¹It happened, at the time of the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, that Joab led forth the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. Joab struck Rabbah, and overthrew it.

¹ در بهار، هنگامی‌که پادشاهان به جنگ می‌روند، یوآب ارتش را بیرون برد و سرزمین عمونی‌ها را ویران کرد و شهر رَبّه را محاصره نمود. امّا داوود در اورشلیم ماند. یوآب به شهر رّبه حمله کرد و آن را ویران نمود.

²David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set on David’s head: and he brought forth the spoil of the city, exceeding much.

² داوود تاج بت مِلکُوم را از سرش برداشت. او دریافت که وزن آن حدود سی و چهار کیلوگرم طلا و در آن سنگهای گرانبها بود و آن را بر سر داوود گذاشتند. او همچنین غنایم بسیاری از شهر با خود آورد.

³He brought forth the people who were therein, and cut them with saws, and with iron picks, and with axes. David did so to all the cities of the children of Ammon. David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

³ او مردم شهر را بیرون آورد و با ارّه، کلنگ و تبر به بیگاری گماشت. داوود با همهٔ مردم شهرهای دیگر عمونی‌ها چنین کرد. آنگاه داوود و همهٔ مردم به اورشلیم بازگشتند.

⁴It happened after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines: then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, of the sons of the giant; and they were subdued.

⁴ پس از این، جنگ با فلسطینی‌ها در جازر درگرفت و سبکای حوشاتی، سفای را که از فرزندان یکی از غولها بود، کشت و در نتیجه فلسطینی‌ها شکست خوردند.

⁵There was again war with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

⁵ باز در جنگی دیگر با فلسطینیان، الحانان، پسر یاعیر، لحمی را که برادر جلیات جتی بود و نیزه‌ای به اندازهٔ نورد بافندگی داشت، کشت.

⁶There was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were twenty-four, six on each hand, and six on each foot; and he also was born to the giant.

⁶ نبرد دیگری در جت درگرفت، در آنجا مرد غول پیکری بود که دستها و پاهای او شش انگشت داشت و مجموع آنها بیست و چهار انگشت بود و از نسل غولها بود.

⁷When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David’s brother killed him.

⁷ هنگامی‌که او اسرائیل را مسخره کرد، یوناتان، پسر شمعه، برادر داوود، او را کشت. ایشان از نسل غولها در جت بودند که به دست داوود و بندگانش کشته شدند.

⁸These were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
