¹The word of Yahweh came also to me, saying,

¹Og Herrens ord kom til mig, og det lød så:

²You shall not take a wife, neither shall you have sons or daughters, in this place.

²Du skal ikke ta dig en hustru, og du skal ikke ha sønner og døtre på dette sted.

³For thus says Yahweh concerning the sons and concerning the daughters who are born in this place, and concerning their mothers who bore them, and concerning their fathers who became their father in this land:

³For så sier Herren om de sønner og døtre som fødes på dette sted, og om deres mødre som føder dem, og om deres fedre som avler dem i dette land:

⁴They shall die grievous deaths: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried; they shall be as dung on the surface of the ground; and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the sky, and for the animals of the earth.

⁴En smertefull død skal de dø, ingen skal gråte over dem, og ingen begrave dem; til gjødsel på marken skal de bli, og ved sverd og hungersnød skal de omkomme, og deres lik skal bli til føde for himmelens fugler og for jordens dyr.

⁵For thus says Yahweh, Don’t enter into the house of mourning, neither go to lament, neither bemoan them; for I have taken away my peace from this people, says Yahweh, even loving kindness and tender mercies.

⁵For så sier Herren: Gå ikke inn i sørgehus, og gå ikke avsted for å holde klage over en død, og vis dem ikke medynk! For jeg har tatt min fred bort fra dette folk, sier Herren, min miskunnhet og barmhjertighet.

⁶Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them;

⁶Og de skal dø, både store og små, i dette land; de skal ikke begraves, og ingen skal holde klage over dem eller skjære i sitt kjøtt eller rake håret av for deres skyld.

⁷neither shall men break bread for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.

⁷Og ingen skal bryte brød til dem for å trøste dem i sorgen over en avdød, og ingen skal gi nogen trøstens beger å drikke når han har mistet far eller mor.

⁸You shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and to drink.

⁸Og i gjestebudshus skal du heller ikke gå inn for å sitte hos dem og ete og drikke.

⁹For thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.

⁹For så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, Israels Gud: Se, for eders øine og i eders dager lar jeg fryds røst og gledes røst, brudgoms røst og bruds røst bli borte på dette sted.

¹⁰It shall happen, when you shall show this people all these words, and they shall tell you, Why has Yahweh pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against Yahweh our God?

¹⁰Når du da forkynner dette folk alle disse ord, og de sier til dig: Hvorfor har Herren varslet all denne store ulykke over oss, hvad er vår misgjerning, hvad er vår synd som vi har gjort mot Herren vår Gud?

¹¹Then you shall tell them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, says Yahweh, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshiped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;

¹¹da skal du si til dem: Fordi eders fedre forlot mig, sier Herren, og fulgte andre guder og dyrket dem og tilbad dem, men forlot mig og ikke holdt min lov,

¹²and you have done evil more than your fathers; for, behold, you walk every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that you don’t listen to me:

¹²og I har gjort verre synd enn eders fedre, I som alle følger eders onde, hårde hjerte uten å høre på mig,

¹³therefore will I cast you forth out of this land into the land that you have not known, neither you nor your fathers; and there you shall serve other gods day and night; for I will show you no favor.

¹³derfor vil jeg kaste eder ut av dette land, bort til et land I ikke har kjent, hverken I eller eders fedre, og der skal I dyrke andre guder dag og natt, fordi jeg ikke vil gi eder nåde.

¹⁴Therefore behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that it shall no more be said, As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

¹⁴Se, derfor skal dager komme, sier Herren, da det ikke mere skal sies: Så sant Herren lever, han som førte Israels barn op fra Egyptens land,

¹⁵but, As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the countries where he had driven them. I will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers.

¹⁵men: Så sant Herren lever, som førte Israels barn op fra landet i nord og fra alle de land som han hadde drevet dem bort til. Og jeg vil føre dem tilbake til deres land, det som jeg gav deres fedre.

¹⁶Behold, I will send for many fishermen, says Yahweh, and they shall fish them up; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks.

¹⁶Se, jeg sender bud efter mange fiskere, sier Herren, og de skal fiske dem, og derefter sender jeg bud efter mange jegere, og de skal jage dem bort fra hvert fjell og fra hver haug og fra bergkløftene.

¹⁷For my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from my face, neither is their iniquity concealed from my eyes.

¹⁷For mine øine er rettet på alle deres veier; de er ikke skjult for mitt åsyn, og deres misgjerning er ikke dulgt for mine øine.

¹⁸First I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable things, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations.

¹⁸Først vil jeg da gjengjelde deres misgjerning og deres synd dobbelt, fordi de vanhelliget mitt land med sine vederstyggelige avguders døde kropper og fylte min arvedel med sine avskyeligheter.

¹⁹Yahweh, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, vanity and things in which there is no profit.

¹⁹Herre, min styrke og mitt sterke vern og min tilflukt på nødens dag! Til dig skal hedningefolk komme fra jordens ender og si: Bare løgn fikk våre fedre i arv, falske guder, og det var ingen iblandt dem som kunde hjelpe.

²⁰Shall a man make to himself gods, which yet are no gods?

²⁰Skal et menneske gjøre sig guder? De er jo ikke guder.

²¹Therefore behold, I will cause them to know, this once will I cause them to know my hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is Yahweh.

²¹Se, derfor lar jeg dem denne gang kjenne, ja, jeg lar dem kjenne min hånd og min styrke, og de skal vite at mitt navn er Herren.
