¹ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਬਚਿਓ, ਮ੍ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਖਤ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਾਪ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਪਰ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੌਜੁਦ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਜੋ ਸਹੀ ਹੈ। ਯਿਸੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

²And he is the atoning sacrifice “atoning sacrifice” is from the Greek “hilasmos,” an appeasing, propitiating, or the means of appeasement or propitiation—the sacrifice that turns away God’s wrath because of our sin. for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.

²ਯਿਸੂ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਾਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੈ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸਾਡੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਵੀ।

³This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments.

³ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਪਕ੍ਕੀ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਮੁਚ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

⁴One who says, “I know him,” and doesn’t keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him.

⁴ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ।” ਪਰ ਜੇ ਉਹ ਵਿਾਅਕਤੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਝੂਠਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

⁵But whoever keeps his word, God’s love has most certainly been perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him:

⁵ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿ ਅਕਤੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਮਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਸੱਚ ਮੁੱਚ ਉਸ ਵਿ ਅਕਤੀ ਲਈ ਸੰਪੂਰਾਣ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ।

⁶he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.

⁶ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਇਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਮਿਤ ਰਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਸੀ।

⁷Brothers, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning.

⁷ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਵਾਂ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ। ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਮੁਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਉਹੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੂਣ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹੋਂ।

⁸Again, I write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines.

⁸ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਹੁਕਮ ਇੱਕ ਨਵੇਂ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਾਂਗ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹ ਹੁਕਮ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸਦੀ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਯਿਸੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹਨੇਰਾ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਚਮਕਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

⁹He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now.

⁹ਇੱਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਮੈਂ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ।” ਪਰ ਜੇ ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।

¹⁰He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him.

¹⁰ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਗਲਤ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਾ ਸਕੇਗੀ।

¹¹But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and doesn’t know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

¹¹ਪਰ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ? ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

¹²I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.

¹²ਪਿਆਰੇ ਬਚਿਓ, ਮ੍ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਸੀਹ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਾਪ ਮੁਆਫ਼ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

¹³I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the Father.

¹³ਪਿਤਾਓ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ। ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਲੋਕੋ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ (ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ) ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

¹⁴I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

¹⁴ਬਚਿਓ, ਮ੍ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ। ਪਿਤਓ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਜੋ ਮੁਢ ਤੋਂ ਮੌਜੁਦ ਸੀ। ਹੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਆਦਮੀਓ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਹੋ; ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ (ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ) ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

¹⁵Don’t love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him.

¹⁵ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਚਲੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

¹⁶For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s.

¹⁶ਇਹ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਮੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਪੀ-ਆਪੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਮੰਡ ਕਰਾ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ। ਉਹ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹਨ।

¹⁷The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God’s will remains forever.

¹⁷ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਵੀ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵਿਨਾਸ਼ਮਾਨ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

¹⁸Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the final hour.

¹⁸ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਬਚਿਓ, ਅੰਤ੍ਤ ਨੇਡ਼ੇ ਆ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਸੀਹ ਦਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮਸੀਹ ਦੇ ਇੰਨੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਥ੍ਥੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅੰਤ ਨੇਡ਼ੇ ਹੈ।

¹⁹They went out from us, but they didn’t belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they left, that they might be revealed that none of them belong to us.

¹⁹ਮਸੀਹ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਹ ਸੱਚਮੁਚ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ। ਜੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ। ਪਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੁ ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਗਏ, ਇਹ ਦਰਸ਼ਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਚਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।

²⁰You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. Or, “know what is true.” Or, “know all things.”

²⁰ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਉਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ (ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਜਾਂ ਮਸੀਹ) ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਦਾਤ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਏ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ।

²¹I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.

²¹ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ? ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੱਚ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ? ਨਹੀਂ? ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਖਤ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੱਚ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਝੂਠ ਸੱਚ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

²²Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.

²²ਇਸ ਲਈ ਝੂਠਾ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ? ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਸੀਹ ਦਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ।

²³Whoever denies the Son, the same doesn’t have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.

²³ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਕੋਈ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਿਤਾ ਵੀ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਪਿਤਾ ਵੀ ਉਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

²⁴Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father.

²⁴ਇਸ ਗੱਲੋਂ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਹੋਵੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਸਰਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੁਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਂ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅਮਲ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਰ ਰਹੋਂਗੇ।

²⁵This is the promise which he promised us, the eternal life.

²⁵ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਾ ਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੈ।

²⁶These things I have written to you concerning those who would lead you astray.

²⁶ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਗਲਤ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

²⁷As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him.
