1It was now two days before the feast of the Passover and the unleavened bread, and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might seize him by deception, and kill him.

2For they said, “Not during the feast, because there might be a riot of the people.”
2Qqaṛen : Ur nezmir ara a t-nessekcem ɣer lḥebs deg wass n lɛid, neɣ m'ulac lɣaci ad sekkren ccwal.
3While he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard—very costly. She broke the jar, and poured it over his head.
3Sidna Ɛisa yella di taddart n Bitanya, deg wexxam n Semɛun ihelken lbeṛs ; mi qqimen ad ččen, ațaya yiwet n tmeṭṭut tekcem-ed, tewwi-d yid-es taqbuct ițwaxedmen s wezṛu amellal, teččuṛ d leɛṭeṛ yeṣfan ɣlayen. Teṛẓa taqbuct-nni, tesmar-iț ɣef wuqeṛṛuy n Sidna Ɛisa.
4But there were some who were indignant among themselves, saying, “Why has this ointment been wasted?
4Kra deg-sen zeɛfen nnan : Acuɣer i tessexṣeṛ leɛṭeṛ-agi ?
5For this might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, 300 denarii was about a years wages for an agricultural laborer. and given to the poor.” They grumbled against her.
5Lemmer i t-nezzenz, a d-yawi akteṛ n telt meyya twiztin n lfeṭṭa ara nefṛeq i igellilen ! Dɣa rfan ɣef tmeṭṭut-nni.
6But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for me.
6Sidna Ɛisa yenna : Anfet-as acimi i ț-tesnuɣnayem ? Ayen akka i yi-texdem d ayen yelhan !
7 For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want to, you can do them good; but you will not always have me.
7Igellilen ad ilin daymen gar-awen, tzemrem a ten-tɛiwnem melmi i wen yehwa ; ma d nekkini ur țɣimiɣ ara daymen yid-wen.
8 She has done what she could. She has anointed my body beforehand for the burying.
8Ayen tezmer a t-texdem texdem it : tedhen lǧețța-w thegga-ț i temḍelt.
9 Most certainly I tell you, wherever this Good News may be preached throughout the whole world, that which this woman has done will also be spoken of for a memorial of her.”
9A wen-d-iniɣ tideț : di mkul amkan n ddunit anda ara yețțubecceṛ lexbaṛ-agi n lxiṛ, a d-țmektayen tameṭṭut-agi d wayen akka texdem.
10Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might deliver him to them.
10Yudas n Qeṛyut yiwen si tnac inelmaden, iṛuḥ ɣer imeqqranen n lmuqedmin, yemsefham yid-sen amek ara sen yezzenz Sidna Ɛisa.
11They, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. He sought how he might conveniently deliver him.
11Feṛḥen aṭas mi s-slan, ɛuhden-t a s-fken idrimen. Imiren Yudas ițqellib tagniț i deg ara sen-t-yezzenz.
12On the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the Passover, his disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare that you may eat the Passover?”
12Ass amenzu n Tfaska n weɣṛum mbla tamtunt ( iɣes ), i deg zellun izimer n leslak, inelmaden nnan i Sidna Ɛisa : Anda tebɣiḍ a nheggi imensi n Tfaska ?
13He sent two of his disciples, and said to them, “Go into the city, and there you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him,
13Iceggeɛ sin seg inelmaden-is, yenna-yasen : Ṛuḥet ɣer temdint, a d-temlilem d yiwen wergaz yewwi-d tacmuxt n waman, tebɛet-eț ɣer wanda ara yekcem,
14 and wherever he enters in, tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’
14init i bab n wexxam-nni : Ssid-nneɣ yenna-yak : « anda-ț texxamt i deg ara ččeɣ imensi n Tfaska n izimer nekk d inelmaden-iw ? »
15 He will himself show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Get ready for us there.”
15A kkun-yessali ɣer yiwet n tɣuṛfeț tameqqrant iwesɛen, kullec yella deg-s. Dinna ara theggim imensi n Tfaska.
16His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found things as he had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
16Inelmaden ṛuḥen, mi wwḍen ɣer temdint, ufan kullec akken i sen-t yenna. Dɣa heggan imensi n Tfaska.
17When it was evening he came with the twelve.
