1It happened that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus, and found certain disciples.
2Yers-ed fell-awen Ṛṛuḥ iqedsen asmi i tumnem ? Rran-as : Leɛmeṛ nesli s Ṛṛuḥ-agi iqedsen.
2He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
3Yenna-yasen : Anwa aɣḍas i-s-tețwaɣeḍsem ihi ? Rran-as : S weɣḍas n Yeḥya.
3He said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.”
4Bulus yenna-yasen : Yeḥya yesseɣḍes wid akk iqeblen ad beddlen tikli, yeqqaṛ i wegdud ad amnen s win ara d-yasen deffir-es, yeɛni s Sidna Ɛisa.
4Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Jesus.”
5Mi slan i yimeslayen-agi, țwaɣeḍsen s yisem n Sidna Ɛisa.
5When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6Akken yessers Bulus ifassen-is fell-asen, ikcem-iten Ṛṛuḥ iqedsen, bdan heddṛen s tutlayin ur nețwassen ara, yerna țcaren-d ayen i sen-d-yusan s ɣuṛ Sidi Ṛebbi.
6When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.
7Imdanen-agi ad ilin di tnac yid-sen.
7They were about twelve men in all.
8Dɣa Bulus ikcem ɣer lǧameɛ n wat Isṛail. Azal n tlata wagguren ițmeslay yid-sen, ițqenniɛ-iten iwakken ad amnen s wayen yeɛnan tagelda n Sidi Ṛebbi.
8He entered into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for a period of three months, reasoning and persuading about the things concerning the Kingdom of God.
9Lameɛna kra deg-sen yeqquṛ wul-nsen ugin ad amnen, rnan kkaten deg webrid n Sidna Ɛisa zdat lɣaci. Mi gwala annect-agi, Bulus iṭṭaxeṛ-asen, yewwi yid-es inelmaden, isselmad-iten kull ass deg wexxam n yiwen wergaz isem-is Tiranus.
9But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.
10Yeqqim dinna sin iseggasen armi imezdaɣ meṛṛa n tmurt n Asya, ama d at Isṛail ama d iyunaniyen, slan i wawal n Sidi Ṛebbi.
10This continued for two years, so that all those who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
11Sidi Ṛebbi ixeddem lbeṛhanat imeqqranen s ifassen n Bulus ;
11God worked special miracles by the hands of Paul,
12lɣaci wwḍen armi srusun ɣef yimuḍan ula ț-țimucwaṛin neɣ iceṭṭiḍen yennulen Bulus, dɣa imuḍan ḥellun, wid akk yețțumelken țeffɣen ten leǧnun.
12so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and the evil spirits went out.
13Kra iseḥḥaren n wat Isṛail, ileḥḥun seg wemkan ɣer wayeḍ, ɛerden ad ssuffɣen leǧnun seg wid yețwamelken, qqaṛen-asen : S yisem n Sidna Ɛisa, win akken i gețbecciṛ Bulus, effɣet seg-es !
13But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”

14There were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.
15Lǧen-nni yerra-yasen-d : Ɛisa ssneɣ-t, ssneɣ daɣen anwa i d Bulus, ma d kunwi d acu-kkun ?
15The evil spirit answered, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”
16Argaz-nni i gezdeɣ lǧen, izḍem fell-asen yekkat-iten armi rewlen seg wexxam d iɛeryanen, yerna jerḥen.
16The man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
17At Isṛail akk-d iyunaniyen meṛṛa izedɣen tamdint n Ifasus slan s wayagi, ikcem-iten meṛṛa lxuf, ḥemmden isem n Sidna Ɛisa.
17This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived at Ephesus. Fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
18Aṭas seg wid i gumnen, usan-d ad qiṛṛen zdat wiyaḍ, ḥkan-d ayen xedmen.
18Many also of those who had believed came, confessing, and declaring their deeds.
19Aṭas seg wid yellan xeddmen ssḥur, wwin-d tiktabin-nsen s wayes xeddmen ssḥur, sseṛɣen-tent zdat medden. Ufan belli azal n xemsin alef n twiztin i d ssuma-nsent.
19Many of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. They counted their price, and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver. The 50,000 pieces of silver here probably referred to 50,000 drachmas. If so, the value of the burned books was equivalent to about 160 man-years of wages for agricultural laborers
20S wakka i gewweḍ wawal n Sidi Ṛebbi ɣer mkul amkan, ițnerni s tezmert n Sidi Ṛebbi.
20So the word of the Lord was growing and becoming mighty.
21Mi gɛedda wayagi akk, Bulus yeqsed ad iṛuḥ ɣer temdint n Lquds, ad iɛeddi si tmura n Masidunya akk-d Akaya ; ixemmem deg iman-is yenna : « M'ara awḍeɣ ɣer dinna, ilaq-iyi daɣen ad ṛuḥeɣ ɣer temdint n Ṛuma.»
21Now after these things had ended, Paul determined in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”
22Iceggeɛ ɣer tmurt n Masidunya sin seg imɛawnen-is, Timuti d Irastus ; ma d nețța yerna kra n wussan di tmurt n Asya.
22Having sent into Macedonia two of those who served him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.
