1 Kings

20

1Ben Hadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together; and there were thirty-two kings with him, and horses and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and fought against it.
1Huan, Suria kumpipa Benhadad in a sepaih te tengteng a kaikhawm veka: kumpipa sawmthum leh nih a tel ua, sakol leh kangtalai te toh a kuan tou a, Samari khua ava um a, a suala.
2He sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel, into the city, and said to him, “Thus says Ben Hadad,
2Israel kumpipa Ahab kiangah khopi sungah mi a sawla, a kiangah, Benhadadin hichiin a chi,
3‘Your silver and your gold is mine. Your wives also and your children, even the best, are mine.’”
3Na dangka leh na dangkaengte keia ahi; na jite leh na tate, a hoihhoihte tanin keia ahi, chiin a chi a.
4The king of Israel answered, “It is according to your saying, my lord, O king. I am yours, and all that I have.”
4Huan, Israel kumpipan ana dawnga, Ka pu, kumpipa aw, na gen bang himah ve aw; lei leh kaneih tengteng nanga ahi, a chi a.
5The messengers came again, and said, “Ben Hadad says, ‘I sent indeed to you, saying, “You shall deliver me your silver, and your gold, and your wives, and your children;
5Huan, ami sawlte apai nawn ua, Benhadadin hichiin a chi, na kiangah, na dangka te, na dangkaengte, na jite, na tate na honpiak ding ahi, chiin mi a honsawl ngeia;
6but I will send my servants to you tomorrow about this time, and they shall search your house, and the houses of your servants; and it shall be, that whatever is pleasant in your eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.”’”
6Himahleh jingchiangin hichih hun ding khawngin ka mite na kiangah ka honsawl dinga, na in leh na mite in a honmai ding ua; huan, hichi ahi dinga, na mit lala a la ding ua, a honpaipih vek ding uh, chiin, a chi ua.
7Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, “Please notice how this man seeks mischief; for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I didn’t deny him.”
7Huchiin Israel kumpipan a gama upate tengteng a sama, na nathei un, hiai miin thil hoihlou tak hih a tupdan; ka kiangah mi a honsawla, ka jite, ka tate, ka dangkate, ka dangkaengte a hongngena, nana nial leng lah ahi ngal keia, a chi a.
8All the elders and all the people said to him, “Don’t listen, neither consent.”
8Huan, upate tengteng leh mipi tengtengin a kiangah, na nalimsak nuam dah in, pha leng sa sam ken, a chi ua.
9Therefore he said to the messengers of Ben Hadad, “Tell my lord the king, ‘All that you sent for to your servant at the first I will do; but this thing I cannot do.’” The messengers departed, and brought him back the message.
9Huchiin Benhadad mi sawlte kiangah, kumpipa ka pu kiangah, na sikhakianga mi sawla nahongnget masak tengteng bangin ka hih dinga; himahleh hiai jaw ka hih theikei ding, a chi hi, chi un, a chi a. Huchiin a misawlte a pai nawnta ua, huai thu a vatun nawn uh.
10Ben Hadad sent to him, and said, “The gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people who follow me.”
10HUan, Benhadadin a kiangah mi asawl nawna, ka nungjuite tengtengin Samari kho leivui pham khat chiat leng a muh theih ding ua leh pathianten a lohloh honloh uhen, huai sanga thupi jawin leng, a chi a.
11The king of Israel answered, “Tell him, ‘Don’t let him who puts on his armor brag like he who takes it off.’”
11Huan, Israel kumpipan a dawnga, mi a kigalvan lai takin, a kigalthuamna suah khesa bang takin a kiuangsak ngei kei uh, chiin vahilh dih ua, a chi a.
12It happened, when Ben Hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings, in the pavilions, that he said to his servants, “Prepare to attack!” They prepared to attack the city.
12Huan, hichi ahi a, amah leh kumpipaten buktaa ju a nadawn khawm lai un huai thu Benhadadin a naja, a mite kiangah, kisa dih ua, a chi a, Huchiin khua sual dingin a kisata uh.
13Behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel, and said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand this day; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.’”
13Huan, ngaiin, jawlnei khatin Israel kumpipa Ahab a vanaiha, TOUPAN hichiin a chi: hiai mipi tampite na mu hia? Ngaiin, tuiin na khutah ka honpe ding ahi; huchiin kei Toupa ka hi chih na thei ding uh, chiin, a chi a.
14Ahab said, “By whom?” He said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘By the young men of the princes of the provinces.’” Then he said, “Who shall begin the battle?” He answered, “You.”
14Huan, Ahabin, kua zangin eita? A chi a. Huan, aman, TOUPAN hichiin a chi, gam khentea heutute tangvalte zangin, chiin, a chi a. Huchiin aman, kuan galkap vai a hawm dia? a chi a. Huan, aman a dawng a, nang, a chi a.
