¹It happened in the days of Amraphel, king of Shinar, Arioch, king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, and Tidal, king of Goiim,

¹シナルの王アムラペル、エラサルの王アリオク、エラムの王ケダラオメルおよびゴイムの王テダルの世に、

²that they made war with Bera, king of Sodom, and with Birsha, king of Gomorrah, Shinab, king of Admah, and Shemeber, king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar).

²これらの王はソドムの王ベラ、ゴモラの王ビルシャ、アデマの王シナブ、ゼボイムの王セメベル、およびベラすなわちゾアルの王と戦った。

³All these joined together in the valley of Siddim (the same is the Salt Sea).

³これら五人の王はみな同盟してシデムの谷、すなわち塩の海に向かって行った。

⁴Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year, they rebelled.

⁴すなわち彼らは十二年の間ケダラオメルに仕えたが、十三年目にそむいたので、

⁵In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer came, and the kings who were with him, and struck the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

⁵十四年目にケダラオメルは彼と連合した王たちと共にきて、アシタロテ・カルナイムでレパイムびとを、ハムでズジびとを、シャベ・キリアタイムでエミびとを撃ち、

⁶and the Horites in their Mount Seir, to Elparan, which is by the wilderness.

⁶セイルの山地でホリびとを撃って、荒野のほとりにあるエル・パランに及んだ。

⁷They returned, and came to En Mishpat (the same is Kadesh), and struck all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that lived in Hazazon Tamar.

⁷彼らは引き返してエン・ミシパテすなわちカデシへ行って、アマレクびとの国をことごとく撃ち、またハザゾン・タマルに住むアモリびとをも撃った。

⁸The king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar) went out; and they set the battle in array against them in the valley of Siddim;

⁸そこでソドムの王、ゴモラの王、アデマの王、ゼボイムの王およびベラすなわちゾアルの王は出てシデムの谷で彼らに向かい、戦いの陣をしいた。

⁹against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings against the five.

⁹すなわちエラムの王ケダラオメル、ゴイムの王テダル、シナルの王アムラペル、エラサルの王アリオクの四人の王に対する五人の王であった。

¹⁰Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell there, and those who remained fled to the hills.

¹⁰シデムの谷にはアスファルトの穴が多かったので、ソドムの王とゴモラの王は逃げてそこに落ちたが、残りの者は山にのがれた。

¹¹They took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their food, and went their way.

¹¹そこで彼らはソドムとゴモラの財産と食料とをことごとく奪って去り、

¹²They took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who lived in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

¹²またソドムに住んでいたアブラムの弟の子ロトとその財産を奪って去った。

¹³One who had escaped came and told Abram, the Hebrew. Now he lived by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner; and these were allies of Abram.

¹³時に、ひとりの人がのがれてきて、ヘブルびとアブラムに告げた。この時アブラムはエシコルの兄弟、またアネルの兄弟であるアモリびとマムレのテレビンの木のかたわらに住んでいた。彼らはアブラムと同盟していた。

¹⁴When Abram heard that his relative was taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued as far as Dan.

¹⁴アブラムは身内の者が捕虜になったのを聞き、訓練した家の子三百十八人を引き連れてダンまで追って行き、

¹⁵He divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and struck them, and pursued them to Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

¹⁵そのしもべたちを分けて、夜かれらを攻め、これを撃ってダマスコの北、ホバまで彼らを追った。

¹⁶He brought back all the goods, and also brought back his relative, Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

¹⁶そして彼はすべての財産を取り返し、また身内の者ロトとその財産および女たちと民とを取り返した。

¹⁷The king of Sodom went out to meet him, after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, at the valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).

¹⁷アブラムがケダラオメルとその連合の王たちを撃ち破って帰った時、ソドムの王はシャベの谷、すなわち王の谷に出て彼を迎えた。

¹⁸Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High.

¹⁸その時、サレムの王メルキゼデクはパンとぶどう酒とを持ってきた。彼はいと高き神の祭司である。

¹⁹He blessed him, and said, “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth:

¹⁹彼はアブラムを祝福して言った、「願わくは天地の主なるいと高き神が、アブラムを祝福されるように。

²⁰and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave him a tenth of all.

²⁰願わくはあなたの敵をあなたの手に渡されたいと高き神があがめられるように」。アブラムは彼にすべての物の十分の一を贈った。

²¹The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people, and take the goods to yourself.”

²¹時にソドムの王はアブラムに言った、「わたしには人をください。財産はあなたが取りなさい」。

²²Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted up my hand to Yahweh, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth,

²²アブラムはソドムの王に言った、「天地の主なるいと高き神、主に手をあげて、わたしは誓います。

²³that I will not take a thread nor a sandal strap nor anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’

²³わたしは糸一本でも、くつひも一本でも、あなたのものは何にも受けません。アブラムを富ませたのはわたしだと、あなたが言わないように。ただし若者たちがすでに食べた物は別です。そしてわたしと共に行った人々アネルとエシコルとマムレとにはその分を取らせなさい」。

²⁴I will accept nothing from you except that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion.”

²⁴ただし若者たちがすでに食べた物は別です。そしてわたしと共に行った人々アネルとエシコルとマムレとにはその分を取らせなさい」。
