¹After this it happened, that David struck the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

¹ بعد از مدّتی داوود بر فلسطینیان حمله کرد و آنها را شکست داد. شهر جت و روستاهای اطراف آن را متصرّف شد.

²He struck Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

² او همچنین موآبیان را شکست داده، آنها تابع او شدند و به او باج می‌دادند.

³David struck Hadadezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

³ داوود همچنان هددعزر، پادشاه صوبه را که می‌خواست سرزمین سواحل بالای رودخانهٔ فرات را اشغال کند، در سرحد حمات شکست داد

⁴David took from him one thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.

⁴ و یک‌هزار ارّابه، هفت هزار سواره نظام و بیست هزار پیاده نظام او را به دست آورد. از جمله تمام اسبها صد رأس آنها را برای خود نگه داشت و پاهای سایر اسبها را لنگ کرد.

⁵When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men.

⁵ وقتی سوریان دمشق به کمک هددعزر، پادشاه صوبه آمدند، داوود بیست و دو هزار از سوریان را به قتل رساند.

⁶Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

⁶ بعد داوود تعدادی از پادگانهای خود را در سوریه دمشق برای کنترل شهر گماشت. و سوریان هم تابع داوود شدند و به او باج می‌دادند. به این ترتیب به هر جایی که داوود می‌رفت، خداوند پیروزی را نصیب او می‌کرد.

⁷David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

⁷ سپرهای طلایی را که از افسران هدد عزر گرفته بود همه را به اورشلیم برد.

⁸From Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much brass, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

⁸ از طبحت و کان، دو شهر هددعزر، یک مقدار زیاد فلز برنزی به دست آورد و سلیمان از آن حوض بزرگ، ستونها و ظروف برنزی ساخت.

⁹When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,

⁹ چون توعی، پادشاه حمات شنید که داوود تمام لشکر هددعزر، پادشاه صوبه را شکست داده است،

¹⁰he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him; (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou;) and he had with him all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

¹⁰ پسر خود، هدورام را پیش داوود فرستاد تا به‌خاطر پیروزی او بر هددعزر سلام و تهنیت گوید، زیرا هددعزر همیشه با توعی در جنگ بود. او همچنان انواع اشیای طلایی، نقره‌ای و برنزی را به عنوان تُحفه برایش فرستاد.

¹¹King David also dedicated these to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

¹¹ داوود آنها را هم با تمام نقره و طلایی که از مردم دیگر، یعنی اَدومیان، موآبیان، عمونیان و فلسطینیان به دست آورده بود وقف خداوند کرد.

¹²Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah struck of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand.

¹² ابیشای، پسر صرویه، هجده هزار از اَدومیان را در درّهٔ نمک به قتل رساند،

¹³He put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

¹³ و برای کنترل اَدوم یک عدّه از سپاهیان را در آنجا گذاشت و تمام اَدومیان تابع داوود شدند و به هر جایی که پای داوود می‌رسید خداوند او را پیروز می‌کرد.

¹⁴David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness to all his people.

¹⁴ به این ترتیب، داوود حکمفرمای تمام قلمرو اسرائیل شد و با عدالت و انصاف بر مردم حکومت می‌کرد.

¹⁵Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

¹⁵ یوآب، پسر صرویه فرماندار عمومی لشکر داوود بود. یهوشافاط، پسر اخیلود وزیر اطلاعات،

¹⁶and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

¹⁶ صادوق، پسر اخیطوب و اخیملک، پسر ابیاتار، کاهنان، شوشا منشی، بنایاهو، پسر یهویاداع فرماندهٔ گارد شاهی -‌کریتیان و فلیتیان- و پسران داوود معاونین اول او بودند.

¹⁷and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.

¹⁷ بنایاهو، پسر یهویاداع فرماندهٔ گارد شاهی -‌کریتیان و فلیتیان- و پسران داوود معاونین اول او بودند.