15Then he mustered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty-two. After them, he mustered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.
15Huchiin aman gam khentea heutute tangvalte a kaikhawma, za nih leh sawmthum leh nih ahi ua; huan, huai mite nungin mi tengteng, Israel suante tengteng a kaikhawma, sang sagih ahi uh.
16They went out at noon. But Ben Hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings who helped him.
16Huan, sun lai takin a vapawt ua, Benhadad leh kumpipate, amah panpihpa kumpipa sawmthum leh nihte bel huai bukta ah a na dawn kham ua,
17The young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben Hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, “Men are coming out from Samaria.”
17Huan, gam khentea heutute tangvalte a vapawt masa ua; huan, Benhadadin mi a sawla, amau, Samari khua akipana hongpawt a om uh, chiin a hilh a.
18He said, “If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive.”
18Huan, aman, kilep tuma hong a hih uleh a hingin man unla, kidou tuma hong a hih uleh ahing mahin man un, a chi a.
19So these went out of the city, the young men of the princes of the provinces, and the army which followed them.
19Huchiin huaite, gam khentea heutute tangvalte leh a honjui sepaihte khuaa kipanin apawt uh.
20They each killed his man. The Syrians fled, and Israel pursued them. Ben Hadad the king of Syria escaped on a horse with horsemen.
20Huan, a bitum chiat uh a vathat ua; huchiin Suriate a taikekta ua, Israelten a delh uh; huan, Suria kumpipa Benhadad sakol tunga tuangin sakol tungtuang mite toh a tai kheta hi.
21The king of Israel went out, and struck the horses and chariots, and killed the Syrians with a great slaughter.
21Huan, Israel kumpipa a vapawt khiaa, sakol leh kangtalaite a vasuala, Suriate tampi a that hi.
22The prophet came near to the king of Israel, and said to him, “Go, strengthen yourself, and mark, and see what you do; for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against you.”
22Huan, jawlneiin Israel kumpipa a vanaiha, a kiangah, kihat sak zok inla, na hihdan ding ngaihtuahin kum hong mang leh Suria kumpipan hong sual nawn sin ahi, a chi a.
23The servants of the king of Syria said to him, “Their god is a god of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we. But let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.
23Huan, Suria kumpipaten a kiangah, a pathiante uh tangte pathiante ahi uh; huaijiakin ei sanga hatjaw ei ve ua: phaijangah sualta le hang, amau sangin I hatzo ngeingei ding.
24Do this thing: take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their place.
24Huan, hichi bangin hihin: kumpipate a vek un kheng vek le chin, a sik un gam ukmite koih lechin;
25Muster an army, like the army that you have lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot. We will fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than them.” He listened to their voice, and did so.
25Huan, sepaihte sakol leh kangtalaite, na mansuahsa zah geih sepaihpawl dingkhe thak sak nawnin; huchiin phaijangah I sual ding ua, amau sangin I hatjaw na ding hi, a chi ua. Huan, a thu uh a ngai a, huchibangin a hihta hi.
26It happened at the return of the year, that Ben Hadad mustered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel.
26Huan, a kum nawnin hichi ahia, Benhadadin Suriate a kaikhawma, Israelte sual dingin Aphek khuaah a hoh tou hi.
27The children of Israel were mustered, and were provisioned, and went against them. The children of Israel encamped before them like two little flocks of young goats; but the Syrians filled the country.
27Huan, Israel suante a kikhawm ua, nek ding khawng a sek masasa ua, sual dingin a kisata uh; huan, Israel suanten kelnou tawmchik chik hon nih bang lelin a vanang ua; Suriate bel a gam dimin a pumdim uhi.
28A man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Because the Syrians have said, “Yahweh is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys”; therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am Yahweh.’”
28Huan, Pathian miin Israel kumpipa a vanaiha, a vahoupiha, a kiangah, Toupan hichiin a chi: Suriaten, Toupa tangte Pathian ahi a, guam Pathian jaw ahi kei, a chi ua; huaijiakin hiai mipi tampite na khutah ka honpe sin hi, huchiin kei Toupa ka hih na thei ding, chiin, a chi a.
29They encamped one over against the other seven days. So it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined; and the children of Israel killed one hundred thousand footmen of the Syrians in one day.
29Huan, ni sagih sung tak a kinang tuah nilouh ua, Huan, hichi ahi a, a ni sagih niin a kisual ta ua; huan, Israel suanten Suria mite ni khatin sepaih nuai khat a that ua.
30But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and the wall fell on twenty-seven thousand men who were left. Ben Hadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner room.
