¹At that time, says Yahweh, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.

¹「主は言われる、その時わたしはイスラエルの全部族の神となり、彼らはわたしの民となる」。

²Thus says Yahweh, The people who were left of the sword found favor in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.

²主はこう言われる、「つるぎをのがれて生き残った民は、荒野で恵みを得た。イスラエルが安息を求めた時、

³Yahweh appeared of old to me, saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you.

³主は遠くから彼に現れた。わたしは限りなき愛をもってあなたを愛している。それゆえ、わたしは絶えずあなたに真実をつくしてきた。

⁴Again will I build you, and you shall be built, O virgin of Israel: again you shall be adorned with your tambourines, and shall go forth in the dances of those who make merry.

⁴イスラエルのおとめよ、再びわたしはあなたを建てる、あなたは建てられる。あなたは再び鼓をもって身を飾り、出て行って、喜び楽しむ者と共に踊る。

⁵Again you shall plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall enjoy its fruit.

⁵またあなたはぶどうの木をサマリヤの山に植える。植える者は、植えてその実を食べることができる。

⁶For there shall be a day, that the watchmen on the hills of Ephraim shall cry, Arise, and let us go up to Zion to Yahweh our God.

⁶見守る者がエフライムの山の上に立って呼ばわる日が来る。『立って、シオンに上り、われわれの神、主に、もうでよう』と」。

⁷For thus says Yahweh, Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout for the chief of the nations: publish, praise, and say, Yahweh, save your people, the remnant of Israel.

⁷主はこう仰せられる、「ヤコブのために喜んで声高く歌い、万国のかしらのために叫び声をあげよ。告げ示し、ほめたたえて言え、『主はその民イスラエルの残りの者を救われた』と。

⁸Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth, along with the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her who travails with child together: a great company shall they return here.

⁸見よ、わたしは彼らを北の国から連れ帰り、彼らを地の果から集める。彼らのうちには、盲人やあしなえ、妊婦、産婦も共にいる。彼らは大きな群れとなって、ここに帰ってくる。

⁹They shall come with weeping; and with petitions will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

⁹彼らは泣き悲しんで帰ってくる。わたしは慰めながら彼らを導き帰る。彼らがつまずかないように、まっすぐな道により、水の流れのそばを通らせる。それは、わたしがイスラエルの父であり、エフライムはわたしの長子だからである。

¹⁰Hear the word of Yahweh, you nations, and declare it in the islands afar off; and say, He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as shepherd does his flock.

¹⁰万国の民よ、あなたがたは主の言葉を聞き、これを遠い、海沿いの地に示して言いなさい、『イスラエルを散らした者がこれを集められる。牧者がその群れを守るようにこれを守られる』と。

¹¹For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he.

¹¹すなわち主はヤコブをあがない、彼らよりも強い者の手から彼を救いだされた。

¹²They shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow to the goodness of Yahweh, to the grain, and to the new wine, and to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

¹²彼らは来てシオンの山で声高く歌い、主から賜わった良い物のために、穀物と酒と油および若き羊と牛のために、喜びに輝く。その魂は潤う園のようになり、彼らは重ねて憂えることがない。

¹³Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

¹³その時おとめたちは舞って楽しみ、若い者も老いた者も共に楽しむ。わたしは彼らの悲しみを喜びにかえ、彼らを慰め、憂いの代りに喜びを与える。

¹⁴I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says Yahweh.

¹⁴わたしは多くのささげ物で、祭司の心を飽かせ、わたしの良き物で、わたしの民を満ち足らせると主は言われる」。

¹⁵Thus says Yahweh: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.

¹⁵主はこう仰せられる、「嘆き悲しみ、いたく泣く声がラマで聞える。ラケルがその子らのために嘆くのである。子らがもはやいないので、彼女はその子らのことで慰められるのを願わない」。

¹⁶Thus says Yahweh: Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says Yahweh; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

¹⁶主はこう仰せられる、「あなたは泣く声をとどめ、目から涙をながすことをやめよ。あなたのわざに報いがある。彼らは敵の地から帰ってくると主は言われる。

¹⁷There is hope for your latter end, says Yahweh; and your children shall come again to their own border.

¹⁷あなたの将来には希望があり、あなたの子供たちは自分の国に帰ってくると主は言われる。

¹⁸I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus, You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as an untrained calf: turn me, and I shall be turned; for you are Yahweh my God.

¹⁸わたしは確かに、エフライムがこう言って嘆くの聞いた、『あなたはわたしを懲しめられた、わたしはくびきに慣れない子牛のように懲しめをうけた。主よ、あなたはわたしの神、主でいらせられる、わたしを連れ帰って、もとにかえしてください。

¹⁹Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I struck on my thigh: I was ashamed, yes, even confounded, because I bore the reproach of my youth.

¹⁹わたしはそむき去った後、悔い、教をうけた後、ももを打った。若い時のはずかしめが身にあるので、わたしは恥じ、　うろたえた』。

²⁰Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a darling child? for as often as I speak against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says Yahweh.

²⁰主は言われる、エフライムはわたしの愛する子、わたしの喜ぶ子であろうか。わたしは彼について語るごとに、なお彼を忘れることができない。それゆえ、わたしの心は彼をしたっている。わたしは必ず彼をあわれむ。

²¹Set up road signs, make guideposts; set your heart toward the highway, even the way by which you went: turn again, virgin of Israel, turn again to these your cities.

