15

1Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,
1Huailai in, Jerusalem khua a om Pharisaite leh laigelhmite Jesu kiang ah a hong ua,
2“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.”
2Bangdia na nungzuite upate thugousiah a talek nak uh ahia? tanghou a nek chiang un a khut uh a sil ngeikei uh, a chi ua.
3He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
3Huan, aman tuh a kiang uah, Nou leng bang dia na thugousiah ziak ua Pathian thupiak a talek na hi ua?
4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’
4Pathian in, Na nu leh na pa zah in, Kuapeuh a nu hiam a pa hiam gensia tuh si ngeingei heh, a chi ngal a.
5 But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”
5Nou bel, Kuapeuh a nu hiam a pa hiam kiang a, Non zatna ding Pathian kiang a piak a hita, chi peuhmah in,

7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
7Nou lepchiahte, Isaiin na tungtang thu uh a na genkhol dik mahmah hi.
8 ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
8Hiai miten a kam un a hon zah ua, himahleh a lungtang un a hon gamlat uhi.
9 And in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’”
9Abang abang hileh, a thuhilhna uah mihing thupiak a hilh ziak un a hon biak uh a thawn mai ahi, chiin, a chi a, a dawng a.
10He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.
10Huan, mipi a sam a, a kiang uah, Ngaikhia unla, na theisiam un;
11 That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
11Kam a lut mihing hihnin a pang ahi kei; himahleh kam a pawt in, huai ngei in mihing a hihnin ahi zaw, a chi a.
12Then the disciples came, and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?”

13But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted.
13Aman tuh, Kung tengteng ka Pa van a om suanlouh tuh bohkhiak in a om ding.
14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

17 Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?
17Kam a lut peuhmah gil ah a ke khia a, dailenna ah paihkhiak in a om chih na theikei ua hia?
18 But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.
18Kam a pawtte bel lungtang a hong pawt ahi ua: huaite ngeingei in mihing a hihnin nak.
19 For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
