1For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,
1Laj Melquisedec a'an li rey re li tenamit Salem. A'an ajcui' laj tij chiru li nimajcual Dios. Laj Melquisedec qui-el chak chixc'ulbal laj Abraham ut quirosobtesi nak quisuk'i chak chixsachbal ruheb li rey.
2to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace;
2Ut li jo' q'uial quirêchani chak laj Abraham sa' li plêt riq'uineb li rey, quixq'ue li junjûnk sa' xlajêtkil re laj Melquisedec. Li c'aba'ej Melquisedec naraj naxye "rey re li tîquilal". Ut li c'aba'ej Salem naraj naxye "tuktûquil usilal". Jo'can nak laj Melquisedec, a'an rey re li tîquilal ut rey re li tuktûquil usilal.
3without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.
3Inc'a' nanauman ani lix yucua' laj Melquisedec chi moco lix na' chi moco lix xe'tônil yucua'. Inc'a' nanauman chirix lix yo'lajic chi moco lix camic. Laj Melquisedec, a'an retalil li Jesucristo ut a'an laj tij chi junelic.
4Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the best spoils.
4Q'uehomak retal nak laj Melquisedec, k'axal nim xcuanquil chiru laj Abraham. Laj Abraham, a'an xyucua'eb laj Israel, abanan quixq'ue re laj Melquisedec li junjûnk sa' xlajêtkil li quirêchani chak sa' li plêt.
5They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham,
5Tz'îbanbil sa' li chak'rab li quiq'uehe' re laj Moisés nak eb li cristian te'xq'ue reheb laj tij li junjûnk sa' xlajêtkil li c'a'ru cuan reheb. Eb laj tij, a'an eb li ralal xc'ajol laj Leví. Que'xbânu chi jo'can usta laj Abraham, a'an lix xe'tônil yucua' chixjunileb, laj tij jo'queb ajcui' li cristian.
6but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.
6Laj Melquisedec mâcua' xcomoneb li ralal xc'ajol laj Leví aban laj Abraham quixq'ue li junjûnk sa' xlajêtkil re laj Melquisedec. Nim xcuanquil laj Abraham xban nak ac yechi'inbil re li rosobtesinquil xban li Dios. Aban laj Melquisedec k'axal nim cui'chic lix cuanquil. Jo'can nak quirosobtesi laj Abraham.
7But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.
7Nakanau chi tz'akal nak li na-osobtesin, a'an li nim xcuanquil chiru li na-osobtesîc. Jo'can nak nakanau nak nim xlok'al laj Melquisedec chiru xlok'al laj Abraham.
8Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives.
8Eb laj tij aj Israel que'xc'ul ajcui' li junjûnk sa' xlajêtkil. A'aneb yal cuînkeb ut que'cam. Abanan laj Melquisedec moco quicam ta. Jo'can tz'îbanbil sa' li Santil Hu.
9We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes,
9Eb li ralal xc'ajol laj Leví, a'an eb laj tij. Eb a'an li que'c'uluc re li junjûnk sa' xlajêtkil li que'xq'ue laj Israel. Laj Abraham a'an lix xe'tônil yucua' laj Leví. Jo'can nak naru xyebal nak eb li ralal xc'ajol laj Leví que'xq'ue li junjûnk sa' xlajêtkil re laj Melquisedec xban nak laj Abraham quixq'ue li junjûnk sa' xlajêtkil sa' xc'aba'eb a'an.
10for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.
10Naru xyebal chi jo'can usta toj mâji' neque'yo'la li ralal xc'ajol laj Leví xban nak laj Abraham, a'an lix xe'tônil yucua'eb. Riq'uin a'an nakanau nak laj Melquisedec nim xcuanquil chiruheb li ralal xc'ajol laj Leví.
11Now if there were perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people have received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
11Li ralal xc'ajol laj Leví ut laj Aarón, a'aneb li neque'ch'oloban chiruheb laj Israel lix yâlal lix chak'rab li Dios li quixye laj Moisés. Abanan chi moco li chak'rab chi moco eb laj tij li târûk tâcolok ke. Cui ta eb laj tij ut li chak'rab, inc'a' raj chic quitaklâc chak junak aj tij k'axal nim xcuanquil jo' nak quicuan laj Melquisedec. Laj tij li quitaklâc chak mâcua' xcomoneb laj Aarón.
12For the priesthood being changed, there is of necessity a change made also in the law.
12Laj tij li quitaklâc chak jalan chic lix c'anjel. Jo'can nak quijala ajcui' ru li chak'rab.
13For he of whom these things are said belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.
13Li âtin a'in tz'îbanbil chirix li Jesucristo. A'an mâcua' ralal xc'ajol laj Leví. A'an ralal xc'ajol laj Judá. Mâ jun ralal xc'ajol laj Judá xakabanbil chok' aj tij chi mayejac.
