¹These are the statutes and the ordinances which you shall observe to do in the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess it, all the days that you live on the earth.

¹これはあなたの先祖たちの神、主が所有として賜わる地で、あなたがたが世に生きながらえている間、守り行わなければならない定めと、おきてである。

²You shall surely destroy all the places in which the nations that you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains, and on the hills, and under every green tree:

²あなたがたの追い払う国々の民が、その神々に仕えた所は、高い山にあるものも、丘にあるものも、青木の下にあるものも、ことごとくこわし、

³and you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and burn their Asherim with fire; and you shall cut down the engraved images of their gods; and you shall destroy their name out of that place.

³その祭壇をこぼち、柱を砕き、アシラ像を火で焼き、また刻んだ神々の像を切り倒して、その名をその所から消し去らなければならない。

⁴You shall not do so to Yahweh your God.

⁴ただし、あなたがたの神、主にはそのようにしてはならない。

⁵But to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even to his habitation you shall seek, and there you shall come;

⁵あなたがたの神、主がその名を置くために、あなたがたの全部族のうちから選ばれる場所、すなわち主のすまいを尋ね求めて、そこに行き、

⁶and there you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the wave offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock:

⁶あなたがたの燔祭と、犠牲と、十分の一と、ささげ物と、誓願の供え物と、自発の供え物および牛、羊のういごをそこに携えて行って、

⁷and there you shall eat before Yahweh your God, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which Yahweh your God has blessed you.

⁷そこであなたがたの神、主の前で食べ、あなたがたも、家族も皆、手を労して獲るすべての物を喜び楽しまなければならない。これはあなたの神、主の恵みによって獲るものだからである。

⁸You shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatever is right in his own eyes;

⁸そこでは、われわれがきょうここでしているように、めいめいで正しいと思うようにふるまってはならない。

⁹for you haven’t yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Yahweh your God gives you.

⁹あなたがたはまだ、あなたがたの神、主から賜わる安息と嗣業の地に、はいっていないのである。

¹⁰But when you go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Yahweh your God causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies around you, so that you dwell in safety;

¹⁰しかし、あなたがたがヨルダンを渡り、あなたがたの神、主が嗣業として賜わる地に住むようになり、さらに主があなたがたの周囲の敵をことごとく除いて、安息を与え、あなたがたが安らかに住むようになる時、

¹¹then it shall happen that to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the wave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to Yahweh.

¹¹あなたがたの神、主はその名を置くために、一つの場所を選ばれるであろう。あなたがたはそこにわたしの命じる物をすべて携えて行かなければならない。すなわち、あなたがたの燔祭と、犠牲と、十分の一と、ささげ物およびあなたがたが主に誓ったすべての誓願の供え物とを携えて行かなければならない。

¹²You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God, you, and your sons, and your daughters, and your male servants, and your female servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

¹²そしてあなたがたのむすこ、娘、しもべ、はしためと共にあなたがたの神、主の前に喜び楽しまなければならない。また町の内におるレビびととも、そうしなければならない。彼はあなたがたのうちに分け前がなく、嗣業を持たないからである。

¹³Take heed to yourself that you don’t offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see;

¹³慎んで、すべてあなたがよいと思う場所で、みだりに燔祭をささげないようにしなければならない。

¹⁴but in the place which Yahweh shall choose in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.

¹⁴ただあなたの部族の一つのうちに、主が選ばれるその場所で、燔祭をささげ、またわたしが命じるすべての事をしなければならない。

¹⁵Notwithstanding, you may kill and eat flesh within all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to the blessing of Yahweh your God which he has given you: the unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle, and as of the hart.

¹⁵しかし、あなたの神、主が賜わる恵みにしたがって、すべて心に好む獣を、どの町ででも殺して、その肉を食べることができる。すなわち、かもしかや雄じかの肉と同様にそれを、汚れた人も、清い人も、食べることができる。

¹⁶Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it out on the earth as water.

¹⁶ただし、その血は食べてはならない。水のようにそれを地に注がなければならない。

¹⁷You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill offerings, nor the wave offering of your hand;

¹⁷あなたの穀物と、ぶどう酒と、油との十分の一および牛、羊のういご、ならびにあなたが立てる誓願の供え物と、自発の供え物およびささげ物は、町の内で食べることはできない。

¹⁸but you shall eat them before Yahweh your God in the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your male servant, and your female servant, and the Levite who is within your gates: and you shall rejoice before Yahweh your God in all that you put your hand to.

