¹The two angels came to Sodom at evening. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them. He bowed himself with his face to the earth,

¹Huan, angel nihin nitaklamin Sodom khua a va pha suk ua; Lota Sodom kho kulh kongkhak ah a na tua: huan, Lotain amau a na mua, kipahpih dingin a dinga; huan, a mai a leisiin chibai a buka;

²and he said, “See now, my lords, please turn aside into your servant’s house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way.” They said, “No, but we will stay in the street all night.”

²Huan, Ngai un, ka toupate aw, hehpihtakin na sikha uh in ah lut phot unla, giak unla, na khete uh sil un; huchiin na thou baih ding ua, na pai nawn na ding uh, achia. Himahleh amau, hi lo e, kholak ah ka giak zo ding uh, a chi ua.

³He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

³Ahihhangin aman a jawl jawla; huchiin a kiangah a pi ua, a in ah a lut ua; huan, aman meh a bawl a, tanghou silngou sohlouh a kanga, huan, a neta uh.

⁴But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.

⁴Himahleh, a lup ma un khua a mi, Sodom khuaa mite ngeiin veng tenga mi tengteng a tek akhangin, a in a um kimvelta ua;

⁵They called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them.”

⁶Lot went out to them to the door, and shut the door after him.

⁷He said, “Please, my brothers, don’t act so wickedly.

⁸See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof.”

⁹They said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now will we deal worse with you, than with them!” They pressed hard on the man Lot, and drew near to break the door.

⁹Huan, amau, honhon maiin, a chi ua, Huan, amau mahin, hiai mi soplai hiaia om dingin a hong pem luta, vaihawmpa a om a tum viala: tunjaw amau tunga hih sangin na tungah a hih hoih semsem ding uh, a chi ua. Huan, mi (Lota) a bohta ua, kongkhak suse dingin a honnaih ua.

¹⁰But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.

¹⁰Himahleh miten a khut uh a golh khia ua, Lota a kiang uah in sungah a kailut ua, kongkhak a khak bikbek uh.

¹¹They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

¹¹Huan, kongkhak bula mite, a lian a neuin, a mit uh a tosak ua, huchiin kongkhak a muzou kei uhi.

¹²The men said to Lot, “Do you have anybody else here? Sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whoever you have in the city, bring them out of the place:

¹²Huan, miten, Lota kiangah, hiai mite lou hiaiah inkuanpihte dang na nei hia? na makpapa leh, na tapate leh, na tanute leh, kho sunga na neih peuhmahte khua akipanin pi khiain:

¹³for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before Yahweh that Yahweh has sent us to destroy it.”

¹³Toupa maa a kikou husa a nathupi jiakin hiai khua hihmang ding ka hi uh; hihmang dingin Toupan lah a honsawl ngala, a chi ua.

¹⁴Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city.” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.

¹⁴Huchiin Lota a pai khiaa, a tanute kitenpih, a makpate kiangah a vagena, thou unla hiai khua akipan pawt un, Toupan khua hihmang sin ahi, achia. Himahleh a makpate ngaihin chiamnuih thugen bang lel ahi.

¹⁵When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, “Get up! Take your wife, and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city.”

¹⁵Huan, phalvakin, angelten, Thou inla, na ji leh hiaia na tanu nih omte piin; huchilouin jaw hiai kho gawtna ah na mang tel kha ding uh, chiin, Lota a nohta ua.

¹⁶But he lingered; and the men grabbed his hand, his wife’s hand, and his two daughters’ hands, Yahweh being merciful to him; and they took him out, and set him outside of the city.

¹⁶Himahleh a awltat mahmah lai ngala; huchiin, Toupan amah a hehpih jiakin miten a khut leh, a ji khut leh a tanu nihte khut a len ua: huchiin a pikhia ua, kho polamah a koihta uh.

¹⁷It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said, “Escape for your life! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!”

¹⁷Huan, hichi ahi a, polamah a pikhiak khit un, Na hinna dingin taikhiain; na nunglam nga kenla, Phaijang himhim ah leng khawl ken; hua tang sang ah suahtak sanin, huchilouinjaw na mang tek kha ding hi, achia.

¹⁸Lot said to them, “Oh, not so, my lord.

¹⁸Himahleh Lotain a kiang uah, ka Toupa, huchijaw hi kei hen:

¹⁹See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can’t escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die.