14For it is evident that our Lord has sprung out of Judah, about which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
15This is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there arises another priest,
15Riq'uin a'in nanauman nak li Jesucristo nim xcuanquil chiruheb laj tij li que'cuan sa' xyânkeb aj Israel. Li Jesucristo, a'an aj tij jo' nak quicuan laj Melquisedec ut a'an mâcua' ralal xc'ajol laj Leví.
16who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:
16Li Jesucristo inc'a' quixakabâc chok' aj tij jo' quixye li chak'rab. Xakabanbil ban chok' aj tij xban nak nim xcuanquil ut yo'yo chi junelic.
17for it is testified, “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.” Psalm 110:4
17Jo'ca'in tz'îbanbil sa' li Santil Hu chirix li Kâcua' Jesucristo: Lâat aj tij chi junelic jo' nak quicuan laj Melquisedec. (Sal. 110:4)
18For there is an annulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and uselessness
18Jo'can nak li chak'rab li quicuan junxil mâc'a' chic rajbal xban nak mâc'a' chic xcuanquil.
19(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.
19Mâ ani nacole' xban li chak'rab li quicuan chak junxil. Abanan cuan kayo'on anakcuan k'axal nim xcuanquil chiru li chak'rab. Li kayo'on, a'an li Jesucristo. Ut xban a'an cuânko chi sum âtin riq'uin li Dios.
20Inasmuch as he was not made priest without the taking of an oath
20Li Jesucristo xakabanbil chok' aj tij xban li Dios riq'uin juramento.
21(for they indeed have been made priests without an oath), but he with an oath by him that says of him, “The Lord swore and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.’” Psalm 110:4
21Abanan mâcua' riq'uin juramento nak que'xakabâc chok' aj tij li ralal xc'ajol laj Leví. A'ut li Kâcua' Jesucristo xakabanbil chok' aj tij xban li Dios riq'uin juramento. Tz'îbanbil sa' li Santil Hu chi jo'ca'in: Li Dios quiâtinac riq'uin li Ralal ut quixye re: Sa' inc'aba' lâin tinye âcue: Lâat laj tij chi junelic jo' nak quicuan laj Melquisedec, chan. Li Dios inc'a' tixjal lix c'a'ux xban nak quixpatz' lix lok'laj c'aba'. (Sal. 110:4)
22By so much, Jesus has become the collateral of a better covenant.
22Riq'uin li juramento a'in, sa' xc'aba' li Jesucristo, nim xcuanquil li ac' contrato, ut k'axal lok' chiru li quicuan junxil.
23Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.
23Najter nabaleb laj tij que'cuan chak. Inc'a' que'cana sa' xc'anjel chi junelic li junjûnk xban nak neque'cam ut jalan chic nacana chok' rêkaj.
24But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.
24Aban li Kâcua' Jesucristo a'an chic li tz'akal laj tij. Mâ jaruj chic tâsic'mânk junak rêkaj xban nak a'an yo'yo chi junelic.
25Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.
25Li Jesucristo a'an tz'akal tâcolok reheb chixjunileb li neque'pâban re li Dios sa' xc'aba' a'an. Li Jesucristo yo'yo chi junelic ut naâtinac chirixeb chiru li Dios.
26For such a high priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
26Li Kâcua' Jesucristo, a'an li tz'akal xyucua'il aj tij. Ut a'an li natenk'an ke chi tz'akal. Moco juntak'êt ta lix yu'am riq'uineb laj mâc. Li Jesucristo santo ut mâc'a' xmâc. A'an cô sa' choxa ut aran quiq'uehe' xnimal xlok'al.
27who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.
27Li Jesucristo mâcua' jo'queb lix yucua'ileb aj tij li que'cuan sa' xyânkeb laj Israel. Eb a'an cuulaj cuulaj neque'xmayeja li xul re xtojbal rix lix mâqueb jo' ajcui' lix mâqueb li tenamit. Aban li Jesucristo jun sut ajcui' quixmayeja rib re xtojbal rix li kamâc.Jo' tz'îbanbil sa' li chak'rab najter, eb li xakabanbil chok' xyucua'il aj tij, a'an yal cuînkeb. Abanan mokon, nak quisache' xcuanquil li chak'rab, li Dios quixxakab riq'uin juramento li Ralal chok' xyucua'il aj tij. Riq'uin ut a'an li Jesucristo tz'akal re ru chi c'anjelac chi junelic.
28For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the law appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.
28Jo' tz'îbanbil sa' li chak'rab najter, eb li xakabanbil chok' xyucua'il aj tij, a'an yal cuînkeb. Abanan mokon, nak quisache' xcuanquil li chak'rab, li Dios quixxakab riq'uin juramento li Ralal chok' xyucua'il aj tij. Riq'uin ut a'an li Jesucristo tz'akal re ru chi c'anjelac chi junelic.
