¹Then Jonah prayed to Yahweh, his God, out of the fish’s belly.

¹Tada Jona iš žuvies pilvo meldėsi Viešpačiui, savo Dievui:

²He said, “I called because of my affliction to Yahweh. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. I cried. You heard my voice.

²“Aš šaukiausi Viešpaties savo varguose, ir Jis išklausė mane. Kai iš mirusiųjų buveinės pilvo šaukiau, Tu išgirdai mano balsą.

³For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.

³Tu įmetei mane į gelmę, į jūrų širdį. Vandenys apsupo mane, visos Tavo bangos ir vilnys ritosi per mane.

⁴I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’

⁴Tada galvojau: ‘Esu atstumtas nuo Tavęs, nebepamatysiu Tavo šventyklos!’

⁵The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.

⁵Vandenys apsupo mane ir grėsė mano gyvybei, gelmės apgaubė mane, jūros žolės vyniojosi apie mano galvą.

⁶I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever: yet have you brought up my life from the pit, Yahweh my God.

⁶Aš nugrimzdau į jūros gelmes, žemė uždarė mane savo skląsčiais. Bet Tu, Viešpatie, mano Dieve, išvedei mane gyvą iš gelmės.

⁷“When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Yahweh. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.

⁷Mano sielai alpstant, prisiminiau Viešpatį ir mano malda pasiekė Tave Tavo šventykloje.

⁸Apgaulingų tuštybių garbintojai apleidžia savo Gailestingąjį.

⁹But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.”

⁹Bet aš, garsiai dėkodamas, atnešiu Tau auką; ką pažadėjau­ištesėsiu. Išgelbėjimas ateina iš Viešpaties!”

¹⁰Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.

¹⁰Viešpats įsakė, ir žuvis išspjovė Joną ant kranto.
