¹If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.

¹このように、あなたがたはキリストと共によみがえらされたのだから、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこではキリストが神の右に座しておられるのである。

²Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.

²あなたがたは上にあるものを思うべきであって、地上のものに心を引かれてはならない。

³For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

³あなたがたはすでに死んだものであって、あなたがたのいのちは、キリストと共に神のうちに隠されているのである。

⁴When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.

⁴わたしたちのいのちなるキリストが現れる時には、あなたがたも、キリストと共に栄光のうちに現れるであろう。

⁵Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

⁵だから、地上の肢体、すなわち、不品行、汚れ、情欲、悪欲、また貪欲を殺してしまいなさい。貪欲は偶像礼拝にほかならない。

⁶for which things’ sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.

⁶これらのことのために、神の怒りが下るのである。

⁷You also once walked in those, when you lived in them;

⁷あなたがたも、以前これらのうちに日を過ごしていた時には、これらのことをして歩いていた。

⁸but now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth.

⁸しかし今は、これらいっさいのことを捨て、怒り、憤り、悪意、そしり、口から出る恥ずべき言葉を、捨ててしまいなさい。

⁹Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings,

⁹互にうそを言ってはならない。あなたがたは、古き人をその行いと一緒に脱ぎ捨て、

¹⁰and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator,

¹⁰造り主のかたちに従って新しくされ、真の知識に至る新しき人を着たのである。

¹¹where there can’t be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all.

¹¹そこには、もはやギリシヤ人とユダヤ人、割礼と無割礼、未開の人、スクテヤ人、奴隷、自由人の差別はない。キリストがすべてであり、すべてのもののうちにいますのである。

¹²Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;

¹²だから、あなたがたは、神に選ばれた者、聖なる、愛されている者であるから、あわれみの心、慈愛、謙そん、柔和、寛容を身に着けなさい。

¹³bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

¹³互に忍びあい、もし互に責むべきことがあれば、ゆるし合いなさい。主もあなたがたをゆるして下さったのだから、そのように、あなたがたもゆるし合いなさい。

¹⁴Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.

¹⁴これらいっさいのものの上に、愛を加えなさい。愛は、すべてを完全に結ぶ帯である。

¹⁵And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

¹⁵キリストの平和が、あなたがたの心を支配するようにしなさい。あなたがたが召されて一体となったのは、このためでもある。いつも感謝していなさい。

¹⁶Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord.

¹⁶キリストの言葉を、あなたがたのうちに豊かに宿らせなさい。そして、知恵をつくして互に教えまた訓戒し、詩とさんびと霊の歌とによって、感謝して心から神をほめたたえなさい。

¹⁷Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him.

¹⁷そして、あなたのすることはすべて、言葉によるとわざによるとを問わず、いっさい主イエスの名によってなし、彼によって父なる神に感謝しなさい。

¹⁸Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

¹⁸妻たる者よ、夫に仕えなさい。それが、主にある者にふさわしいことである。

¹⁹Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them.

¹⁹夫たる者よ、妻を愛しなさい。つらくあたってはいけない。

²⁰Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord.

²⁰子たる者よ、何事についても両親に従いなさい。これが主に喜ばれることである。

²¹Fathers, don’t provoke your children, so that they won’t be discouraged.

²¹父たる者よ、子供をいらだたせてはいけない。心がいじけるかも知れないから。

²²Servants, obey in all things those who are your masters according to the flesh, not just when they are looking, as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.

²²僕たる者よ、何事についても、肉による主人に従いなさい。人にへつらおうとして、目先だけの勤めをするのではなく、真心をこめて主を恐れつつ、従いなさい。

²³And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,

²³何をするにも、人に対してではなく、主に対してするように、心から働きなさい。

²⁴knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

²⁴あなたがたが知っているとおり、あなたがたは御国をつぐことを、報いとして主から受けるであろう。あなたがたは、主キリストに仕えているのである。不正を行う者は、自分の行った不正に対して報いを受けるであろう。それには差別扱いはない。

²⁵But he who does wrong will receive again for the wrong that he has done, and there is no partiality.
