18

1It happened after many days, that the word of Yahweh came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, show yourself to Ahab; and I will send rain on the earth.”
1Huan, ni sawt kuam tak nungin hichi ahia, a kum thum kum in Toupa thu Elija kiangah a hongtunga, Va kuan inla, Ahab kiangah va kihil in; huchiin leitungah vuah ka hon zusak sin, chiin.
2Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. The famine was severe in Samaria.
2Huan, Elija Ahab kianga kihil dingin a kuanta a. Samari gamah kial a na mahmah mai hi.
3Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared Yahweh greatly:
3Huan, Ahab in Obadia, a in sunglam heutu a sama. (Obadia bel Toupa laudan siam mi tak ahi a;
4for it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Yahweh, that Obadiah took one hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
4Hichi ahia, Jezebel in Toupa jawlnei te a heuh a heuh laiin Obadia in jawlnei ja a pi a, kokhuk ah sawmnga nga in a sel a, tanghou leh tuiin a vak jel hi)
5Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go through the land, to all the springs of water, and to all the brooks. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, that we not lose all the animals.”
5Huan, Ahab in Obadia kiangah, tui naknei tengteng leh luiguam tengteng omna lam gam va tuan vialvial dih ve; sakol leh sabengtung te I hut hing theih na dingin loupa te I muhsak thei kha hiam, huchilou in jaw gante I tan vek kha ding uh, achia.
6So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.
6Huchiin gam tot suak ding a kihawm ua: Ahab pen amah kia in lampi dangah a paia, huan, Obadia pen amah kia in lampidangah a pai hi.
7As Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he recognized him, and fell on his face, and said, “Is it you, my lord Elijah?”
7Huan, huchia Obadia a pai laiin, ngaiin, Elija toh a kituak ua: huan, aman amah a thei laia, huchiin a khupboh a, nang na hi maw, ka pu Elija? Achia.
8He answered him, “It is I. Go, tell your lord, ‘Behold, Elijah is here!’”
8Huan, aman a dawnga, hi e, kuan inla, ngaiin, Elija huaiah a om hi, chiin na pu va hilh in, achia.
9He said, “Wherein have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?
9Huan, aman, thil bang ahia ka hihkhelh a, na sikha thah dinga Ahab khuta piak na ut mawk?
10As Yahweh your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom, where my lord has not sent to seek you. When they said, ‘He is not here,’ he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they didn’t find you.
10Toupa na Pathian hinna louin ka gen hi, ka puin nang honzonsak louhna nam leh gam himhim neilou eive: Hiai ah a omkei, a chih chiang un nang a honmuh louhna thu uah gam leh nam pen a kichiam sak jel hi.
11Now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here.”’
11Tuin nang, kuan inla, ngaiin, Elija huaiah a om hi, chiin na pu va hilh in, na chi mawka.
12It will happen, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of Yahweh will carry you I don’t know where; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he can’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Yahweh from my youth.
12Hichi ahi dinga, nang ka hon nutsiat takin Toupa kha in ka theih louhna ah nang a hongla mang dinga; huchiin Ahab kava hilh a, nang a hon muh theih ngal ken jaw kei a hon that mai ding hi: himahleh na sikha in ka valnou tunga kipan Toupa laudan siam sek ka hi ngala.
13Wasn’t it told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of Yahweh, how I hid one hundred men of Yahweh’s prophets with fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
13Jezebel in Toupa jawlnei te a thah laia ka thilhih, Toupa jawlnei te laka mi ja, sawmnga nga a kokhuk a, tanghou leh tuia ka vak dan te ka tapa hon hilhlou uhia?
14Now you say, ‘Go, tell your lord, “Behold, Elijah is here”;’ and he will kill me.”
14Tuin nang, kuan inla, ngaiin, Elija huaiah a om hi, chiin na pu va hilhin na chi mawk a: a honthat mahmah ding achia.
15Elijah said, “As Yahweh of Armies lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.”
15Huan, Elija in, a kianga ka om sekna sepaih te Toupa hinna lou in ka gen hi, tuni in a kiangah ka kihil ngeingei ding hi, achia.