²¹みずからのために道しるべを置き、みずからのために標柱を立てよ。大路に、あなたの通って行った道に心を留めよ。イスラエルのおとめよ、帰れ、これらの、あなたの町々に帰れ。

²²How long will you go here and there, you backsliding daughter? for Yahweh has created a new thing in the earth: a woman shall encompass a man.

²²不信の娘よ、いつまでさまようのか。主は地の上に新しい事を創造されたのだ、女が男を保護する事である」。

²³Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, Yet again shall they use this speech in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I shall bring again their captivity: Yahweh bless you, habitation of righteousness, mountain of holiness.

²³万軍の主、イスラエルの神はこう言われる、「わたしが彼らを再び栄えさせる時、人々はまたユダの地とその町々でこの言葉を言う、『正義のすみかよ、聖なる山よ、どうか主がおまえを祝福してくださるように』。

²⁴Judah and all its cities shall dwell therein together, the farmers, and those who go about with flocks.

²⁴ユダとそのすべての町の人、および農夫と群れを飼って歩き回る者は共にそこに住む。

²⁵For I have satiated the weary soul, and every sorrowful soul have I replenished.

²⁵わたしが疲れた魂を飽き足らせ、すべて悩んでいる魂を慰めるからである」。

²⁶On this I awakened, and saw; and my sleep was sweet to me.

²⁶ここでわたしは目をさましたが、わたしの眠りは、ここちよかった。

²⁷Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of animal.

²⁷「主は言われる、見よ、わたしが人の種と獣の種とをイスラエルの家とユダの家とにまく日が来る。

²⁸It shall happen that, like as I have watched over them to pluck up and to break down and to overthrow and to destroy and to afflict, so will I watch over them to build and to plant, says Yahweh.

²⁸わたしは彼らを抜き、砕き、倒し、滅ぼし、悩まそうと待ちかまえていたように、また彼らを建て、植えようと待ちかまえていると主は言われる。

²⁹In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.

²⁹その時、彼らはもはや、『父がすっぱいぶどうを食べたので、子どもの歯がうく』とは言わない。

³⁰But everyone shall die for his own iniquity: every man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.

³⁰人はめいめい自分の罪によって死ぬ。すっぱいぶどうを食べる人はみな、その歯がうく。

³¹Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

³¹主は言われる、見よ、わたしがイスラエルの家とユダの家とに新しい契約を立てる日が来る。

³²not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they broke, although I was a husband to them, says Yahweh.

³²この契約はわたしが彼らの先祖をその手をとってエジプトの地から導き出した日に立てたようなものではない。わたしは彼らの夫であったのだが、彼らはそのわたしの契約を破ったと主は言われる。

³³But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says Yahweh: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:

³³しかし、それらの日の後にわたしがイスラエルの家に立てる契約はこれである。すなわちわたしは、わたしの律法を彼らのうちに置き、その心にしるす。わたしは彼らの神となり、彼らはわたしの民となると主は言われる。

³⁴and they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know Yahweh; for they shall all know me, from their least to their greatest, says Yahweh: for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.

³⁴人はもはや、おのおのその隣とその兄弟に教えて、『あなたは主を知りなさい』とは言わない。それは、彼らが小より大に至るまで皆、わたしを知るようになるからであると主は言われる。わたしは彼らの不義をゆるし、もはやその罪を思わない」。

³⁵Thus says Yahweh, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, so that its waves roar; Yahweh of Armies is his name:

³⁵主はこう言われる、すなわち太陽を与えて昼の光とし、月と星とを定めて夜の光とし、海をかき立てて、その波を鳴りとどろかせる者――その名は万軍の主という。

³⁶If these ordinances depart from before me, says Yahweh, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever.

³⁶主は言われる、「もしこの定めがわたしの前ですたれてしまうなら、イスラエルの子孫もすたって、永久にわたしの前で民であることはできない」。

³⁷Thus says Yahweh: If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, then will I also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says Yahweh.

³⁷主はこう言われる、「もし上の天を量ることができ、下の地の基を探ることができるなら、そのとき、わたしはイスラエルのすべての子孫をそのもろもろの行いのために捨て去ると主は言われる」。

³⁸Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that the city shall be built to Yahweh from the tower of Hananel to the gate of the corner.

³⁸主は言われる、「見よ、この町が、ハナネルの塔から隅の門まで、主のために再建される時が来る。

³⁹The measuring line shall go out further straight onward to the hill Gareb, and shall turn about to Goah.

³⁹測りなわはそれよりも遠くまっすぐに延びて、ガレブの丘に達し、ゴアのほうに向かう。死体と灰との谷の全部、またキデロンの谷に行くまでと、東のほうの馬の門のすみに行くまでとのすべての畑はみな主の聖なる所となり、永遠にわたって、ふたたび抜かれ、また倒されることはない」。

⁴⁰The whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields to the brook Kidron, to the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy to Yahweh; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more forever.

⁴⁰死体と灰との谷の全部、またキデロンの谷に行くまでと、東のほうの馬の門のすみに行くまでとのすべての畑はみな主の聖なる所となり、永遠にわたって、ふたたび抜かれ、また倒されることはない」。
