1Don’t be envious of evil men; neither desire to be with them:
1Mi giloute siatna dingin enlah ken, a kiang ua om ut sam ken:
2for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about mischief.
2A lungtang un lah nuaisiahna a sin ngala, huan a mukte un siatna thu a gen ahi.
3Through wisdom a house is built; by understanding it is established;
3Pilna jiakin in lamin a oma; theihsiamnain hihkipin a om:
4by knowledge the rooms are filled with all rare and beautiful treasure.
4Huan theihnain dantante hihdimin a om hausakna manpha leh nuamte tengtengin.
5A wise man has great power; and a knowledgeable man increases strength;
5Mi pil a hat: ahi, theihna miin hatna a pungsak.
6for by wise guidance you wage your war; and victory is in many advisors.
6Pina pilin na galdouna bawl ding na hi ngala: huan thuhilhmi tampite ah bitna a om.
7Wisdom is too high for a fool: he doesn’t open his mouth in the gate.
7Mi hai adingin pilna a sang lua: kongpi ah a kam ka kei.
8One who plots to do evil will be called a schemer.
8Kuapeuh hoihlou hih ngaihtuah, miten siatna deihmi a chi ding uh.
9The schemes of folly are sin. The mocker is detested by men.
9Mi hai ngaihtuahna khelhna ahi: huan musitmi mite adingin kihhuai ahi.
10If you falter in the time of trouble, your strength is small.
10Vangsiat nia na bah leh, na hatna a neu.
11Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!
11Sihna lama puak manga omte suaktasak in, huan thaha om dia mansate nangman suaktasak in.
12If you say, “Behold, we didn’t know this”; doesn’t he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, doesn’t he know it? Shall he not render to every man according to his work?
12Ngaiin, hiai ka theikei uh, na chih leh: lungtangte bukpan huaituh a hgaihtuah kei maw? huan na kha kempan, huaituh a theikei maw? huan michih kiangah a thilhih bangin a pe kei ding maw?
13My son, eat honey, for it is good; the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste:
13Ka tapa, khuaiju ne in, a hoih ngala; huan cheap khum khuaikhak:
14so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul; if you have found it, then there will be a reward, your hope will not be cut off.
14Huchiin pilna na kha lama ding ahi chih na thei ding: na muh leh, huchiin kipahman a om ding, huan na lametna sat khiak ahi kei ding hi.
15Don’t lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous. Don’t destroy his resting place:
15Aw giloupa, mi diktat omna dou dingin tang ken; a khawlna mun hihsiatsak hen:
16for a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again; but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
16Mi diktat lah sagih vei a puka, huan a thou nawn ngala; himahleh migilou tuahsia zohin a om ding hi.
17Don’t rejoice when your enemy falls. Don’t let your heart be glad when he is overthrown;
17Na melma a puk lain nuamsa ken, zoha a om lain na lungtang kipak kei hen:
18lest Yahweh see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
18TOUPAN huai a mu khain, amah a kipahpih kei khain, huan amah akipan a thanpaihna a hei mang kha ding hi.
19Don’t fret yourself because of evildoers; neither be envious of the wicked:
19Gilou hihte jiakin kilungkhamsak dah in: giloute ah leng eng sam ken:
20for there will be no reward to the evil man; and the lamp of the wicked shall be snuffed out.
20Mi gilou adinga kipahman om lou ding ahi ngala: mi gilou khawnvak hek lupin a om ding.
21My son, fear Yahweh and the king. Don’t join those who are rebellious:
21Ka tapa, TOUPA leh kumpipa kihta in: huan a koimahmah leng thumanlou ken.
22for their calamity will rise suddenly; the destruction from them both—who knows?
22A mau apana-siatna lah thakhata om guih ding ahi ngala: huan amaute apan tuah siatna kua ahia thei?
23These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good.
23Hiaite leng mi pil thugente ahi. Vaihawmna mite deihsaktuam neih a hoih kei.
24He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous”; peoples shall curse him, and nations shall abhor him—
24Kuapeuh mi gilou kianga, Na diktat hi, chi peumah; miten amah a hamsiat ding ua, namten amah a kih ding.
25but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and a rich blessing will come on them.
25Himahlel amah salte adingin kipahna ahi ding, huan a tunguah vualjawlna hoih a hongtung ding.
26An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.
26Dawnna dik pia mukte a tawpa.
27Prepare your work outside, and get your fields ready. Afterwards, build your house.
27Polamah na thilhih bawlkhol inla, lou sungah nang adingin huai tuh mansain bawl in; huan huainungin na in lam in.
28Don’t be a witness against your neighbor without cause. Don’t deceive with your lips.
28A bul beiin na inveng siatna dingin theihpihmi hi ken; huan na mukte in khem ken.
29Don’t say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.”
29Ka tunga a hih bangin amah tungah leng ka hih ding, chi ken; mi a nasep bangin ka thuk ding.
30I went by the field of the sluggard, by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
30Thadahmi lou kiangah ka paia, huan theihsiamna bei mi grephuan kiangah;
31Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.
31Huan, ngaiin, lignin a khannelh khin veka, huaia aloma louling-neiin a khuhtaa, huan huaia asuang bangte a chim khinta.
32Then I saw, and considered well. I saw, and received instruction:
32Huchihlaiin ka ena, hoih takin ka ngaihtuaha: ka mua, hilhna ka sangta hi.
33a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep;
33Alah ihmut neu chik, lusuk neu chik, ihmut khut khawng khek zek.Huchibangin suamhatmi bangin na gentheihna a hongpai dinga; huan mi kigalvan bangin na taksapna.
34so your poverty will come as a robber, and your want as an armed man.
34Huchibangin suamhatmi bangin na gentheihna a hongpai dinga; huan mi kigalvan bangin na taksapna.
