¹As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth.

¹ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ।

²His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

²ਯਿਸੂ ਦੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਗੁਰੂ, ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ? ਉਸਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਜਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਂ-ਬਾਪ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ?”

³Jesus answered, “Neither did this man sin, nor his parents; but, that the works of God might be revealed in him.

³ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਉਸਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਂ-ਬਾਪ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵਿਖਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।

⁴ I must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.

⁴ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ, ਦਿਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਫਿਰ ਰਾਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ, ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਰਾਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।

⁵ While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

⁵ਜਦ ਤੀਕ ਮੈਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਚਾਨਣ ਹਾਂ।”

⁶When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man’s eyes with the mud,

⁶ਇਹ ਕਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ, ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਥੁਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਥੋਡ਼ਾ ਚਿੱਕਡ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਚਿੱਕਡ਼ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਅੱਖ ਤੇ ਲੇਪਿਆ।

⁷and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away, washed, and came back seeing.

⁷ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਲੋਆਮ ਦੇ ਕੁੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਧੋ, ਸਿਲੋਆਮ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ “ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਕੁੰਡ ਤੇ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਧੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤਿਆ। ਹੁਣ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਵਿਖਦਾ ਸੀ।

⁸The neighbors therefore, and those who saw that he was blind before, said, “Isn’t this he who sat and begged?”

⁸ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਭੀਖ ਮੰਗਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਵੇਖੋ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਹਡ਼ਾ ਬੈਠਕੇ ਭੀਖ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।”

⁹Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He looks like him.” He said, “I am he.”

¹⁰They therefore were asking him, “How were your eyes opened?”

¹⁰ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋਇਆ? ਤੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ?”

¹¹He answered, “A man called Jesus made mud, anointed my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash.’ So I went away and washed, and I received sight.”

¹¹ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਯਿਸੂ ਨਾਮੀਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਚਿੱਕਡ਼ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਲੋਮਾਨ ਕੁੰਡ ਤੇ ਧੋਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ। ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਸਿਲੋਮਾਨ ਕੁੰਡ ਤੇ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਖਾਂ ਧੋਤੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਣ ਯੋਗ ਸੀ।”

¹²Then they asked him, “Where is he?” He said, “I don’t know.”

¹²ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ “ਉਹ ਕਿਥੇ ਹੈ? ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।”

¹³They brought him who had been blind to the Pharisees.

¹³ਜਦੋਂ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ, “ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਲਿਆਏ, ਜੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ।

¹⁴It was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.

¹⁴ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਗਾਰਾ ਬਣਾਕੇ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।”

¹⁵Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I see.”

¹⁵ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਵਾਰੀ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਿਲੀ?” ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਉਸਨੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਚਿੱਕਡ਼ ਲਾਇਆ, ਮੈਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਧੋਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।”

¹⁶Some therefore of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” There was division among them.

¹⁶ਕੁਝ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਬਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਖ ਰਿਹਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।” ਕੁਝ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਪੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕਰਿਸ਼ਮੇ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।” ਯਹੂਦੀ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਿਮਤ ਨਾ ਹੋਏ।

¹⁷Therefore they asked the blind man again, “What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”

¹⁷ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ?” ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਨਬੀ ਹੈ।”

¹⁸The Jews therefore did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight,

¹⁸ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਦਿਆ ਯ੍ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

¹⁹and asked them, “Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”

¹⁹ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਂ-ਬਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ? ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਖਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਜਨਮਿਆਂ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਹੁਣ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?”

²⁰His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;

²⁰ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਾਡਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਜਨਮਿਆਂ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ।

²¹but how he now sees, we don’t know; or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. He is of age. Ask him. He will speak for himself.”

²¹ਪਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਕਿਸਨੇ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪੁਛੋ। ਉਹ ਬੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।”

²²His parents said these things because they feared the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if any man would confess him as Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.

²²ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕਿਉਕਿ ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਢ ਦੇਣਗੇ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਆਖੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ ਹੈ।

²³Therefore his parents said, “He is of age. Ask him.”

²³ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਪੁਛ ਲਵੋ।”

²⁴So they called the man who was blind a second time, and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”

²⁴ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ, ਜੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ, ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਯਿਸੂ) ਪਾਪੀ ਹੈ।”

²⁵He therefore answered, “I don’t know if he is a sinner. One thing I do know: that though I was blind, now I see.”

²⁵ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਾਪੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਗ਼ਲ੍ਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।”

²⁶They said to him again, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”

²⁶ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਸਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ? ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ?”

²⁷He answered them, “I told you already, and you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You don’t also want to become his disciples, do you?”

²⁷ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣਨੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ? ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਉਸਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਬਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ?”

²⁸They insulted him and said, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.

²⁸ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਬਡ਼ੇ ਕਰੋਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਡ਼ਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੁਸਾ ਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਹਾਂ।

²⁹We know that God has spoken to Moses. But as for this man, we don’t know where he comes from.”

²⁹ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਬਾਰੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।”

³⁰The man answered them, “How amazing! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.

³⁰ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਹ ਬਡ਼ੀ ਅਜੀਬ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਸਨੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਰਾਜੀ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

³¹We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshipper of God, and does his will, he listens to him. Psalm 66:18, Proverbs 15:29; 28:9

³¹ਅਸੀਂ ਸਭ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ। ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਹੈ।

³²Since the world began it has never been heard of that anyone opened the eyes of someone born blind.

³²ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਜਨਮੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਖਾਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਂ ਹੋਣ।

³³If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”

³³ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਯੋਗ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ।”

³⁴They answered him, “You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us?” They threw him out.

³⁴ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਸੀ। ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ?” ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ।

³⁵Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and finding him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”

³⁵ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਥੋਂ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਭ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ?”

³⁶He answered, “Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?”

³⁶ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ।”

³⁷Jesus said to him, “You have both seen him, and it is he who speaks with you.”

³⁷ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”

³⁸He said, “Lord, I believe!” and he worshiped him.

³⁸ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਝੁਕ ਕੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ।”

³⁹Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment, that those who don’t see may see; and that those who see may become blind.”

³⁹ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜਿਹਡ਼ੇ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ।”

⁴⁰Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?”

⁴⁰ਕੁਝ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇਡ਼ੇ ਖਡ਼ੇ ਸਨ, ਇਹ ਸੁਣਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹਾਂ?”

⁴¹Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

⁴¹ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਾਪ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਖਦੇ ਹੋ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ’, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਖਦੇ ਹੋ।”
