¹The word of Yahweh of Armies came to me.

¹Og Herrens, hærskarenes Guds ord kom, og det lød så:

²Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.”

²Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Jeg er såre nidkjær for Sion, ja, med stor harme er jeg nidkjær for det.

³Thus says Yahweh: “I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called ‘The City of Truth;’ and the mountain of Yahweh of Armies, ‘The Holy Mountain.’”

³Så sier Herren: Jeg vender tilbake til Sion og vil bo i Jerusalem, og Jerusalem skal kalles den trofaste stad, og Herrens, hærskarenes Guds berg det hellige berg.

⁴Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand for very age.

⁴Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Ennu en gang skal gamle menn og kvinner sitte på torvene i Jerusalem, hver med sin stav i hånden for sin høie alders skyld,

⁵The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.”

⁵og torvene i byen skal være fulle av gutter og piker, som leker på torvene der.

⁶Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?” says Yahweh of Armies.

⁶Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Om dette kan være umulig i deres øine som er blitt igjen av dette folk i de dager, mon det da også skulde være umulig i mine øine? sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud.

⁷Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;

⁷Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Se, jeg frelser mitt folk fra de land der solen går op, og fra de land der den går ned,

⁸and I will bring them, and they will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.”

⁸og jeg lar dem komme hit, og de skal bo i Jerusalem, og de skal være mitt folk, og jeg vil være deres Gud i sannhet og rettferdighet.

⁹Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of Yahweh of Armies was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.

⁹Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: La eders hender være sterke, I som i denne tid hører disse ord av de profeters munn som talte på den dag da grunnen blev lagt til Herrens, hærskarenes Guds hus, templet som skulde bygges!

¹⁰For before those days there was no wages for man, nor any wages for an animal; neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor.

¹⁰For før den tid kom det intet ut hverken av menneskers eller dyrs arbeid; og ingen hadde fred for fienden, enten han drog ut eller han drog inn; for jeg slapp alle mennesker løs mot hverandre.

¹¹But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days,” says Yahweh of Armies.

¹¹Men nu vil jeg ikke være som i tidligere dager mot dem som er blitt igjen av dette folk, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud;

¹²“For the seed of peace and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.

¹²nu skal sæden være fredet: Vintreet skal gi sin frukt, jorden skal gi sin grøde, og himmelen skal gi sin dugg, og jeg vil la dem som er blitt igjen av dette folk, få alt dette til eie.

¹³It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don’t be afraid. Let your hands be strong.”

¹³Og det skal skje at likesom I, Judas hus og Israels hus, har vært en forbannelse blandt hedningene, således vil jeg nu frelse eder, og I skal bli en velsignelse; frykt ikke! La eders hender være sterke!

¹⁴For thus says Yahweh of Armies: “As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and I didn’t repent;

¹⁴For så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Likesom jeg satte mig fore å gjøre eder ondt da eders fedre vakte min vrede, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, og jeg ikke angret det,

¹⁵so again have I thought in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Don’t be afraid.

¹⁵således har jeg i disse dager satt mig fore å gjøre vel mot Jerusalem og Judas hus; frykt ikke!

¹⁶These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates,

¹⁶Dette er det I skal gjøre: Tal sannhet med hverandre, døm på tinge rettferdige dommer og dommer som skaper fred,

¹⁷and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate,” says Yahweh.

¹⁷tenk ikke ut ondt mot hverandre i eders hjerte, og elsk ikke falsk ed! For alt dette hater jeg, sier Herren.

¹⁸The word of Yahweh of Armies came to me.

¹⁸Og Herrens, hærskarenes Guds ord kom til mig, og det lød så:

¹⁹Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace.”

¹⁹Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Fasten i den fjerde måned* og i den femte** og i den syvende** og i den tiende*** måned** skal bli Judas hus til fryd og glede og til glade høitider. Men elsk sannhet og fred! / {* da blev Jerusalem inntatt; JER 39, 2; 52, 6. 7.} / {** SKR 7, 5.} / {*** da begynte Jerusalems beleiring; 2KG 25, 1. ESK 24. 1. 2.}

²⁰Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “Many peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come;

²⁰Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Ennu en gang skal det skje at hele folkeslag og mange byers innbyggere skal komme hit.

²¹and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, ‘Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of Yahweh, and to seek Yahweh of Armies. I will go also.’

²¹Og innbyggerne i den ene by skal gå til den andre og si: La oss gå avsted for å bønnfalle Herren og for å søke ham, Herren, hærskarenes Gud! Jeg vil gå, jeg og.

²²Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek Yahweh of Armies in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of Yahweh.”

²²Og mange folkeslag og tallrike hedningefolk skal komme for å søke Herren, hærskarenes Gud, i Jerusalem og for å bønnfalle Herren.

²³Thus says Yahweh of Armies: “In those days, ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, ‘We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”

²³Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: I de dager skal det skje at ti menn av alle hedningefolkenes tungemål skal gripe fatt i en jødisk manns kappefald og si: Vi vil gå med eder; for vi har hørt at Gud er med eder.
