1 Corinthians

14

1Follow after love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
1Jo'can nak ninye êre, cheq'uehak êch'ôl chi rahoc ut chesic'ak lê mâtan li naxq'ue li Santil Musik'ej. Li mâtan li k'axal lok', a'an xyebal resil li c'a'ru yô chi xc'utbal chêru li Dios.
2For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands; but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries.
2Li ani naâtinac sa' jalanil âtin inc'a' naâtinac riq'uin li rech cristianil. Riq'uin ban li Dios naâtinac. Ut mâ ani nata'oc ru li c'a'ru naxye. Riq'uin xcuanquil li Santil Musik'ej naxye lix yâlal li inc'a' natauman ru.
3But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, exhortation, and consolation.
3Ut li ani naxye resil li nac'ute' chiru xban li Dios, li jun a'an naxtenk'aheb li rech aj pâbanelil sa' lix pâbâleb. Naxch'olob xyâlal chiruheb ut naxc'ojobeb xch'ôl.
4He who speaks in another language edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the assembly.
4Li ani naâtinac sa' jalanil âtin naxtenk'a rib xjunes rib. Abanan li ani naxch'olob xyâlal li râtin li Dios, li jun a'an naxtenk'aheb li rech aj pâbanelil sa' lix pâbâleb.
5Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but rather that you would prophesy. For he is greater who prophesies than he who speaks with other languages, unless he interprets, that the assembly may be built up.
5Nacuaj raj nak chêjunilex tex-âtinak ta sa' jalanil âtin li inc'a' natauman ru. Abanan k'axal cui'chic nacuaj raj nak chêjunilex têye resil reheb lê ras êrîtz'in sa' lê râtinobâl c'a'ru quic'ute' chêru xban li Dios. K'axal us nak têye li râtin li Dios sa' lê râtinobâl chiru li âtinac sa' jalanil âtin li inc'a' natauman ru. Abanan cui junak naâtinac sa' jalanil âtin, tento nak tâjalmânk ru li râtin re nak eb laj pâbanel te'xtau ru li c'a'ru tixye ut te'tenk'âk xban.
6But now, brothers, if I come to you speaking with other languages, what would I profit you, unless I speak to you either by way of revelation, or of knowledge, or of prophesying, or of teaching?
6Ex inhermân, ¿c'a'ru tâoc cui' êre nak tincuulak êriq'uin ut tinâtinak êriq'uin sa' jalanil âtin li inc'a' natauman ru? Mâc'a' aj e. Abanan cui tinâtinak êriq'uin sa' lê râtinobâl, texintenk'a nak tinch'olob xyâlal chêru jo' quic'ute' chicuu xban li Dios. Ut tâc'anjelak chêru cui tinye êre li râtin li Dios ut tinye êre c'a'ru tâc'ulmânk jo' tz'îbanbil sa' li Santil Hu.
7Even things without life, giving a voice, whether pipe or harp, if they didn’t give a distinction in the sounds, how would it be known what is piped or harped?
7Ut jo'can ajcui' li c'a'ak re ru inc'a' yo'yo jo' li xôlb ut li arpa. Cui inc'a' nach'e'man chi tz'akal inc'a' nac'utun li c'a'ru yô chixyâbasinquil ut mâc'a' rajbal nak nach'e'man.
8For if the trumpet gave an uncertain sound, who would prepare himself for war?
8Ut nak tâyâbasîk li trompeta re xbokbaleb li soldado, cui inc'a' ch'olch'o ru lix yâb, ¿ma te'xcauresi ta bi' rib chi xic chi pletic?
9So also you, unless you uttered by the tongue words easy to understand, how would it be known what is spoken? For you would be speaking into the air.
9Ut jo'can ajcui' lâex cui inc'a' nequex-âtinac chi tz'akal re ru, ¿chanru nak tâtaumânk ru li c'a'ru yôquex chixyebal? Yal na-oso' sa' ik' ut mâc'a' rajbal li têye.