¹⁹Ngaiin, na sikhain na hehpihna a mua, nang na chitna na liansaka, huai chitna ka hinna humbitin ka tungah na langsak ahi; hua tang sang ah jaw ka tai theikei ding, thil hoihlou takin a honphain ka si kha ding:

²⁰See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there (isn’t it a little one?), and my soul will live.”

²⁰Ngaiin, hua khua taina dingin a nai pena, kho neu chilik leng ahi ngala: aw, huailaiah (kho neu chilik ahi ka hia?) hontai sak jawin, huchiin ka hing ding hi, achia.

²¹He said to him, “Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.

²¹Huan, aman, a kiangah, Ngaiin, huai thil tungtangah leng kon mang hi, na kho gen ka hihmang dah ding.

²²Hurry, escape there, for I can’t do anything until you get there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. Zoar means “little.”

²²Kin inla, huailaiah taiin; huailai na tun mateng lah bangmah ka hih thei sin ngal keia, achia. Huaijiakin huai kho min dingin Zoar a sata uh.

²³The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.

²³Lota Zoar khua a tunin leitungah ni a hongsuak khinta.

²⁴Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky.

²⁴Huan, Toupan Sodom leh Gomorra kho tungah van a Toupa kianga kipanin kat leh mei a zu saka;

²⁵He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground.

²⁵Huchiin, huai khuate leh, Phaijang tengteng leh, khua a mite tengteng leh, leitunga thil poute a hihmang vek hi.

²⁶But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

²⁶A ji bel Lota nung lama kipanin a lehngata, chi khuam a hongsuakta hi.

²⁷Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Yahweh.

²⁷Huan, Abraham bel takin Toupa maa a dinna munah a hohtou a:

²⁸He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and looked, and saw that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.

²⁸Huan, Sodom leh Gomorra kho lam leh Phaijang gam tengteng lam a ena, a en gigea; huan, ngaiin, huai gam a meikhu halzulna meikhu bang maiin khu tou ngoingoi hi.

²⁹It happened, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.

²⁹Huan, hichi ahia, Pathianin Phaijang khuate a hihman laia, Lota manthatna laka kipanin a sawlkhia hi.

³⁰Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters.

³⁰Huan, Lota Zoar khua akipan a pai toua, tangah a oma, a tanu nihte leng a kiangah a om uh. Zoar khua ah lah a om ngam ngal kei ua; huan, amah leh a tanu nihte kohawm ah a omta uhi.

³¹The firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us in the way of all the earth.

³¹Huan, a upa jawin, a naupang jaw kiangah, I pa a upataa, khovel tengteng dan banga honkithuahpih dingin lei ah lah pasal khat lel leng a om nawn ngal keia:

³²Come, let’s make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s seed.”

³²Kisain, I pa uain I dawnsak dia, huchiin I pa chi suan bei loua I bawl theihna dingin a kiangah I lum ding, achia.

³³They made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she arose.

³³Huchiin, huai janin a pa uh uain a dawnsakta ua: huan, a upa jaw a luta, a pa kiangah a valuma; huan, aman a lup lam a phawk keia, a thoh nawn lam leng a phawk sam kei hi.

³⁴It came to pass on the next day, that the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine again, tonight. You go in, and lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s seed.”

³⁴Huan, hichi ahia, a jingin a upa jawin a naupang jaw kiangah, ngaiin, jan janin ka pa kiangah ka luma; tu janin leng uain I dawn sak nawn dia; huan, nang lut inla, I pa chi suan bei loua I bawl theihna dingin a kiangah valum samin, achia.

³⁵They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she got up.

³⁵Huchiin, huai janin leng a pa uh uain a dawn sak nawn ua: huan, a naupang jaw a thou a, a kiangah a valumtaa; huan, aman a lup lama phawk keia, a thoh nawn lam leng a phawk sam kei.

³⁶Thus both of Lot’s daughters were with child by their father.

³⁶Huchibangin Lota tanu nihten a pa uh lakah nau a pai tuaktuak uhi.

³⁷The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.

³⁷Huan, a upa jawin tapa a nei a, a min din Moab a sa: huai mi tulaia Moabte suangpa ahi.Huan, a naupang jawin leng tapa a neia, amin dingin Ben-Ammi a saa: huai mi tulaia Ammon suante suangpa ahi hi.

³⁸The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.
