¹Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place.

¹五旬節の日がきて、みんなの者が一緒に集まっていると、

²Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

²突然、激しい風が吹いてきたような音が天から起ってきて、一同がすわっていた家いっぱいに響きわたった。

³Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.

³また、舌のようなものが、炎のように分れて現れ、ひとりびとりの上にとどまった。

⁴They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.

⁴すると、一同は聖霊に満たされ、御霊が語らせるままに、いろいろの他国の言葉で語り出した。

⁵Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under the sky.

⁵さて、エルサレムには、天下のあらゆる国々から、信仰深いユダヤ人たちがきて住んでいたが、

⁶When this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were bewildered, because everyone heard them speaking in his own language.

⁶この物音に大ぜいの人が集まってきて、彼らの生れ故郷の国語で、使徒たちが話しているのを、だれもかれも聞いてあっけに取られた。

⁷They were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Behold, aren’t all these who speak Galileans?

⁷そして驚き怪しんで言った、「見よ、いま話しているこの人たちは、皆ガリラヤ人ではないか。

⁸How do we hear, everyone in our own native language?

⁸それだのに、わたしたちがそれぞれ、生れ故郷の国語を彼らから聞かされるとは、いったい、どうしたことか。

⁹Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia,

⁹わたしたちの中には、パルテヤ人、メジヤ人、エラム人もおれば、メソポタミヤ、ユダヤ、カパドキヤ、ポントとアジヤ、

¹⁰Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

¹⁰フルギヤとパンフリヤ、エジプトとクレネに近いリビヤ地方などに住む者もいるし、またローマ人で旅にきている者、

¹¹Cretans and Arabians: we hear them speaking in our languages the mighty works of God!”

¹¹ユダヤ人と改宗者、クレテ人とアラビヤ人もいるのだが、あの人々がわたしたちの国語で、神の大きな働きを述べるのを聞くとは、どうしたことか」。

¹²They were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying one to another, “What does this mean?”

¹²みんなの者は驚き惑って、互に言い合った、「これは、いったい、どういうわけなのだろう」。

¹³Others, mocking, said, “They are filled with new wine.”

¹³しかし、ほかの人たちはあざ笑って、「あの人たちは新しい酒で酔っているのだ」と言った。

¹⁴But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke out to them, “You men of Judea, and all you who dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words.

¹⁴そこで、ペテロが十一人の者と共に立ちあがり、声をあげて人々に語りかけた。「ユダヤの人たち、ならびにエルサレムに住むすべてのかたがた、どうか、この事を知っていただきたい。わたしの言うことに耳を傾けていただきたい。

¹⁵For these aren’t drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is only the third hour of the day about 9:00 AM .

¹⁵今は朝の九時であるから、この人たちは、あなたがたが思っているように、酒に酔っているのではない。

¹⁶But this is what has been spoken through the prophet Joel:

¹⁷‘It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams.

¹⁷『神がこう仰せになる。終りの時には、わたしの霊をすべての人に注ごう。そして、あなたがたのむすこ娘は預言をし、若者たちは幻を見、老人たちは夢を見るであろう。

¹⁸Yes, and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days, I will pour out my Spirit, and they will prophesy.

¹⁸その時には、わたしの男女の僕たちにもわたしの霊を注ごう。そして彼らも預言をするであろう。

¹⁹I will show wonders in the sky above, and signs on the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and billows of smoke.

¹⁹また、上では、天に奇跡を見せ、下では、地にしるしを、すなわち、血と火と立ちこめる煙とを、見せるであろう。

²⁰The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

²⁰主の大いなる輝かしい日が来る前に、日はやみに月は血に変るであろう。

²¹It will be, that whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ Joel 2:28-32

²²“Men of Israel, hear these words! Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God to you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, even as you yourselves know,

²²イスラエルの人たちよ、今わたしの語ることを聞きなさい。あなたがたがよく知っているとおり、ナザレ人イエスは、神が彼をとおして、あなたがたの中で行われた数々の力あるわざと奇跡としるしとにより、神からつかわされた者であることを、あなたがたに示されたかたであった。

²³him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed;

²³このイエスが渡されたのは神の定めた計画と予知とによるのであるが、あなたがたは彼を不法の人々の手で十字架につけて殺した。

²⁴whom God raised up, having freed him from the agony of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it.