10There are, it may be, so many kinds of sounds in the world, and none of them is without meaning.
10Yâl nak q'uila pây chi âtinobâl cuan sa' ruchich'och' ut chixjunil cuan xyâlal ut natauman ru.
11If then I don’t know the meaning of the sound, I would be to him who speaks a foreigner, and he who speaks would be a foreigner to me.
11Abanan cui lâin inc'a' nintau ru li râtinobâl junak, li jun a'an mâc'a' rajbal nak yôk chi âtinac cuiq'uin ut mâc'a' ajcui' rajbal nak yôkin chi âtinac riq'uin.
12So also you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, seek that you may abound to the building up of the assembly.
12Lâex nequeraj xc'ulbal li mâtan naxq'ue li Santil Musik'ej. Abanan lâin ninye êre chesic'ak li mâtan li natenk'an reheb chixjunileb laj pâbanel.
13Therefore let him who speaks in another language pray that he may interpret.
13Ut li ani cuan xmâtan chi âtinac sa' jalanil âtin, li inc'a' natauman ru, chixtz'âmahak chiru li Dios re nak târûk tixye xyâlal li c'a'ru quixye sa' li jalanil âtin re nak târûk tixch'olob xyâlal chiruheb li rech aj pâbanelil.
14For if I pray in another language, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
14Cui lâin tintijok sa' jalanil âtin lin musik' tâtijok ut lâin inc'a' nintau ru li c'a'ru tinye chi moco tixtenk'aheb li cuech aj pâbanelil.
15What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
15¿C'a'ru tinbânu chi jo'canan? Tintijok riq'uin lin musik' chi inc'a' tintau ru li tinye ut tento ajcui' nak tintijok riq'uin lin c'a'ux re nak tâtaumânk ru li c'a'ru tinye. Ut tinbichânk riq'uin lin musik' chi inc'a' tintau ru li tinye ut tinbichânk ajcui' riq'uin lin c'a'ux re nak tâtaumânk ru li c'a'ru tinye.
16Otherwise if you bless with the spirit, how will he who fills the place of the unlearned say the “Amen” at your giving of thanks, seeing he doesn’t know what you say?
16Cuan li inc'a' neque'xtau ru lix yâlal chirix li jalanil âtin. Cui yôcat chixlok'oninquil li Dios ca'aj cui' riq'uin lâ musik', eb a'an inc'a' te'xtau ru li tâye xban nak yôcat chi âtinac sa' jalanil âtin. ¿Chan put ru nak te'xye "jo'can taxak" cui inc'a' neque'xtau ru li yôcat chixyebal?
17For you most certainly give thanks well, but the other person is not built up.
17Yâl nak yôcat chixlok'oninquil li Dios, abanan li jun chic inc'a' tâtenk'âk xban lâ tij xban nak inc'a' naxtau ru li c'a'ru yôcat chixyebal.
18I thank my God, I speak with other languages more than you all.
18Ninbantioxi chiru li Dios nak nabal sut ninâtinac sa' jalanil âtin. Lâex inc'a' quex-âtinac nabal sut sa' jalanil âtin jo' lâin.
19However in the assembly I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might instruct others also, than ten thousand words in another language.
19Aban lâin ninye nak sa' xyânkeb laj pâbanel k'axal us raj nak tinye cuib oxibak chi âtin li te'xtau ru re nak tebintzol chi tz'akal chiru nak tinye lajêbak mil chi âtin sa' jalanil âtin ut inc'a' te'xtau ru li tinye.
20Brothers, don’t be children in thoughts, yet in malice be babies, but in thoughts be mature.
20Ex inhermân, chanchanakex li c'ula'al xban nak eb li c'ula'al inc'a' neque'xbânu li mâusilal. Abanan mexc'oxlac jo' neque'c'oxlac li coc'al. Tz'akalak ban re ru lê c'a'ux xban nak moco coc'alex ta chic.
