¹The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

¹Dette er det ord som kom til Jeremias fra Herren:

²Thus speaks Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying, Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book.

²Så sier Herren, Israels Gud: Skriv alle de ord jeg har talt til dig, i en bok!

³For, behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will turn again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, says Yahweh; and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.

³For se, dager kommer, sier Herren, da jeg gjør ende på mitt folks, Israels og Judas, fangenskap, sier Herren, og fører dem tilbake til det land jeg gav deres fedre, så de kan ta det i eie.

⁴These are the words that Yahweh spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah.

⁴Og dette er de ord Herren har talt om Israel og Juda:

⁵For thus says Yahweh: We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.

⁵Så sier Herren: Et redselsrop har vi hørt; der er frykt og ingen fred.

⁶Ask now, and see whether a man does travail with child: why do I see every man with his hands on his waist, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?

⁶Spør og se efter om en mann føder! Hvorfor ser jeg hver mann med hendene på sine lender, lik en fødende kvinne, og hvorfor er alle åsyn forandret og blitt bleke?

⁷Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

⁷Ve! Stor er den dag, det er ingen som den, og en trengselstid er det for Jakob; men han skal bli frelst fra den.

⁸It shall come to pass in that day, says Yahweh of Armies, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds; and strangers shall no more make him their bondservant;

⁸Og det skal skje på den dag, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, da vil jeg bryte hans* åk og ta det av din nakke, og dine bånd vil jeg rive i stykker, og fremmede skal ikke mere holde dig i trældom. / {* fiendens.}

⁹but they shall serve Yahweh their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them.

⁹Og de skal tjene Herren sin Gud og David sin konge, som jeg vil opreise for dem.

¹⁰Therefore don’t you be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says Yahweh; neither be dismayed, Israel: for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.

¹⁰Frykt ikke, du min tjener Jakob, sier Herren, og reddes ikke, Israel! For se, jeg frelser dig fra det fjerne land og din ætt fra deres fangenskaps land, og Jakob skal vende tilbake og leve i ro og være trygg, og ingen skal forferde ham.

¹¹For I am with you, says Yahweh, to save you: for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have scattered you, but I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished.

¹¹For jeg er med dig, sier Herren, og jeg vil frelse dig; jeg vil gjøre ende på alle de folk som jeg har adspredt dig iblandt; bare dig vil jeg ikke gjøre ende på; jeg vil tukte dig med måte; men helt ustraffet vil jeg ikke la dig være.

¹²For thus says Yahweh, Your hurt is incurable, and your wound grievous.

¹²For så sier Herren: Ubotelig er din skade, ulægelig ditt sår.

¹³There is none to plead your cause, that you may be bound up: you have no healing medicines.

¹³Ingen tar sig av din sak, så han klemmer ditt sår ut; lægedom, plaster finnes ikke for dig.

¹⁴All your lovers have forgotten you; they don’t seek you: for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased.

¹⁴Alle dine elskere har glemt dig, de spør ikke efter dig; for jeg har slått dig som en fiende slår, som den grusomme tukter, fordi din misgjerning er mangfoldig, dine synder tallrike.

¹⁵Why do you cry for your hurt? Your pain is incurable: for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased, I have done these things to you.

¹⁵Hvorfor skriker du over din skade, over at din smerte er ubotelig? Fordi din misgjerning er mangfoldig, dine synder tallrike, har jeg gjort dette mot dig.

¹⁶Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured; and all your adversaries, everyone of them, shall go into captivity; and those who despoil you shall be a spoil, and all who prey on you will I give for a prey.

¹⁶Derfor skal alle de som eter dig, bli ett, og alle de som er dine fiender, dra bort i fangenskap, alle sammen, og de som plyndrer dig, skal bli plyndret, og alle dem som røver dig, vil jeg gjøre til rov.

¹⁷For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh; because they have called you an outcast, saying, It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.

¹⁷For jeg vil legge forbinding på dig og læge dine sår, sier Herren; for de kaller dig den bortdrevne, Sion som ingen spør efter.

¹⁸Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I will turn again the captivity of Jacob’s tents, and have compassion on his dwelling places; and the city shall be built on its own hill, and the palace shall be inhabited in its own way.

¹⁸Så sier Herren: Se, jeg gjør ende på fangenskapet for Jakobs telt og forbarmer mig over hans boliger; byen skal bygges på sin haug, og palasset skal stå på sitt rette sted.

¹⁹Out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

¹⁹Og det skal lyde lovsang fra dem, og rop av glade mennesker; jeg vil gjøre dem tallrike, og de skal ikke bli færre; jeg vil ære dem, og de skal ikke bli aktet ringe.

²⁰Their children also shall be as before, and their congregation shall be established before me; and I will punish all who oppress them.

²⁰Og hans* sønner skal være som i fordums tid, og hans menighet skal stå fast for mitt åsyn, og jeg vil hjemsøke alle dem som undertrykker ham. / {* Jakobs; JER 30, 18.}

²¹Their prince shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from their midst; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach to me: for who is he who has had boldness to approach to me? says Yahweh.

²¹Og hans herlige* skal være av hans egen ætt, og hans hersker** utgå av hans midte, og jeg vil la ham komme nær, og han skal trede frem for mig; for hvem vil ellers våge sitt liv og komme mig nær? sier Herren. / {* Messias; MIK 5, 1.} / {** Messias; MIK 5, 1.}

²²You shall be my people, and I will be your God.

²²Og I skal være mitt folk, og jeg vil være eders Gud.

²³Behold, the storm of Yahweh, his wrath, has gone forth, a sweeping storm: it shall burst on the head of the wicked.

²³Se, Herrens storm, hans vrede farer ut, en rivende stormvind; den hvirvler over hodet på de ugudelige.

²⁴The fierce anger of Yahweh will not return, until he has executed, and until he has performed the intentions of his heart. In the latter days you will understand it.

²⁴Herrens brennende vrede skal ikke vende tilbake før han har utført og fullbyrdet sitt hjertes tanker; i de siste dager skal I forstå det.
