1Praise Yah! Psalm 112 is an acrostic poem, with each verse after the initial “Praise Yah!” starting with a letter of the alphabet (ordered from Alef to Tav). Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh, who delights greatly in his commandments.
1¶ Whakamoemititia a Ihowa. Ka hari te tangata e wehi ana i a Ihowa, e aro nui ana ki ana whakahau.
2His seed will be mighty in the land. The generation of the upright will be blessed.
2Ka nui ona uri ki runga ki te whenua; ka manaakitia te whakatupuranga o te hunga tika.
3Wealth and riches are in his house. His righteousness endures forever.
3Kei tona whare te rawa, te taonga: ka pumau tonu tona tika, ake ake.
4Light dawns in the darkness for the upright, gracious, merciful, and righteous.
4Ka maea ake te marama i roto i te pouri ki te hunga tika: he atawhai ia, he aroha, he tika.
5It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment.
5He pono ka whiwhi painga te tangata he atawhai, he ohaoha tana mahi: ka u ana kupu i te whakawakanga.
6For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever.
6¶ E kore hoki ia e whakangaueuetia ake ake: ka maharatia tonutia te tangata tika ake ake.
7He will not be afraid of evil news. His heart is steadfast, trusting in Yahweh.
7E kore ia e mataku i te rongo kino: e u ana tona ngakau, e whakawhirinaki ana ki a Ihowa.
8His heart is established. He will not be afraid in the end when he sees his adversaries.
8Ka u tona ngakau, e kore ia e wehi, kia kite ra ano ia i tana i hiahia ai ki ona hoariri.
9He has dispersed, he has given to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted with honor.
9Kua tuwhaina e ia, kua hoatu ki te hunga rawakore: pumau tonu tona tika ake ake; ka ara tona haona i runga i te kororia.
10The wicked will see it, and be grieved. He shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away. The desire of the wicked will perish.
10Ka kite te tangata kino, a ka pouri; ka pakiri ona niho, memeha iho: pirau iho te hiahia o te hunga kino.
