1In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.
1Yô cuakxaklaju chihab roquic chokß xreyeb laj Israel laj Jeroboam nak laj Abías qui-oc chokß rey aran Judá.
2He reigned three years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
2Oxib chihab quicuan saß xcuanquil aran Jerusalén. Lix naß laj Abías, aßan lix Micaías lix rabin laj Uriel, Gabaón xtenamit. Laj Abías ut laj Jeroboam queßpletic chi ribileb rib.
3Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valor.
3Laj Abías cuan câhib ciento mil li soldados sicßbileb ru ut cauheb rib. Joßcan ajcuiß laj Jeroboam quixsiqßueb ru cuakxakib ciento mil chi soldado ut cauheb rib.
4Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, “Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:
4Laj Abías quixakli saß xbên li tzûl Zemaraim li cuan saß lix naßajeb li ralal xcßajol laj Efraín, li tzûl ru. Ut quixye reheb, —Chinâcuabi, at Jeroboam, joß ajcuiß lâex aj Israel.
5Ought you not to know that Yahweh, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
5¿Ma incßaß nequenau lâex nak li Kâcuaß li kaDios lâo aj Israel quixqßue li cuanquil aßin re laj David? Quixye nak aßan ut eb li ralal teßtaklânk saß xbêneb laj Israel chi junelic. Li Dios quixbânu li contrato riqßuineb riqßuin atzßam.
6Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.
6Abanan laj Jeroboam li ralal laj Nabat, li quicßanjelac chiru laj Salomón li ralal laj David, quijoskßoß saß xbên lix rey.
7There were gathered to him worthless men, base fellows, who strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
7Ut queßxchßutub ribeb nabaleb li cuînk li incßaß useb xnaßleb riqßuin laj Jeroboam. Ut eb aßan queßxkßetkßeti ribeb chiru laj Roboam xban nak laj Roboam toj sâj ut toj mâjiß cau xchßôl chi taklânc. Joßcan nak incßaß quiru xcolbal rib chiruheb.
8“Now you think to withstand the kingdom of Yahweh in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.
8Ut anakcuan lâex têraj pletic riqßuineb li ralal xcßajol laj David li sicßbileb ru xban li Dios re texcuânk saß li cuanquilal. Lâex nabalex ut cuan chak êriqßuin li cuacax oro li quixyîb chokß êdios laj Jeroboam.
9Haven’t you driven out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves after the ways of the peoples of other lands? so that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, the same may be a priest of those who are no gods.
9¿Ma incßaß ta biß xerisiheb chak laj tij li ralal xcßajoleb laj Aarón ut eb laj levitas li nequeßcßanjelac chiru li Dios? ¿Ma incßaß ta biß xexakabeb jalaneb laj tij chi cßanjelac chiruheb lê dios joß nequeßxbânu li jalan tenamit? Chêru lâex yalak ani naru tâxakabâk chokß aj tij cui tixcßam junak toro toj sâj malaj ut cuukubak xcarner re nak tixkßaxtesi rib chokß aj tij chiruheb li mâcuaßeb tzßakal Dios.
10“But as for us, Yahweh is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and we have priests ministering to Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work:
10Abanan, li kaDios lâo, aßan li Kâcuaß. Incßaß yôco chixtzßektânanquil. Eb laj tij li yôqueb chi cßanjelac chiru li Kâcuaß, aßaneb li ralal xcßajol laj Aarón ut eb li nequeßtenkßan reheb, aßaneb laj levitas.
11and they burn to Yahweh every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense. They also set the show bread in order on the pure table; and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening: for we keep the instruction of Yahweh our God; but you have forsaken him.
11Rajlal ekßela ut rajlal ecuu nequeßxqßue li cßatbil mayej chiru li Kâcuaß joß ajcuiß li incienso li sunûnc. Ut nequeßxqßue li caxlan cua chiru li mêx li kßaxtesinbil re li Dios. Ut nalochman rajlal ecuu li candil li cuan saß xbêneb li candelero li yîbanbil riqßuin oro. Lâo yôco chixbânunquil joß taklanbilo cuiß xban li Kâcuaß li kaDios. Abanan lâex xetzßektâna li Kâcuaß Dios.
12Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. Children of Israel, don’t fight against Yahweh, the God of your fathers; for you shall not prosper.”
12Cheqßuehak retal. Li Dios cuan kiqßuin. Aßan yô chi cßamoc kabe. Ut eb laj tij oqueb re chixyâbasinquil lix trompêteb re takatiquib pletic êriqßuin. Joßcan ut, ex ralal xcßajol laj Israel, mexpletic riqßuin li Kâcuaß lix Dioseb lê xeßtônil yucuaß xban nak incßaß texnumtâk saß kabên, chan laj Abías.
13But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them.
13Abanan laj Jeroboam ac xtaklaheb lix soldado chirix li naßajej li cuanqueb cuiß eb laj Judá. Cuanqueb li soldados yôqueb chi châlc chiruheb ut cuanqueb li soldado li yôqueb chi châlc chirixeb.
14When Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried to Yahweh, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
14Nak queßiloc chirixeb laj Judá queßril nak yôqueb chi châlc chirixeb ut yôqueb chi châlc chiruheb re teßpletik riqßuineb. Ut queßxyâba xcßabaß li Kâcuaß ut eb laj tij queßxyâbasi lix trompêteb.
15Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it happened, that God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
15Eb laj Judá queßxjap reheb chi cau ut queßoc chi pletic. Ut li Dios quixkßaxtesiheb laj Jeroboam ut eb laj Israel saß rukßeb li rey Abías ut eb laj Judá.
16The children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand.
16Eb laj Israel queßoc chi êlelic, abanan li Kâcuaß ac xkßaxtesiheb saß rukßeb laj Judá.
17Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
17Eb laj Judá queßnumta saß xbêneb laj Israel ut queßxcamsiheb ôb ciento mil li soldado li sicßbileb ru.
18Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
18Joßcaßin nak quicubsîc xcuanquileb laj Israel saß eb li cutan aßan. Eb laj Judá queßrêchani li plêt xban nak queßxtzßâma xtenkßanquileb riqßuin li Kâcuaß, lix Dioseb lix xeßtônil yucuaßeb.
19Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with its towns, and Jeshanah with its towns, and Ephron with its towns.
19Ut laj Abías quinumta saß xbên laj Jeroboam ut quirêchaniheb li tenamit Bet-el rochbeneb li cßalebâl, Jesana rochbeneb li cßalebâl, ut Efraín rochbeneb li cßalebâl.
20Jeroboam didn’t recover strength again in the days of Abijah. Yahweh struck him, and he died.
20Laj Jeroboam incßaß chic quicuan xcuanquil saß eb li cutan nak laj Abías quicuan chokß xreyeb laj Judá. Ut li Kâcuaß quiqßuehoc re chi câmc.
21But Abijah grew mighty, and took to himself fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.
21Laj Abías quiniman xcuanquil. Quixcßam chokß rixakil câlaju li ixk ut queßcuan cuib xcaßcßâl li ralal ut cuaklaju lix rabin.Chixjunil li quilajxbânu ut li cßaßru quixye nak cuan saß xcuanquil tzßîbanbil retalil saß li hu li quixtzßîba li profeta Iddo.
22The rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
22Chixjunil li quilajxbânu ut li cßaßru quixye nak cuan saß xcuanquil tzßîbanbil retalil saß li hu li quixtzßîba li profeta Iddo.