16So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
16Huchiin Obadia Ahab houpih dingin a kuana, ava hilh ta a: Huan Ahab Elija muh tumin a kuanta hi.
17It happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”
17Huan. Hichi ahia, Ahab in Elija ava muhin Ahab in a kiangah, nang na hi maw, Israel te lunghimoh sakpa? achia.
18He answered, “I have not troubled Israel; but you, and your father’s house, in that you have forsaken the commandments of Yahweh, and you have followed the Baals.
18Huan, aman a dawnga, Israel te ka lunghimoh sak kei hi; nang leh na pa inkote eive lunghimoh sak jaw, Toupa thupiak te lehngat sana, Baal na pom jawk na ah.
19Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and four hundred fifty of the prophets of Baal, and four hundred of the prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”
19Huchiin tuin Israel te tengteng leh Baal jawlnei za li leh sawmnga leh, Asehr jawlnei, Jezebel dohkan a ankuang um jeljel na li te ka kiangah karmel tangah vasam khawmsak in achia.
20So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together to Mount Carmel.
20Huchiin Ahab in Israel suante tengteng kiangah mi a sawla, jawlnei te karmel tangah a sam khawma.
21Elijah came near to all the people, and said, “How long will you waver between the two sides? If Yahweh is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” The people answered him not a word.
21Huan, Elija in mipi te tengteng a vanaih a, vang laka bangtan om sin na hia ua? Toupa pen Pathian ahihleh, amah jui unla; huan, Baal ahihleh, amah jui un, achia. Mipiten kam khat in leng a sawng kei uh.
22Then Elijah said to the people, “I, even I only, am left a prophet of Yahweh; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred fifty men.
22Huchiin, Elija in mipite kiangah, Toupa jawlnei om sun kei kia ka hia; Baal jawlnei te bel mi za li leh sawmnga ahi uh.
23Let them therefore give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under; and I will dress the other bull, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under it.
23Huchiin bangtal nih hong pia u henla; amauten bangtal khat amau tuam dingin tel u henla, sem hen u henla, sing tungah koih u henla, a nuaiah mei toh louin: huan, ken leng bawngtal khat ka bawl sam dinga, sing tungah ka koih dinga mei ka toh sam kei ding hi.
24You call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of Yahweh. The God who answers by fire, let him be God.” All the people answered, “It is well said.”
24Huan, nou na Pathian min uh lou unla, ken leng Toupa min ka lou ding: huchiin meia hondawng Pathian pen Pathian hi hen, achia. Huan, mi tengteng in a dawng ua, a dik hi, achi uh.
25Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves, and dress it first; for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.”
25Huchiin Elija in Baal jawlnei te kiangah, nou bawngtal khat na tuam ding un tel unla, bawl masa un; nou na tam deuh ua; huan, na Pathian min uh lou unla, Ahihhangin a nuaiah mei toh kei un, achia.
26They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any who answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

27Huan, a maitam bawl kim uah a tawmtawm mai mah ua. Huan, sunlaiin hichi ahia, Elija in amau enghou in, kikou ngaih set ve ua: Pathian ahi ngala; a kingaihtuah tadih hiam, a bu tadih jual hiam, ava om mang jual hiam, ahihkeileh a ihmu zenzen a, khanloh sak ding hiam ahia hiin teh, achia.
28They cried aloud, and cut themselves in their way with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.

31Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of Yahweh came, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”

33He put the wood in order, and cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood. He said, “Fill four jars with water, and pour it on the burnt offering, and on the wood.”

36Huan, nitaklam kithoih hun laiin hichi ahia, jawlnei Elija in ava naiha, Toupa aw, Abraham te, Isaak te, Israel te Pathian, nang Israel gama Pathian na hihleh, kei na sikha ka hih, hiaite tengteng nang thua ka hih tuni in theichiat uhen.