²⁴神はこのイエスを死の苦しみから解き放って、よみがえらせたのである。イエスが死に支配されているはずはなかったからである。

²⁵For David says concerning him, ‘I saw the Lord always before my face, For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved.

²⁵ダビデはイエスについてこう言っている、『わたしは常に目の前に主を見た。主は、わたしが動かされないため、わたしの右にいて下さるからである。

²⁶Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced. Moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope;

²⁶それゆえ、わたしの心は楽しみ、わたしの舌はよろこび歌った。わたしの肉体もまた、望みに生きるであろう。

²⁷because you will not leave my soul in Hades or, Hell , neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay.

²⁷あなたは、わたしの魂を黄泉に捨ておくことをせず、あなたの聖者が朽ち果てるのを、お許しにならないであろう。

²⁸You made known to me the ways of life. You will make me full of gladness with your presence.’ Psalm 16:8-11

²⁸あなたは、いのちの道をわたしに示し、み前にあって、わたしを喜びで満たして下さるであろう』。

²⁹“Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

²⁹兄弟たちよ、族長ダビデについては、わたしはあなたがたにむかって大胆に言うことができる。彼は死んで葬られ、現にその墓が今日に至るまで、わたしたちの間に残っている。

³⁰Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,

³¹he foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was his soul left in Hades or, Hell , nor did his flesh see decay.

³²This Jesus God raised up, to which we all are witnesses.

³²このイエスを、神はよみがえらせた。そして、わたしたちは皆その証人なのである。

³³Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear.

³³それで、イエスは神の右に上げられ、父から約束の聖霊を受けて、それをわたしたちに注がれたのである。このことは、あなたがたが現に見聞きしているとおりである。

³⁴For David didn’t ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit by my right hand,

³⁴ダビデが天に上ったのではない。彼自身こう言っている、『主はわが主に仰せになった、

³⁵until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’ Psalm 110:1

³⁵あなたの敵をあなたの足台にするまでは、わたしの右に座していなさい』。

³⁶“Let all the house of Israel therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

³⁶だから、イスラエルの全家は、この事をしかと知っておくがよい。あなたがたが十字架につけたこのイエスを、神は、主またキリストとしてお立てになったのである」。

³⁷Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

³⁷人々はこれを聞いて、強く心を刺され、ペテロやほかの使徒たちに、「兄弟たちよ、わたしたちは、どうしたらよいのでしょうか」と言った。

³⁸Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

³⁸すると、ペテロが答えた、「悔い改めなさい。そして、あなたがたひとりびとりが罪のゆるしを得るために、イエス・キリストの名によって、バプテスマを受けなさい。そうすれば、あなたがたは聖霊の賜物を受けるであろう。

³⁹For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”

³⁹この約束は、われらの主なる神の召しにあずかるすべての者、すなわちあなたがたと、あなたがたの子らと、遠くの者一同とに、与えられているものである」。

⁴⁰With many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”

⁴⁰ペテロは、ほかになお多くの言葉であかしをなし、人々に「この曲った時代から救われよ」と言って勧めた。

⁴¹Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. There were added that day about three thousand souls.

⁴¹そこで、彼の勧めの言葉を受けいれた者たちは、バプテスマを受けたが、その日、仲間に加わったものが三千人ほどあった。

⁴²They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayer.

⁴²そして一同はひたすら、使徒たちの教を守り、信徒の交わりをなし、共にパンをさき、祈をしていた。

⁴³Fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

⁴³みんなの者におそれの念が生じ、多くの奇跡としるしとが、使徒たちによって、次々に行われた。

⁴⁴All who believed were together, and had all things in common.

⁴⁴信者たちはみな一緒にいて、いっさいの物を共有にし、

⁴⁵They sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, according as anyone had need.

⁴⁵資産や持ち物を売っては、必要に応じてみんなの者に分け与えた。

⁴⁶Day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart,

⁴⁶そして日々心を一つにして、絶えず宮もうでをなし、家ではパンをさき、よろこびと、まごころとをもって、食事を共にし、神をさんびし、すべての人に好意を持たれていた。そして主は、救われる者を日々仲間に加えて下さったのである。

⁴⁷praising God, and having favor with all the people. The Lord added to the assembly day by day those who were being saved.