17Mi d-teɣli tmeddit, Sidna Ɛisa yusa-d akk-d tnac-nni inelmaden.
18As they sat and were eating, Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you, one of you will betray me—he who eats with me.”
18Mi qqimen ad ččen, Sidna Ɛisa yenna yasen : A wen-iniɣ tideț : yiwen seg-wen itețțen yid-i, ad iyi-ixdeɛ.
19They began to be sorrowful, and to ask him one by one, “Surely not I?” And another said, “Surely not I?”
19Yeɣli-d leḥzen fell-asen, bdan steqsayen-t yiwen yiwen qqaṛen-as : A Sidi, neɣ mačči d nekk ?
20He answered them, “It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.
20Yenna-yasen : D yiwen seg-wen, yessasnen yid-i talqimt n weɣṛum deg uḍebsi.
21 For the Son of Man goes, even as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”
21?-țideț, Mmi-s n bunadem ad iṛuḥ akken yețwakteb fell-as di tira iqedsen ; meɛna a nnger n wergaz-nni ara t-ixedɛen. Axiṛ-as lemmer ur d-ilul ara ɣer ddunit !
22As they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had blessed, he broke it, and gave to them, and said, “Take, eat. This is my body.”
22Mi bdan tețțen, Sidna Ɛisa yeddem-d aɣṛum, yeḥmed Ṛebbi, yebḍa-t, ifṛeq-it i inelmaden-is, yenna yasen : ?čet-eț, ayagi d-lǧețța-w.
23He took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them. They all drank of it.
23Yeddem-ed daɣen lkas n ccṛab, yeḥmed Ṛebbi, yefka-yasen, swan meṛṛa seg-s.
24He said to them, “This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many.
24Sidna Ɛisa yenna-yasen : Ayagi d idammen n leɛqed amaynut, d idammen-iw ara yazlen ɣef waṭas n yemdanen.
25 Most certainly I tell you, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it anew in the Kingdom of God.”
25S tideț nniɣ-awen : ur țuɣaleɣ ara ad sweɣ si lfakya n tẓurin, alamma d ass i deg ara sweɣ ccṛab ajdid di tgelda n Ṛebbi.
26When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
26Mi cnan isefra n ?abur, ulin ɣer yiɣil n uzemmur.
27Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ Zechariah 13:7
27Sidna Ɛisa yenna-yasen : A kkun-yewwet akk wugur akken yețwakteb : Ad ewwteɣ ameksa, ulli ad rewlent ɣer mkul lǧiha .
28 However, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.”
28Yerna-yasen-d : Meɛna m'ara d-ḥyuɣ si ger lmegtin a wen-zwireɣ ɣer tmurt n Jlili.
29But Peter said to him, “Although all will be offended, yet I will not.”
29Buṭrus yenna-yas : ?as ad ccḍen akk, nekkini ur țeccḍeɣ ara.
30Jesus said to him, “Most certainly I tell you, that you today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”
30Sidna Ɛisa yerra-yas : A k-d-iniɣ tideț : iḍ-agi uqbel ad yeskkuɛ uyaziḍ snat n tikkal, kečč a i-tnekṛeḍ tlata iberdan.
31But he spoke all the more, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” They all said the same thing.
31Meɛna Buṭrus yenna-yas daɣen : Ad qebleɣ ad dduɣ yid-ek ula ɣer lmut wala a k-nekkṛeɣ. Inelmaden nniḍen nnan-d meṛṛa akken.
32They came to a place which was named Gethsemane. He said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I pray.”
32Mi wwḍen ɣer tmazirt n Jitsimani, Sidna Ɛisa yenna-yasen i inelmaden-is : Qqimet dagi, ma d nekk ad ṛuḥeɣ ad ẓalleɣ.
33He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed.
33Yewwi yid-es Buṭrus, Yeɛqub akk-d Yuḥenna. Yetḥeyyeṛ, tekcem-it tugdi.
34He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch.”
34Yenna-yasen : ?usseɣ s leḥzen n lmut ; qqimet dagi, ɛiwzet !
35He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.
35Issebɛed iman-is fell-asen, iḍeggeṛ iman-is ɣer lqaɛa, yedɛa ɣer Sidi Ṛebbi ma yella wamek ara yessebɛed fell-as taswiɛt-nni n leɛtab.
36He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire.”
