¹The burden of Egypt: “Behold, Yahweh rides on a swift cloud, and comes to Egypt. The idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence; and the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.

¹エジプトについての託宣。見よ、主は速い雲に乗って、エジプトに来られる。エジプトのもろもろの偶像は、み前に震えおののき、エジプトびとの心は彼らのうちに溶け去る。

²I will stir up the Egyptians against the Egyptians, and they will fight everyone against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.

²わたしはエジプトびとを奮いたたせて、エジプトびとに逆らわせる。彼らはおのおのその兄弟に敵して戦い、おのおのその隣に敵し、町は町を攻め、国は国を攻める。

³The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst. I will destroy its counsel. They will seek the idols, the charmers, those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards.

³エジプトびとの魂は、彼らのうちにうせて、むなしくなる。わたしはその計りごとを破る。彼らは偶像および魔術師、巫子および魔法使に尋ね求める。

⁴I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel lord. A fierce king will rule over them,” says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.

⁵The waters will fail from the sea, and the river will be wasted and become dry.

⁶The rivers will become foul. The streams of Egypt will be diminished and dried up. The reeds and flags will wither away.

⁶またその運河は臭いにおいを放ち、エジプトのナイルの支流はややに減ってかわき、葦とよしとは枯れはてる。

⁷The meadows by the Nile, by the brink of the Nile, and all the sown fields of the Nile, will become dry, be driven away, and be no more.

⁷ナイルのほとり、ナイルの岸には裸の所があり、ナイルのほとりにまいた物はことごとく枯れ、散らされて、うせ去る。

⁸The fishermen will lament, and all those who fish in the Nile will mourn, and those who spread nets on the waters will languish.

⁸漁夫は嘆き、すべてナイルにつりをたれる者は悲しみ、網を水のおもてにうつ者は衰える。

⁹Moreover those who work in combed flax, and those who weave white cloth, will be confounded.

⁹練った麻で物を造る者と、白布を織る者は恥じる。

¹⁰The pillars will be broken in pieces. All those who work for hire will be grieved in soul.

¹⁰国の柱たる者は砕かれ、すべて雇われて働く者は嘆き悲しむ。

¹¹The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish. The counsel of the wisest counselors of Pharaoh has become stupid. How do you say to Pharaoh, “I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?”

¹¹ゾアンの君たちは全く愚かであり、パロの賢い議官らは愚かな計りごとをなす。あなたがたはどうしてパロにむかって「わたしは賢い者の子、いにしえの王の子です」と言うことができようか。

¹²Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you now; and let them know what Yahweh of Armies has purposed concerning Egypt.

¹²あなたの賢い者はどこにおるか。彼らをして、万軍の主がエジプトについて定められたことをあなたに告げ知らしめよ。

¹³The princes of Zoan have become fools. The princes of Memphis are deceived. They have caused Egypt to go astray, who are the cornerstone of her tribes.

¹⁴Yahweh has mixed a spirit of perverseness in the midst of her; and they have caused Egypt to go astray in all of its works, like a drunken man staggers in his vomit.

¹⁴主は曲った心を彼らのうちに混ぜられた。彼らはエジプトをして、すべてその行うことに迷わせ、あたかも酔った人の物吐くときによろめくようにさせた。

¹⁵Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which head or tail, palm branch or rush, may do.

¹⁵エジプトに対しては、頭あるいは尾、しゅろの枝あるいは葦が共になしうるわざはない。

¹⁶In that day the Egyptians will be like women. They will tremble and fear because of the shaking of the hand of Yahweh of Armies, which he shakes over them.

¹⁶その日、エジプトびとは女のようになり、万軍の主の彼らの上に振り動かされるみ手の前に恐れおののく。

¹⁷The land of Judah will become a terror to Egypt. Everyone to whom mention is made of it will be afraid, because of the plans of Yahweh of Armies, which he determines against it.

¹⁷ユダの地は、エジプトびとに恐れられ、ユダについて語り告げることを聞くエジプトびとはみな、万軍の主がエジプトびとにむかって定められた計りごとのゆえに恐れる。

¹⁸In that day, there will be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan, and swear to Yahweh of Armies. One will be called “The city of destruction.”

¹⁸その日、エジプトの地にカナンの国ことばを語り、また万軍の主に誓いを立てる五つの町があり、その中の一つは太陽の町ととなえられる。

¹⁹In that day, there will be an altar to Yahweh in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to Yahweh at its border.

¹⁹その日、エジプトの国の中に主をまつる一つの祭壇があり、その境に主をまつる一つの柱がある。

²⁰It will be for a sign and for a witness to Yahweh of Armies in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to Yahweh because of oppressors, and he will send them a savior and a defender, and he will deliver them.

²⁰これはエジプトの国で万軍の主に、しるしとなり、あかしとなる。彼らがしえたげる者のゆえに、主に叫び求めるとき、主は救う者をつかわして、彼らを守り助けられる。

²¹Yahweh will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know Yahweh in that day. Yes, they will worship with sacrifice and offering, and will vow a vow to Yahweh, and will perform it.

²¹主はご自分をエジプトびとに知らせられる。その日、エジプトびとは主を知り、犠牲と供え物とをもって主に仕え、主に誓願をたててこれを果す。

²²Yahweh will strike Egypt, striking and healing. They will return to Yahweh, and he will be entreated by them, and will heal them.

²³In that day there will be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria; and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians.

²³その日、エジプトからアッスリヤに通う大路があって、アッスリヤびとはエジプトに、エジプトびとはアッスリヤに行き、エジプトびとはアッスリヤびとと共に主に仕える。

²⁴In that day, Israel will be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth;

²⁴その日、イスラエルはエジプトとアッスリヤと共に三つ相並び、全地のうちで祝福をうけるものとなる。万軍の主は、これを祝福して言われる、「さいわいなるかな、わが民なるエジプト、わが手のわざなるアッスリヤ、わが嗣業なるイスラエル」と。

²⁵because Yahweh of Armies has blessed them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.”

²⁵万軍の主は、これを祝福して言われる、「さいわいなるかな、わが民なるエジプト、わが手のわざなるアッスリヤ、わが嗣業なるイスラエル」と。
