとに置く時までは、支配を続けることになっているからである。

²⁶The last enemy that will be abolished is death.

²⁶最後の敵として滅ぼされるのが、死である。

²⁷For, “He put all things in subjection under his feet.” Psalm 8:6 But when he says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is evident that he is excepted who subjected all things to him.

²⁷「神は万物を彼の足もとに従わせた」からである。ところが、万物を従わせたと言われる時、万物を従わせたかたがそれに含まれていないことは、明らかである。

²⁸When all things have been subjected to him, then the Son will also himself be subjected to him who subjected all things to him, that God may be all in all.

²⁸そして、万物が神に従う時には、御子自身もまた、万物を従わせたそのかたに従うであろう。それは、神がすべての者にあって、すべてとなられるためである。

²⁹Or else what will they do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead aren’t raised at all, why then are they baptized for the dead?

²⁹そうでないとすれば、死者のためにバプテスマを受ける人々は、なぜそれをするのだろうか。もし死者が全くよみがえらないとすれば、なぜ人々が死者のためにバプテスマを受けるのか。

³⁰Why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?

³⁰また、なんのために、わたしたちはいつも危険を冒しているのか。

³¹I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

³¹兄弟たちよ。わたしたちの主キリスト・イエスにあって、わたしがあなたがたにつき持っている誇にかけて言うが、わたしは日々死んでいるのである。

³²If I fought with animals at Ephesus for human purposes, what does it profit me? If the dead are not raised, then “let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” Isaiah 22:13

³²もし、わたしが人間の考えによってエペソで獣と戦ったとすれば、それはなんの役に立つのか。もし死人がよみがえらないのなら、「わたしたちは飲み食いしようではないか。あすもわからぬいのちなのだ」。

³³Don’t be deceived! “Evil companionships corrupt good morals.”

³³まちがってはいけない。「悪い交わりは、良いならわしをそこなう」。

³⁴Wake up righteously, and don’t sin, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.

³⁴目ざめて身を正し、罪を犯さないようにしなさい。あなたがたのうちには、神について無知な人々がいる。あなたがたをはずかしめるために、わたしはこう言うのだ。

³⁵But someone will say, “How are the dead raised?” and, “With what kind of body do they come?”

³⁵しかし、ある人は言うだろう。「どんなふうにして、死人がよみがえるのか。どんなからだをして来るのか」。

³⁶You foolish one, that which you yourself sow is not made alive unless it dies.

³⁶おろかな人である。あなたのまくものは、死ななければ、生かされないではないか。

³⁷That which you sow, you don’t sow the body that will be, but a bare grain, maybe of wheat, or of some other kind.

³⁷また、あなたのまくのは、やがて成るべきからだをまくのではない。麦であっても、ほかの種であっても、ただの種粒にすぎない。

³⁸But God gives it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.

³⁸ところが、神はみこころのままに、これにからだを与え、その一つ一つの種にそれぞれのからだをお与えになる。

³⁹All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds.

³⁹すべての肉が、同じ肉なのではない。人の肉があり、獣の肉があり、鳥の肉があり、魚の肉がある。

⁴⁰There are also celestial bodies, and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial differs from that of the terrestrial.

⁴⁰天に属するからだもあれば、地に属するからだもある。天に属するものの栄光は、地に属するものの栄光と違っている。

⁴¹There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.

⁴¹日の栄光があり、月の栄光があり、星の栄光がある。また、この星とあの星との間に、栄光の差がある。

⁴²So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.

⁴³It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.

⁴³卑しいものでまかれ、栄光あるものによみがえり、弱いものでまかれ、強いものによみがえり、

⁴⁴It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body and there is also a spiritual body.

⁴⁴肉のからだでまかれ、霊のからだによみがえるのである。肉のからだがあるのだから、霊のからだもあるわけである。

⁴⁵So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7 The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

⁴⁵聖書に「最初の人アダムは生きたものとなった」と書いてあるとおりである。しかし最後のアダムは命を与える霊となった。

⁴⁶However that which is spiritual isn’t first, but that which is natural, then that which is spiritual.

⁴⁷The first man is of the earth, made of dust. The second man is the Lord from heaven.

⁴⁷第一の人は地から出て土に属し、第二の人は天から来る。

⁴⁸As is the one made of dust, such are those who are also made of dust; and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

⁴⁸この土に属する人に、土に属している人々は等しく、この天に属する人に、天に属している人々は等しいのである。

⁴⁹As we have borne the image of those made of dust, let’s NU, TR read “we will” instead of “let’s” also bear the image of the heavenly.

⁴⁹すなわち、わたしたちは、土に属している形をとっているのと同様に、また天に属している形をとるであろう。

⁵⁰Now I say this, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” that flesh and blood can’t inherit the Kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.

⁵⁰兄弟たちよ。わたしはこの事を言っておく。肉と血とは神の国を継ぐことができないし、朽ちるものは朽ちないものを継ぐことがない。

⁵¹Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,

⁵¹ここで、あなたがたに奥義を告げよう。わたしたちすべては、眠り続けるのではない。終りのラッパの響きと共に、またたく間に、一瞬にして変えられる。

⁵²in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.

⁵²というのは、ラッパが響いて、死人は朽ちない者によみがえらされ、わたしたちは変えられるのである。

⁵³For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

⁵³なぜなら、この朽ちるものは必ず朽ちないものを着、この死ぬものは必ず死なないものを着ることになるからである。

⁵⁴But when this corruptible will have put on incorruption, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” Isaiah 25:8

⁵⁴この朽ちるものが朽ちないものを着、この死ぬものが死なないものを着るとき、聖書に書いてある言葉が成就するのである。

⁵⁵“Death, where is your sting? Hades or, Hell , where is your victory?” Hosea 13:14

⁵⁵「死は勝利にのまれてしまった。死よ、おまえの勝利は、どこにあるのか。死よ、おまえのとげは、どこにあるのか」。

⁵⁶The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

⁵⁶死のとげは罪である。罪の力は律法である。

⁵⁷But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁵⁷しかし感謝すべきことには、神はわたしたちの主イエス・キリストによって、わたしたちに勝利を賜わったのである。だから、愛する兄弟たちよ。堅く立って動かされず、いつも全力を注いで主のわざに励みなさい。主にあっては、あなたがたの労苦がむだになることはないと、あなたがたは知っているからである。

⁵⁸Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

⁵⁸だから、愛する兄弟たちよ。堅く立って動かされず、いつも全力を注いで主のわざに励みなさい。主にあっては、あなたがたの労苦がむだになることはないと、あなたがたは知っているからである。