21In the law it is written, “By men of strange languages and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people. Not even thus will they hear me, says the Lord.”
21Jo'ca'in tz'îbanbil sa' li Santil Hu li quixye li Dios najter chirixeb laj Israel: Eb lin tenamit inc'a' neque'raj rabinquil li cuâtin. Jo'can nak sa' jalan âtinobâl tincuâtinaheb. Tintakla jalan xtenamit chixyebal li cuâtin reheb. Abanan chi moco chi jo'can tine'rabi, chan li Kâcua'. (Isa. 28:11-12)
22Therefore other languages are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to the unbelieving; but prophesying is for a sign, not to the unbelieving, but to those who believe.
22Riq'uin a âtin a'in nakanau nak li mâtan re âtinac sa' jalan âtinobâl, a'an q'uebil jo' retalil lix cuanquilal li Dios chiruheb li mâcua'eb aj pâbanel. Ut li mâtan re xyebal li c'a'ru naxc'utbesi li Dios, a'an q'uebil re xtenk'anquileb laj pâbanel.
23If therefore the whole assembly is assembled together and all speak with other languages, and unlearned or unbelieving people come in, won’t they say that you are crazy?
23Nak eb laj pâbanel te'xch'utub ribeb ut cui chixjunileb te'oc chi âtinac sa' jalan âtin inc'a' natauman ru, cui te'oc aran li mâcua'eb aj pâbanel malaj te'oc aran li inc'a' neque'xtau ru li na'leb a'in, te'xye nak lôqueb ru.
24But if all prophesy, and someone unbelieving or unlearned comes in, he is reproved by all, and he is judged by all.
24Abanan cui eb laj pâbanel te'xch'olob xyâlal li c'a'ru quiyehe' reheb xban li Dios, nak tox-oc sa' xyânkeb junak mâcua' aj pâbanel malaj li toj mâji' naxtau ru lix yâlal a'an, li jun a'an tixq'ue retal nak a'an aj mâc ut tixq'ue ajcui' retal li c'a'ru yô chirabinquil.
25And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed. So he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed.
25Li Dios tixc'ut chiru chi tz'akal c'a'ru cuan sa' xch'ôl. Ut li jun a'an tixcuik'ib rib ut tixlok'oni li Dios ut tixye nak relic chi yâl li Dios cuan sa' xyânkeb laj pâbanel.
26What is it then, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has another language, has an interpretation. Let all things be done to build each other up.
26Ex hermân, a'an a'in li nacuaj xyebal êre. Nak têch'utub êrib chixlok'oninquil li Dios, jalan jalânk têbânu chêjûnkalex. Cuan tixc'am chak junak bich; cuan li tâq'uehok na'leb; cuan li tâyehok re li quic'ute' chiru xban li Dios; cuan li tâyehok junak na'leb riq'uin jalanil âtin ut cuan ajcui' li tâjalok ru li tâyemânk sa' li jalanil âtin. Abanan chixjunil li têbânu, chebânuhak re xtenk'anquileb laj pâbanel chi q'uîc sa' lix pâbâleb.
27If any man speaks in another language, let it be two, or at the most three, and in turn; and let one interpret.
27Cui cuanqueb li te'raj âtinac sa' jalanil âtin, naru neque'âtinac cuibak malaj oxibak ut chixjûnkaleb te'âtinak. Ut cuânk ajcui' junak chic li tâjalok ru li te'xye.
28But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the assembly, and let him speak to himself, and to God.
28Abanan cui mâ ani naru tâjalok ru li jalanil âtin, inc'a' te'âtinak sa' jalanil âtin sa' li ch'utubaj ib. Yal sa' xch'ôleb ban te'âtinak chiru li Dios.
29Let the prophets speak, two or three, and let the others discern.