¹⁸あなたの神、主が選ばれる場所で、あなたの神、主の前でそれを食べなければならない。すなわちあなたのむすこ、娘、しもべ、はしため、および町の内におるレビびとと共にそれを食べ、手を労して獲るすべての物を、あなたの神、主の前に喜び楽しまなければならない。

¹⁹Take heed to yourself that you don’t forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land.

¹⁹慎んで、あなたが世に生きながらえている間、レビびとを捨てないようにしなければならない。

²⁰When Yahweh your God shall enlarge your border, as he has promised you, and you shall say, “I want to eat meat,” because your soul desires to eat meat; you may eat meat, after all the desire of your soul.

²⁰あなたの神、主が約束されたように、あなたの領域を広くされるとき、あなたは肉を食べたいと願って、『わたしは肉を食べよう』と言うであろう。その時、あなたはほしいだけ肉を食べることができる。

²¹If the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, to put his name there, is too far from you, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock, which Yahweh has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat within your gates, after all the desire of your soul.

²¹もしあなたの神、主がその名を置くために選ばれる場所が、遠く離れているならば、わたしが命じるように、主が賜わる牛、羊をほふり、門の内で、ほしいだけ食べることができる。

²²Even as the gazelle and as the hart is eaten, so you shall eat of it: the unclean and the clean may eat of it alike.

²²かもしかや、雄じかを食べるように、それを食べることができる。すなわち汚れた人も、清い人も一様にそれを食べることができる。

²³Only be sure that you don’t eat the blood: for the blood is the life; and you shall not eat the life with the flesh.

²³ただ堅く慎んで、その血を食べないようにしなければならない。血は命だからである。その命を肉と一緒に食べてはならない。

²⁴You shall not eat it; you shall pour it out on the earth as water.

²⁴あなたはそれを食べてはならない。水のようにそれを地に注がなければならない。

²⁵You shall not eat it; that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, when you shall do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh.

²⁵あなたはそれを食べてはならない。こうして、主が正しいと見られる事を行うならば、あなたにも後の子孫にも、さいわいがあるであろう。

²⁶Only your holy things which you have, and your vows, you shall take, and go to the place which Yahweh shall choose:

²⁶ただあなたのささげる聖なる物と、誓願の物とは、主が選ばれる場所へ携えて行かなければならない。

²⁷and you shall offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of Yahweh your God; and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on the altar of Yahweh your God; and you shall eat the flesh.

²⁷そして燔祭をささげる時は、肉と血とをあなたの神、主の祭壇の上にささげなければならない。犠牲をささげる時は、血をあなたの神、主の祭壇にそそぎかけ、肉はみずから食べることができる。

²⁸Observe and hear all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you forever, when you do that which is good and right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.

²⁸あなたはわたしが命じるこれらの事を、ことごとく聞いて守らなければならない。こうしてあなたの神、主が見て良いとし、正しいとされる事を行うならば、あなたにも後の子孫にも、長くさいわいがあるであろう。

²⁹When Yahweh your God shall cut off the nations from before you, where you go in to dispossess them, and you dispossess them, and dwell in their land;

²⁹あなたの神、主が、あなたの行って追い払おうとする国々の民を、あなたの前から断ち滅ぼされ、あなたがついにその国々を獲て、その地に住むようになる時、

³⁰take heed to yourself that you not be ensnared to follow them, after that they are destroyed from before you; and that you not inquire after their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.”

³⁰あなたはみずから慎み、彼らがあなたの前から滅ぼされた後、彼らにならって、わなにかかってはならない。また彼らの神々を尋ね求めて、『これらの国々の民はどのようにその神々に仕えたのか、わたしもそのようにしよう』と言ってはならない。

³¹You shall not do so to Yahweh your God: for every abomination to Yahweh, which he hates, have they done to their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods.

³¹あなたの神、主に対しては、そのようにしてはならない。彼らは主の憎まれるもろもろの忌むべき事を、その神々にむかって行い、むすこ、娘をさえ火に焼いて、神々にささげたからである。あなたがたはわたしが命じるこのすべての事を守って行わなければならない。これにつけ加えてはならない。また減らしてはならない。

³²Whatever thing I command you, that you shall observe to do: you shall not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