30Mi dangte bel Aphek ah, khopi sungah a tai lut ua, omlaite mi sing nih leh sang sagih kulh chimin a chip khumta. Huan, Benhadad a taia, khopi sungah dantan sunggilah a lut hi.
31His servants said to him, “See now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings. Please let us put sackcloth on our bodies, and ropes on our heads, and go out to the king of Israel. Maybe he will save your life.”
31Huan, a lawiten a kiangah, ngaiin, Israel inko laka kumpipate mi hehpih tak kumpipa ahi uh chih thu ka ja ua: saiip puan tengin, ka lu ua khaua kikhihin Israel kumpipa kiangah honvahoh sakin; aman a hon hawi nuam khamoh kei ding, a chi ua.
32So they put sackcloth on their bodies and ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, “Your servant Ben Hadad says, ‘Please let me live.’” He said, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.”
32Huchiin saiip puan atengua, a lu uah khauin a kikhih ua, Israel kumpipa kiangah a vahoh ua, na sikha Bebhadadin, hehpihtakin honhawi heh, a chi hi, a chi ua, aman, dam lai ahi maw? Ka unaupa a ka, a chi a.
33Now the men observed diligently, and hurried to take this phrase; and they said, “Your brother Ben Hadad.” Then he said, “Go, bring him.” Then Ben Hadad came out to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
33Huai miten lung nuam takin, a lungsim thu tak a gen ahi ding chih umin, na unaupa Benhadad hi mah, a chi pah ua. Huchiin aman, va hoh unla, honpi un, a chi a. Huchiin Benhadad a hongpawt khiaa, a kiangah a hoha; huan, aman kangtalai ah a natuang saka.
34Ben Hadad said to him, “The cities which my father took from your father I will restore. You shall make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria.” “I,” said Ahab, “will let you go with this covenant.” So he made a covenant with him, and let him go.
34Huan, Benhadadin a kiangah, ka pan na pa akipana khua a nalak te ka honpe nawn ding: huan, ka pan Samari khuaa dawlpi mun a bawl bangin Damaska khua ah na dawlpi mun ding na bawl sam ding hi, a chi a. Huan, huchibanga thu kikhungin ka hon paisak ding hi, a chi a. Huchiin a kiangah thu a khunga, a paisakta hi.
35A certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow by the word of Yahweh, “Please strike me!” The man refused to strike him.
35Huan, jawlnei tapate laka mi khatin Toupa thuin a lawmpa kiangah, hon khen in, a chi a. Huan, huai miin a khen nuam kei.
36Then he said to him, “Because you have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh, behold, as soon as you are departed from me, a lion shall kill you.” As soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and killed him.
36Huchiin a kiangah, Toupa thu na man louh jiakin, ngaiin, mual na honkhup san takin, humpinelkaiin a honnakei ding, a chi a. Huan, a mualkhup takin humpinelkaiin a na mua, a kei a.

37Huchiin mi dang a vamu nawna, hon khen in, a chi a. Huai, miin a khena, a khenliamta hi.
38So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with his headband over his eyes.
38Huchiin jawlnei apaia, lampi ah kumpipa a natanga, a talgaknaa a mitkhuhin a kibawl lamdanga.
39As the king passed by, he cried to the king; and he said, “Your servant went out into the midst of the battle; and behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man to me, and said, ‘Guard this man! If by any means he be missing, then your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.’
39Huan, kumpipa a hongtunin kumpipa a nasama, kei na sikha kidoua pipen ah ka vahoha; huan, ngaiin, mi khat a hongkilehheia, ka kiangah mi khat a honpia, hiai mi na vengin, a tai mang leh a hinna sikin na hinna na tan dinga, ahihkeileh dangka talent khat na pe ding ahi, a chi a.
40As your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” The king of Israel said to him, “So your judgment shall be; you yourself have decided it.”
40Huan, kei na sikha ka pumbuai jiakin a napaimangta hi, a chi a. Huan, Israel kumpipain a kiangah, huchibang geih ahi, natunga thupuk; nang mahmah in hihpuk khin neive maw, achia.
41He hurried, and took the headband away from his eyes; and the king of Israel recognized that he was of the prophets.
41Huan, aman a mit akipan tal gakna a lem zok a; huan, Israel kumpipan jawlnei te laka mi ahi chih a theita hi.
42He said to him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.’”
42Huan, aman a kiangah, Toupan hichiin achi: ka mi hamsiat sa na khah jiak in a hinna sikin na hinna, a mite sikin na mite na tan ding, chiin, achia.Huan, Israel kumpipa bel nguitak leh lung kimlou tak in a pai a, Samari khua ah a hoh ta hi.
43The king of Israel went to his house sullen and angry, and came to Samaria.
43Huan, Israel kumpipa bel nguitak leh lung kimlou tak in a pai a, Samari khua ah a hoh ta hi.