36Yeqqaṛ-as : A baba, a baba Ṛebbi ! Kečč tzemreḍ i kullec ; ssebɛed fell-i lkas-agi n leɛtab. Lameɛna d lebɣi-k kan ara yedṛun mačči d lebɣi-w.
37He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you watch one hour?
37Yuɣal-ed ɣer inelmaden-is, yufa-ten-id ṭṭsen. Yenna i Buṭrus : A Semɛun, teṭṭseḍ ? Ur tezmireḍ ara aț-țɛiwzeḍ ula d ssaɛa ?
38 Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
38Ɛiwzet tẓallem, iwakken ur tɣellim ara deg ujeṛṛeb. Ṛṛuḥ yeǧhed yerna yebɣa, meɛna lǧețța ur tezmir ara, tulwa.
39Again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words.
39Issebɛed iman-is daɣen, iɛawed i tẓallit-nni.
40Again he returned, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy, and they didn’t know what to answer him.
40Mi d-yuɣal yufa-ten daɣen ṭsen, iɣleb-iten nuddam. Ur ẓrin d acu ara s-d-erren.
41He came the third time, and said to them, “Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
41Yuɣal-ed tikkelt tis tlata yenna yasen : Mazal-ikkun teṭṭsem, testeɛfam ! Dayen tura, tewweḍ-ed teswiɛt-nni ! Mmi-s n bunadem ițusellem ger ifassen n imednuben.
42 Arise, let us be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”
42Kkret fell awen a nṛuḥet ! Win i yi-izzenzen yewweḍ-ed.
43Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came—and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.
43Mazal-it iheddeṛ, mi d-yewweḍ Yudas, yiwen si tnac-nni. Ddan-d yid-es aṭas n lɣaci s iɛekkzan d ijenwiyen, ceggɛen-ten-id lɛulama n ccariɛa, imeqqranen n lmuqedmin akk-d imeqqranen n wegdud.
44Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely.”
44Win akken i gzenzen Sidna Ɛisa yemsefham yid-sen, yenna-yasen : Win i ɣef ara selmeɣ, d nețța ; ṭṭfet-eț tefkem-t i iɛessasen a t-awin.
45When he had come, immediately he came to him, and said, “Rabbi! Rabbi!” and kissed him.
45Akken kan i d-yewweḍ, iqeṛṛeb ed ɣer Sidna Ɛisa yenna-yas : A Sidi ! Dɣa isellem fell-as.
46They laid their hands on him, and seized him.
46Imiren lɣaci mmɣen ɣef Sidna Ɛisa, ṭṭfen-t.
47But a certain one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
47Yiwen seg wid yellan dinna ijbed-ed ajenwi, yewwet aqeddac n lmuqeddem ameqqran, igzem-as ameẓẓuɣ.
48Jesus answered them, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me?
48Sidna Ɛisa yenna-yasen : Teffɣem-d ɣuṛ-i s ijenwiyen d iɛekzan am akken d amcum i lliɣ ?
49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me. But this is so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.”
49Mkul ass lliɣ yid-wen sselmadeɣ di lǧameɛ, yiwen ur yessers afus-is fell-i. Meɛna ayagi yedṛa-d, iwakken ad nnekmalent tira iqedsen.
50They all left him, and fled.
50Imiren ǧǧan-t akk inelmaden-is, rewlen.
51A certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth thrown around himself, over his naked body. The young men grabbed him,
51Yiwen ilemẓi yelsan anagar timelḥeft itbeɛ-it. Emmɣen fell-as a t-ṭṭfen,
52but he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
52meɛna iserreḥ i tmelḥeft-nni, yerwel akken d aɛeryan.
53They led Jesus away to the high priest. All the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes came together with him.
53Wwin Sidna Ɛisa ɣer wexxam n lmuqeddem ameqqran, anda nnejmaɛen imeqqranen n lmuqedmin, lɛulama n ccariɛa akk-d imeqqranen n wegdud.
54Peter had followed him from a distance, until he came into the court of the high priest. He was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light of the fire.
54Buṭrus itbeɛ-it s lebɛid, armi d azniq n wexxam n lmuqeddem ameqqran. Yeqqim ger iɛessasen, yesseḥmuy ɣer tmes.
55Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witnesses against Jesus to put him to death, and found none.
