¹Working together, we entreat also that you not receive the grace of God in vain,

²for he says, “At an acceptable time I listened to you, in a day of salvation I helped you.” Isaiah 49:8 Behold, now is the acceptable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation.

³We give no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our service may not be blamed,

³この務がそしりを招かないために、わたしたちはどんな事にも、人につまずきを与えないようにし、

⁴but in everything commending ourselves, as servants of God, in great endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses,

⁴かえって、あらゆる場合に、神の僕として、自分を人々にあらわしている。すなわち、極度の忍苦にも、患難にも、危機にも、行き詰まりにも、

⁵in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;

⁵むち打たれることにも、入獄にも、騒乱にも、労苦にも、徹夜にも、飢餓にも、

⁶in pureness, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in sincere love,

⁶真実と知識と寛容と、慈愛と聖霊と偽りのない愛と、

⁷in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

⁷真理の言葉と神の力とにより、左右に持っている義の武器により、

⁸by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;

⁸ほめられても、そしられても、悪評を受けても、好評を博しても、神の僕として自分をあらわしている。わたしたちは、人を惑わしているようであるが、しかも真実であり、

⁹as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and not killed;

⁹人に知られていないようであるが、認められ、死にかかっているようであるが、見よ、生きており、懲らしめられているようであるが、殺されず、

¹⁰as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

¹⁰悲しんでいるようであるが、常に喜んでおり、貧しいようであるが、多くの人を富ませ、何も持たないようであるが、すべての物を持っている。

¹¹Our mouth is open to you, Corinthians. Our heart is enlarged.

¹¹コリントの人々よ。あなたがたに向かってわたしたちの口は開かれており、わたしたちの心は広くなっている。

¹²You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections.

¹²あなたがたは、わたしたちに心をせばめられていたのではなく、自分で心をせばめていたのだ。

¹³Now in return, I speak as to my children, you also be open wide.

¹³わたしは子供たちに対するように言うが、どうかあなたがたの方でも心を広くして、わたしに応じてほしい。

¹⁴Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

¹⁴不信者と、つり合わないくびきを共にするな。義と不義となんの係わりがあるか。光とやみとなんの交わりがあるか。

¹⁵What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever?

¹⁵キリストとベリアルとなんの調和があるか。信仰と不信仰となんの関係があるか。

¹⁶What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Leviticus 26:12; Jeremiah 32:38; Ezekiel 37:27

¹⁶神の宮と偶像となんの一致があるか。わたしたちは、生ける神の宮である。神がこう仰せになっている、「わたしは彼らの間に住み、かつ出入りをするであろう。そして、わたしは彼らの神となり、彼らはわたしの民となるであろう」。

¹⁷Therefore “‘Come out from among them, and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘Touch no unclean thing. I will receive you. Isaiah 52:11; Ezekiel 20:34,41
