¹For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

¹ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਸਲੇਮ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਮਲਿਕਸਿਦਕ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

²to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace;

²ਅਤੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈਅ ਦਾ ਦਸਵਾਂ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਸਲੇਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਅਰਥ ਹਨ। ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ “ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ,” ਅਤੇ, “ਸਲੇਮ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ,” ਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ “ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ”

³without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.

³“ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੌਣ ਸਨ ਜਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ।” ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਦੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਦੋਂ ਮਰਿਆ। ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵਰਗਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਨਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

⁴Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the best spoils.

⁴ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹਾਨ ਸੀ। ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਇੱਕ ਮਹਾਨ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਲਡ਼ਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈਅ ਦਾ ਦਸਵਾਂ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

⁵They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham,

⁵ਹੁਣ ਨੇਮ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦਸਵੰਧ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਾਜਕ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਜਾਜਕ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਨ।

⁶but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.

⁶ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਦਸਵੰਧ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਵ ਨੂੰ - ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਦੇ ਸਨ - ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

⁷But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.

⁷ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਘੱਟ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

⁸Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives.

⁸ਇਹ ਜਾਜਕ ਦਸਵੰਧ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਹਨ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਦਸਵੰਧ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜੋ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

⁹We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes,

⁹ਇਹ ਲੇਵੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦਸਵੰਧ ਇਕਠ੍ਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੇ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਵੰਧ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਲੇਵੀ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦਸਵੰਧ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

¹⁰for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.

¹⁰ਲੇਵੀ ਤਾਂ ਹਾਲੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਹੋਇਆ। ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਲੇਵੀ ਹਾਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸੀ।

¹¹Now if there were perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people have received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

¹¹ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਜਕ-ਵਰਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਪੂਰਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਿਆ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਦੀ ਲੋਡ਼ ਸੀ। ਮੇਰਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੀ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਆਰੋਨ ਵਰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇ।

¹²For the priesthood being changed, there is of necessity a change made also in the law.

¹²ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਵੀ ਬਦਲੀ ਜਾਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।

¹³For he of whom these things are said belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.

¹³ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਮਸੀਹ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਸਮੂਹ ਤੋਂ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਜਕ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ।

¹⁴For it is evident that our Lord has sprung out of Judah, about which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

¹⁴ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਡਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਇਸ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਿਆ।

¹⁵This is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there arises another priest,

¹⁵ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਸਾਗ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਅਸੀਂ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ।

¹⁶who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:

¹⁶ਉਹ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਸਦੇ ਇਨਸਾਨੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਅਸੂਲਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ, ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਿਆ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਿਆ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

¹⁷for it is testified, “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.” Psalm 110:4

¹⁷ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ; “ਤੂੰ ਮਲਕਿਸਿਦਕ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਜਾਜਕ ਹੈ।”

¹⁸For there is an annulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and uselessness

¹⁸ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਨੇਮ (ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ) ਹੁਣ ਅੰਤ ਤੇ ਆਣ ਪੁਜਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਸੀ।

¹⁹(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

¹⁹ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਉਮੀਦ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉਮੀਦ ਨਾਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

²⁰Inasmuch as he was not made priest without the taking of an oath

²⁰ਇਹ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਾਇਆ, ਉਸਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਧੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਉਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਸੌਂਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।

²¹(for they indeed have been made priests without an oath), but he with an oath by him that says of him, “The Lord swore and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.’” Psalm 110:4

²¹ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਿਆ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ; “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਧੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਦਲੇਗਾ; ‘ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਜਕ ਹੈ।”‘ ਜ਼ਬੂਰ 110:4

²²By so much, Jesus has become the collateral of a better covenant.

²²ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਕਰਾਰ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਾਮਨੀ (ਜਮਾਨਤ) ਹੈ।

²³Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.

²³ਅਤੇ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਾਜਕ ਸਨ।

²⁴But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.

²⁴ਪਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਸਦਾ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਜਾਜਕ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟੇਗਾ।

²⁵Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.

²⁵ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮਸੀਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਸੀਹ ਸਦੀਵ ਕਾਲ ਲਈ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਤਤਪਰ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

²⁶For such a high priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

²⁶ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਿਸੂ ਇੱਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਲੋਡ਼ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸ਼ੁਧ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਵਰਗ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਉੱਚਾ ਚੁਕਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

²⁷who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.

²⁷ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਵਰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਬਲੀ ਦੇਣੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਖਾਤਰ ਬਲੀ ਦੇਣੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੁਦ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਲਈ। ਪਰ ਮਸੀਹ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਲੋਡ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਮਸੀਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਬਲੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

²⁸For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the law appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.

²⁸ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕੰ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰੀਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਧੀ, ਜਿਹਡ਼ੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਆਈ। ਇਸ ਵਾਦੇ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਉਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