55Lmuqedmin imeqqranen akk-d tejmaɛt n ccṛeɛ, țnadin cchada iṣṣeḥan s wacu ara ḥekmen fell-as s lmut, lameɛna ur ufin ara.
56For many gave false testimony against him, and their testimony didn’t agree with each other.
56Aṭas i gcehden fell-as s ẓẓur, lameɛna cchadat-nsen ur ṣṣeḥant ara.
57Some stood up, and gave false testimony against him, saying,
57Kra deg-sen kkren-d ad cehden fell-as s ẓẓur, nnan :
58“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.’”
58Nesla-yas mi d-yenna : « ad huddeɣ lǧameɛ-agi iqedsen yebnan s ufus n wemdan ; di tlata wussan, ad bnuɣ wayeḍ ur nețwabennuy ara s ufus n wemdan.»
59Even so, their testimony did not agree.
59Lameɛna ula ɣef wayagi cchadat nsen ur ṣṣeḥant ara.
60The high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer? What is it which these testify against you?”
60Lmuqeddem ameqqran ibedd di tlemmast n tejmaɛt, yesteqsa Sidna Ɛisa yenna-yas : Ur d-tețțaraḍ ara awal ? Acu akka i d-qqaṛen yemdanen-agi i d-icehden fell-ak ?
61But he stayed quiet, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”
61Sidna Ɛisa yessusem ur d-yerri acemma. Ameqqran n lmuqedmin iɛawed isteqsa-t yenna-yas : Kečč, d Lmasiḥ Mmi-s n Ṛebbi yețțubarken ?
62Jesus said, “I am. You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the sky.”
62Sidna Ɛisa yerra-yas : ?-țideț, d nekk ! Yerna aț-țeẓrem Mmi-s n bunadem yeqqim ɣer tama tayeffust n Bab n tezmert ; a t-twalim asmi ara d-yas seg igenwan ɣef wusigna.
63The high priest tore his clothes, and said, “What further need have we of witnesses?
63Lmuqeddem ameqqran icerreg aqenduṛ-is yenna : Ur nuḥwaǧ ara inigan nniḍen !
64You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?” They all condemned him to be worthy of death.
64Teslam akken yekfeṛ ? D acu twalam ? ?ekmen fell-as s lmut akken ma llan.
65Some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to tell him, “Prophesy!” The officers struck him with the palms of their hands.
65Kra seg-sen ssusufen-t, țɣummun-as udem-is, kkaten-t s lbunyat qqaṛen-as : Eɛqel anwa i k-id-yewten ! Iɛessasen-nni wwin-t, kkaten-t s ibeqqayen.
66As Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the maids of the high priest came,
66Buṭrus mazal-it deg ufrag n wexxam n lmuqeddem ameqqran ; ațaya yiwet n tqeddact,
67and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said, “You were also with the Nazarene, Jesus!”
67twala-t yesseḥmay, tmuqel-it nezzeh, tenna yas : Ula d kečč telliḍ akk-d Ɛisa anaṣari.
68But he denied it, saying, “I neither know, nor understand what you are saying.” He went out on the porch, and the rooster crowed.
68Inkeṛ yenna : Ur ẓriɣ, ur fhimeɣ ayen i d-teqqaṛeḍ. Dɣa yeffeɣ, iṛuḥ ɣer wesqif. Imiren kan yeskkuɛ uyaziḍ .
69The maid saw him, and began again to tell those who stood by, “This is one of them.”
69Twala-t daɣen tqeddact-nni, tenna i wid yellan dinna : Argaz-agi d yiwen seg-sen ! Yenkeṛ tikkelt tis snat.
70But he again denied it. After a little while again those who stood by said to Peter, “You truly are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it.”
70Taswiɛt kan, wid yellan dinna nnan daɣen i Buṭrus : Mbla ccekk ula d kečč telliḍ seg-sen, axaṭer d ajlili i telliḍ.
71But he began to curse, and to swear, “I don’t know this man of whom you speak!”
71Yebda yețgalla yeqqaṛ : A yi-inɛel Ṛebbi ma skaddbeɣ ! Ur ssineɣ ara argaz-agi i ɣef tețmeslayem.
72The rooster crowed the second time. Peter remembered the word, how that Jesus said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” When he thought about that, he wept.
