Matthew

3

1In those days, John the Baptizer came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,
1Deg wussan-nni, iban-ed Yeḥya aɣeṭṭas, yețbecciṛ deg unezṛuf n tmurt n Yahuda,
2“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”
2iqqaṛ-ed : Tubet, beddlet tikli, axaṭer tagelda n igenwan tqeṛṛeb-ed.
3For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight.”
3Fell-as i d-immeslay nnbi Iceɛya mi d-yenna : Ț-țaɣect n win ițɛeggiḍen di lxali : Heggit abrid n Sidi Ṛebbi, ssemsawit iberdan-is.
4Now John himself wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
4Yeḥya yelsa llebsa yețwaxedmen s ccɛeṛ n welɣem, tabagust n weglim ɣef wammas-is, tamɛict-is d ibẓaẓ akk-d tament n lexla.
5Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him.
5Imezdaɣ meṛṛa n temdint n Lquds, tamurt n Yahuda akk-d tmura i d-yezzin i wasif n Urdun, țțasen-d ɣuṛ-es
6They were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.
6iwakken a d-qiṛṛen s ddnubat nsen, nețța yesseɣḍas-iten deg wasif nni n Urdun.
7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism, he said to them, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
7Mi gwala aṭas n at ifariziyen d isaduqiyen i d-ițasen ad țwaɣeḍsen, yenna-yasen : A ccetla n izerman, anwa i kkun isfaqen belli tzemrem aț-țrewlem i lḥisab i d-iteddun ?
8Therefore bring forth fruit worthy of repentance!
8Sbeggnet-ed s lecɣal-nwen belli tettubem, tbeddlem tikli.
9Don’t think to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
9Ur qqaṛet ara i yiman-nwen : « Sidna Ibṛahim d jeddi-tneɣ » ! Axaṭer, a wen-iniɣ : SSidi Ṛebbi yezmer a d-yefk dderya i Ibṛahim seg idɣaɣen-agi.
10“Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
10Ațan ihi tcaquṛt thegga ɣer izuṛan n ttjuṛ, yal ttejṛa ur d-nețțak ara lfakya lɛali, aț-țețwagzem, aț-țețwaḍeggeṛ ɣer tmes.
11I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
11Nekk sseɣḍaseɣ-kkun deg waman iwakken aț-țetubem, lameɛna a d-yas yiwen yesɛan tazmert akteṛ-iw, ur uklaleɣ ara a s-fsiɣ ula d arkasen is. Nețța a kkun-yesseɣḍes s Ṛṛuḥ iqedsen ț-țmes.
12His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.”
12Tazzert deg ufus-is, ad yebrez annar-is, ad ijmeɛ irden-is ɣer ikuffan, ma d alim a t-yesseṛɣ di tmes ur nxețți.
13Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.
13Sidna Ɛisa yusa-d si tmurt n Jlili ɣer wasif n Urdun iwakken a t- yesseɣḍes Yeḥya.
14But John would have hindered him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”
14Yeḥya yugi, yenna-yas : D nekk i geḥwaǧen ad iyi- tesɣeḍseḍ, kečč tusiḍ-ed ɣuṛ-i iwakken a k-sɣeḍseɣ !
15But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.
15Sidna Ɛisa yerra-yas : Anef tura ! Akkagi i glaq a nexdem lebɣi n Sidi Ṛebbi ! DDɣa Yeḥya yunef-as.
16Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.
16Mi gețwaɣḍes Sidna Ɛisa, yeffeɣ-ed seg waman ; imiren kan ldin igenwan, yers-ed fell-as Ṛṛuḥ n Sidi Ṛebbi s ṣṣifa n tetbirt.
17Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
17Tekka-d yiwet n taɣect seg igenwan, tenna-d : «` Wagi d Mmi ameɛzuz, deg-s i gella lfeṛḥ-iw ! »
