¹After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he wouldn’t walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

¹ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਗਲੀਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ।

²Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was at hand.

²ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਡੇਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਬ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਨੇਡ਼ੇ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।

³His brothers therefore said to him, “Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.

³ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਦਾ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਿਯਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਕਰਿਸ਼ਮੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਥੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਣ,

⁴For no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world.”

⁴ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਛੁਪਾਉਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੇ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਅਨੋਖੇ ਕੰਮ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।”

⁵For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.

⁵ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।

⁶Jesus therefore said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.

⁶ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹਾਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸਹੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

⁷ The world can’t hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.

⁷ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਭੈਡ਼ੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

⁸ You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled.”

⁸ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਵੋ। ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਅਜੇ ਸਹੀ ਵਕਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ।”

⁹Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galilee.

⁹ਇਹ ਆਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਗਲੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਠਹਿਰਿਆ।

¹⁰But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.

¹⁰ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ, ਯਿਸੂ ਵੀ ਚਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਗੁਪਤ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਗਿਆ।

¹¹The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, “Where is he?”

¹¹ਉਥੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਇਕਠ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਲਭਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਕਿਥੇ ਹੈ?”

¹²There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others said, “Not so, but he leads the multitude astray.”

¹²ਉਥੇ ਬਡ਼ੀ ਭੀਡ਼ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਸੀ, ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਪਤ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਆਖ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, “ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ।” ਕੁਝ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”

¹³Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.

¹³ਪਰ ਇੰਨਾ ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੇ ਆਮ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਹਿਮੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।

¹⁴But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.

¹⁴ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਅਧਾ ਕੁ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਸਮਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ। ਯਿਸੂ ਮੰਦਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

¹⁵The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”

¹⁵ਯਹੂਦੀ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਪਾਠਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸਿਖਿਆ?”

¹⁶Jesus therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.

¹⁶ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ “ਜੋ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮੈਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।

¹⁷ If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I am speaking from myself.

¹⁷ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਮਰਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਮਝੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਿਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ।

¹⁸ He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

¹⁸ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਗਲਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

¹⁹ Didn’t Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?”

¹⁹ਕੀ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨੇਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦਾ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਣ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਹੋ?”

²⁰The multitude answered, “You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?”

²⁰ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੂਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ?”

²¹Jesus answered them, “I did one work, and you all marvel because of it.

²¹ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਕਰਿਸ਼ਮਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ।

²² Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.

²²ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਮੂਸਾ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ, ਇਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿਉ-ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੂਸਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਵੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ।

²³ If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man completely healthy on the Sabbath?

²³ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ, ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਵੀ, ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?

²⁴ Don’t judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”

²⁴ਕਿਸੇ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਅਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਣਾ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਬਲਕਿ ਜੋ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ ਉਸਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਣਾ ਕਰੋ।”

²⁵Therefore some of them of Jerusalem said, “Isn’t this he whom they seek to kill?

²⁵ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਜੋ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਆਗੂ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।”

²⁶Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Christ?

²⁶ਪਰ ਉਹ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੇ-ਆਮ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕ ਰਿਹਾ। ਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਸੀਹ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।

²⁷However we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from.”

²⁷ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸਲੀ ਮਸੀਹ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ?”

²⁸Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don’t know.

²⁸ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਇਥੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।

²⁹ I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”

²⁹ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।”

³⁰They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

³⁰ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਡ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਜਾਨੋਂ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਹੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।

³¹But of the multitude, many believed in him. They said, “When the Christ comes, he won’t do more signs than those which this man has done, will he?”

³¹ਪਰ ਕਈਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਮਸੀਹ ਦੇ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ। ਕੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵਧ੍ਧ ਕਰਾਮਾਤਾਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ? ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਹੀ ਮਸੀਹ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।”

³²The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.

³²ਜਦੋਂ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਚਰਚਾਵਾਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ, ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ।

³³Then Jesus said, “I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.

³³ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹਾਂ, ਅਜੇ ਥੋਡ਼ਾ ਚਿਰ ਹੋਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ, ਫਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਥੇ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।

³⁴ You will seek me, and won’t find me; and where I am, you can’t come.”

³⁴ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲਭੋਂਗੇ ਪਰ ਲਭ ਨਾ ਸਕੋਂਗੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਪਾਵੋਂਗੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ।”

³⁵The Jews therefore said among themselves, “Where will this man go that we won’t find him? Will he go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

³⁵ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਭਲਾ ਕਿਥੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਲਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ? ਕੀ ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਯੂਨਾਨੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਥੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲੋਕ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ? ਕੀ ਉਹ ਉਥੇ ਯੂਨਾਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਣ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ?

³⁶What is this word that he said, ‘You will seek me, and won’t find me; and where I am, you can’t come’? ”

³⁶ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲਭੋਂਗੇ ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੋਂਗ਼ੇ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਬਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੋਂਗੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੋਇਆ?”

³⁷Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!

³⁷ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਦਿਨ ਆਇਆ ਇਹ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਖਾਸ ਦਿਨ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਲੋ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਕੇ ਪੀਣ ਦਿਉ।

³⁸ He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.”

³⁸ਇਹ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਕੋ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਲ ਦੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਉਸਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਹਿਣਗੇ।”

³⁹But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.

³⁹ਯਿਸੂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਬੋਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਣਗੇ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਆਤਮਾ ਹਾਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹਾਲੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਲਈ ਉਭਾਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਗਿਆ।

⁴⁰Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, “This is truly the prophet.”

⁴⁰ਜੋ ਯਿਸੂ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ। ਕੁਝ ਇੱਕ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਬੀ ਹੈ।”

⁴¹Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?

⁴¹ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਮਸੀਹ ਹੈ।” ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮਸੀਹ ਗਲੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਾ।

⁴²Hasn’t the Scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, 2 Samuel 7:12 and from Bethlehem, Micah 5:2 the village where David was?”

⁴²ਇਹ ਪੋਥੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਸੀਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਦੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਥੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।”

⁴³So there arose a division in the multitude because of him.

⁴³ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਯਿਸੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਤਭੇਦ ਸੀ।

⁴⁴Some of them would have arrested him, but no one laid hands on him.

⁴⁴ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਨਾ ਪਾਇਆ।

⁴⁵The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why didn’t you bring him?”

⁴⁵ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰ, ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ?”

⁴⁶The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!”

⁴⁶ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਸਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦੇ ਕਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਬਚਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।”

⁴⁷The Pharisees therefore answered them, “You aren’t also led astray, are you?

⁴⁷ਫ਼ੇਰ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਇਸਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।

⁴⁸Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?

⁴⁸ਕੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਆਗੂ ਜਾਂ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ? ਨਹੀਂ!

⁴⁹But this multitude that doesn’t know the law is accursed.”

⁴⁹ਪਰ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰਾਪ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਹਨ।”

⁵⁰Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,

⁵⁰ਉਸਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਪਰ ਨਿਕੋਦਿਮੁਸ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਯਿਸੂ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ।

⁵¹“Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”

⁵¹ਕੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸੁਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?”

⁵²They answered him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee. See Isaiah 9:1 and Matthew 4:13-16. ”

⁵²ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਗਲੀਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੈ? ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਪਢ਼ੋ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੇਖੋਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਨਬੀ ਗਲੀਲ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ।”

⁵³Everyone went to his own house,

⁵³ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂ ਉਥੋਂ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