29Cheq'ueheb chi âtinac cuibak malaj oxibak li profeta li neque'yehoc resil li c'a'ru quic'ute' chiruheb xban li Dios, ut li jun ch'ol chic te'tz'ilok âtin chirix re xnaubal ma riq'uin na li Dios xchal chak li xe'xye.
30But if a revelation is made to another sitting by, let the first keep silent.
30Ut cui cuan c'a'ru tâc'utek' xban li Dios chiru li ani c'ojc'o aran sa' li ch'utubaj ib, li jun a'an tixtz'âma chiru li yô chi âtinac nak tixye li c'a'ru xc'ute' chiru xban li Dios. Ut li ani yô chi âtinac chixq'uehak xna'aj re tââtinak.
31For you all can prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be exhorted.
31Chêjunjûnkalex târûk têye li c'a'ru xc'ute' chêru xban li Dios re nak chixjunileb laj pâbanel te'xtzol rib ut tâcacuûk xch'ôleb sa' lix pâbâleb.
32The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets,
32Cui yâl nak li Dios xc'utuc chêru li c'a'ru têye, li Dios textenk'a chiroybeninquil jok'e tex-oc chi âtinac re nak chi jo'can chêjunjûnkalex tex-âtinak.
33for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. As in all the assemblies of the saints,
33Li Dios inc'a' naraj nak tâcuânk li po'oj ib sa' xyânkeb laj pâbanel. Naraj ban nak cuânk li tuktûquil usilal sa' xyânkeb.
34let your wives keep silent in the assemblies, for it has not been permitted for them to speak; but let them be in subjection, as the law also says.
34Eb li ixk inc'a' te'âtinak sa' li ch'utubaj ib re xlok'oninquil li Dios. Te'xpâb a'in xban nak jo'can tz'îbanbil sa' lix chak'rabeb laj judío. Jo'ca'in na-uxman sa' xyânkeb chixjunileb laj pâbanel yalak bar.
35If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is shameful for a woman to chatter in the assembly.
35Cui cuan c'a' re ru te'raj xnaubal che'xpatz'ak reheb lix bêlom nak te'cuulak sa' rochocheb ut a'an tixch'olob xyâlal. Xutânal chok' reheb cui tââtinak junak ixk sa' xyânkeb nak ch'utch'ûqueb chixlok'oninquil li Dios.
36What? Was it from you that the word of God went out? Or did it come to you alone?
36Chijulticok' êre nak mâcua'ex lâex quextiquiban chak re li râtin li Dios. Ac cuan ajcui' chalen chak junxil. Ut moco ca'aj cui' ta lâex quex-abin re.
37If any man thinks himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him recognize the things which I write to you, that they are the commandment of the Lord.
37Mâre cuan sa' êyânk li naxc'oxla nak a'an profeta malaj naxc'oxla nak cuan jun chic xmâtan q'uebil re xban li Santil Musik'ej. Cui jo'can naxc'oxla, chixnauhak nak li yôquin chixtz'îbanquil sa' li hu a'in, a'an ajcui' li chak'rab q'uebil cue xban li Dios.
38But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
38Ut cui cuan junak inc'a' naxpâb li yôquin chixtz'îbanquil, lâex inc'a' ajcui' têpâb li c'a'ru tixye a'an.
39Therefore, brothers, desire earnestly to prophesy, and don’t forbid speaking with other languages.
39Jo'can ut ex inhermân, cheq'uehak êch'ôl chixch'olobanquil xyâlal li c'a'ru quic'ute' chêru xban li Dios ut mêram chiru li ani naraj âtinac sa' jalanil âtin.Abanan li c'a'ru têbânu nak têch'utub êrib, chebânuhak chixjunil chi tz'akal re ru ut sa' xyâlal.
40Let all things be done decently and in order.
40Abanan li c'a'ru têbânu nak têch'utub êrib, chebânuhak chixjunil chi tz'akal re ru ut sa' xyâlal.