23Di lweqt-nni, ɣef ddemma n webrid n Sidi Ṛebbi ikker ccwal d ameqqran di temdint n Ifasus.
23About that time there arose no small stir concerning the Way.
24Yella yiwen uḥeddad isem-is Dimitriyus, iṣenneɛ s lfeṭṭa leǧwameɛ imecṭaḥ i d-yețmettilen lǧameɛ n Artimis, yesserbeḥ aṭas ixeddamen-is.
24For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen,
25Isnejmaɛ-iten nutni d wid i gxeddmen lfeṭṭa am nețța, yenna yasen : Ay atmaten ! Teẓram belli rrbeḥ-nneɣ itekk-ed si lxedma-agi ;
25whom he gathered together, with the workmen of like occupation, and said, “Sirs, you know that by this business we have our wealth.
26teẓram yerna teslam daɣen ɣef Bulus-agi issamnen aṭas n lɣaci di temdint n Ifasus d waṭas n tmura n Asya. Yessamen lɣaci, yewwi-ten d webrid-is mi sen-iqqaṛ : « Iṛebbiten agi ițwaxedmen s ifassen n wemdan mačči d iṛebbiten n tideț » ;
26You see and hear, that not at Ephesus alone, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods, that are made with hands.
27ur nuggad ara kan aț-țeɣli ṣṣenɛa-nneɣ, lameɛna nuggad ad sseɣlin lqima i lǧameɛ n Artimis tameqqrant, taṛebbiț-nneɣ, qṛib a s-kksen lɛaḍima s wayes tețwaɛbed di tmurt n Asya d ddunit meṛṛa.
27Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing, and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.”
28Mi slan i lehduṛ-agi, ikcem-iten wurrif, bdan țɛeggiḍen : Ț-țameqqrant Artimis, taṛebbiț n at Ifasus !
28When they heard this they were filled with anger, and cried out, saying, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
29Tețțucewwel akk temdint, lɣaci uzzlen ɣer wexxam n umezgun, seddan yid-sen Gayus akk-d Aristark yellan d imasiduniyen, d iṛfiqen n Bulus, ițṣafaṛen yid-es.
29The whole city was filled with confusion, and they rushed with one accord into the theater, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel.
30Bulus yebɣa ad ikcem di tlemmast n lɣaci-nni, lameɛna ugin-as inelmaden.
30When Paul wanted to enter in to the people, the disciples didn’t allow him.
31Ula d kra n lḥukkam imeqqranen n tmurt n Asya yellan d imdukkal-is, ceggɛen ɣuṛ-es iwakken a t-ḥellelen ur ițṛuḥ ara ɣer wexxam n umezgun.
31Certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent to him and begged him not to venture into the theater.
32Anejmaɛ-nni yexṛeb, kra țɛeggiḍen akka, wiyaḍ akken nniḍen yerna aṭas deg-sen ur ẓrin ara acu i d sebba n unejmaɛ-nni.
32Some therefore cried one thing, and some another, for the assembly was in confusion. Most of them didn’t know why they had come together.
33At Isṛail sbedden-d Alixandru ad immeslay i lɣaci. Iwehha-yasen ufus-is ad ssusmen, iwakken a d-ihdeṛ,
33They brought Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made a defense to the people.
34lameɛna mi t-ɛeqlen n wat Isṛail i gella, bdan țɛeggiḍen meṛṛa ɣef tikkelt azal n snat sswayeɛ : Ț-țameqqrant Artimis n at Ifasus !
34But when they perceived that he was a Jew, all with one voice for a time of about two hours cried out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
35Lameɛna lamin n temdint ihedden lɣaci, yenna-yasen : Ay at Ifasus, anwa ur neẓri ara belli tamdint n Ifasus ț-țaɛessast n lǧameɛ Artimis tameqqrant akk-d lmeṣnuɛ-ines i d-iɣlin seg igenni ?
35When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?
36Imi ayagi yiwen ur yezmir a t-yenkeṛ, ilaq ihi aț-țhennim iman-nwen, ur xeddmet acemma s tuffɣa n leɛqel !
36Seeing then that these things can’t be denied, you ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rash.
37Axaṭer irgazen-agi i d-tewwim ur ukiren lǧameɛ, ur rgimen Artimis taṛebbiț-nneɣ.
37For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess.
38Ihi ma yella Dimitriyus d imdukkal-is sɛan sebba n uccetki ɣef yiwen, llan wussan n ccṛeɛ am akken llan lḥukkam ara ten-icaṛɛen , ad ṛuḥen ad ccetkin fell-asen.
38If therefore Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a matter against anyone, the courts are open, and there are proconsuls. Let them press charges against one another.
39Ma yella wayen nniḍen i tessuturem deg-sen, ad ḥekmen fell-asen deg unejmaɛ zdat lḥukkam.
39But if you seek anything about other matters, it will be settled in the regular assembly.
40Atan nuggad ad ccetkin fell-aɣ ɣef wayen yedṛan ass-agi imi ulac sebba ara nefk ɣef wunejmaɛ-agi. Mi gfukk ameslay, iserreḥ i lɣaci, yefra unejmaɛ.
40For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning this day’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”
41When he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
