¹Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he joined affinity with Ahab.

¹ هنگامی‌که یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا، ثروتمند و مشهور شد، با خاندان اخاب، پادشاه اسرائیل، نسبت خانوادگی ایجاد کرد.

²After certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.

² بعد از چند سالی او برای دیدن اخاب پادشاه به سامره رفت. اخاب تعداد زیادی گوسفند و گاو برای او و همراهانش سر برید و او را تشویق کرد که به راموت جلعاد حمله کند.

³Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”

³ اخاب، پادشاه اسرائیل به یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا گفت: «آیا همراه من به راموت جلعاد خواهی آمد؟» او پاسخ داد: «من با تو هستم، مردم من مردم تو هستند. ما در جنگ همراه تو خواهیم بود.»

⁴Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the word of Yahweh.”

⁴ امّا یهوشافاط به پادشاه اسرائیل گفت: «ابتدا از کلام خداوند راهنمایی بگیریم.»

⁵Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” They said, “Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

⁵ پس پادشاه اسرائیل تمام انبیا را که جمعاً چهارصد نفر بودند جمع کرد و از آنها پرسید: «آیا برای جنگ به راموت جلعاد برویم یا نه؟» آنها جواب دادند: «بروید و خدا پادشاه را پیروز خواهد کرد.»

⁶But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of Yahweh besides, that we may inquire of him?”

⁶ امّا یهوشافاط پرسید: «آیا نبی دیگری از خداوند اینجا نیست که با او مشورت کنیم؟»

⁷The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”

⁷ پادشاه اسرائیل به یهوشافاط گفت: «یک نفر دیگر نیز هست که می‌توانیم توسط او از خداوند راهنمایی بخواهیم. میکایا پسر یملا، امّا من از او متنفّرم، زیرا او هرگز برای من پیشگویی خوب نمی‌کند بلکه همیشه پیشگویی‌های بد می‌کند.» یهوشافاط گفت: «پادشاه نباید چنین سخن بگویند.»

⁸Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, “Get Micaiah the son of Imla quickly.”

⁸ آنگاه پادشاه اسرائیل یکی از افسران را فراخواند و به او گفت: «هرچه زودتر میکایا پسر یملا را بیاورید.»

⁹Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

⁹ پادشاه اسرائیل و یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا، هر دو جامهٔ شاهانه دربر کرده هریک بر تختهای خود در جلوی دروازهٔ سامره در زمین خرمنگاهی نشسته بودند و همهٔ انبیا هم در حضور ایشان نبوّت می‌کردند.

¹⁰Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘With these you shall push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’”

¹⁰ صدقیا پسر کنعنه، که شاخهای آهنین برای خود ساخته بود گفت: «خداوند چنین می‌فرماید: 'با اینها مردم سوریه را شکست می‌دهی و از بین می‌بری.'»

¹¹All the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

¹¹ انبیای دیگر هم همین پیشگویی را کردند و گفتند: «به راموت جلعاد حمله کن و پیروز می‌شوی چون خداوند آنها را به دست پادشاه تسلیم می‌کند.»

¹²The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Let your word therefore, please be like one of theirs, and speak good.”

¹² قاصدی که به دنبال میکایا رفته بود به وی گفت: «ببین، همهٔ انبیا پیروزی پادشاه را پیشگویی می‌کنند، بگذار تا سخنان تو هم مانند یکی از ایشان و مثبت باشد.»

¹³Micaiah said, “As Yahweh lives, what my God says, that will I speak.”

¹³ امّا میکایا گفت: «به خداوند زنده سوگند که هرچه را که خدای من بفرماید آن را خواهم گفت.»

¹⁴When he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” He said, “Go up, and prosper. They shall be delivered into your hand.”

¹⁴ هنگامی‌که میکایا نزد اخاب پادشاه آمد، پادشاه به او گفت: «میکایا، آیا برای نبرد به راموت جلعاد برویم یا نه؟» او پاسخ داد: «حمله کنید! حتماً پیروز می‌شوید، آنها به دست شما داده خواهند شد.»

¹⁵The king said to him, “How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Yahweh?”

¹⁵ امّا اخاب پادشاه به او گفت: «چند بار باید تو را سوگند بدهم تا فقط حقیقت را به نام خداوند به من بگویی؟»

¹⁶He said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. Yahweh said, ‘These have no master. Let them return every man to his house in peace.’”

¹⁶ آنگاه میکایا گفت: «من همهٔ قوم اسرائیل را دیدم که مانند گوسفندان بدون شبان در تپّه‌ها پراکنده بودند و خداوند فرمود: 'اینان سروری ندارند، بگذار هریک در صلح به خانهٔ خویش بازگردد.'»

¹⁷The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”

¹⁷ پادشاه اسرائیل به یهوشافاط گفت: «آیا به شما نگفتم که او نبوّت خوب برای من نخواهد کرد، و فقط فاجعه؟»

¹⁸Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of Yahweh: I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.

¹⁸ آنگاه میکایا گفت: «پس کلام خداوند را بشنوید: من خداوند را دیدم که بر تخت خود نشسته است و همهٔ فرشتگانش در دست راست و چپ او ایستاده بودند

¹⁹Yahweh said, ‘Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One spoke saying in this way, and another saying in that way.

¹⁹ خداوند فرمود: 'چه کسی اخاب، پادشاه اسرائیل را فریب خواهد داد تا به راموت جلعاد برود تا در آنجا کشته شود؟' بعضی از فرشتگان چیزی گفتند و برخی چیز دیگر.

²⁰A spirit came out, stood before Yahweh, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “Yahweh said to him, ‘How?’

²⁰ تا روحی جلو آمد و در حضور خداوند ایستاد و گفت: 'من او را فریب خواهم داد.' خداوند از او پرسید: 'چگونه؟'

²¹“He said, ‘I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ “He said, ‘You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go forth, and do so.’

²¹ او پاسخ داد: 'من خواهم رفت، و روحی دروغ در دهان انبیای او خواهم بود.' آنگاه خداوند فرمود: 'تو او را فریب خواهی داد و موفّق خواهی شد، برو و چنین کن.'

²²“Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you.”

²² «پس می‌بینی که خداوند روح دروغ در دهان انبیای تو نهاده است و خداوند برای تو فاجعه اعلام کرده است.»

²³Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the Spirit of Yahweh go from me to speak to you?”

²³ آنگاه صدقیا پسر کنعنه جلو آمد و به صورت میکایا سیلی زد و پرسید: «روح خداوند کی از پیش من رفت و نزد تو آمد و با تو حرف زد؟»

²⁴Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day, when you shall go into an inner room to hide yourself.”

²⁴ میکایا جواب داد: «روزی که در پَستو بروی و خود را پنهان کنی آنگاه خواهی دانست.»

²⁵The king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;

²⁵ پادشاه اسرائیل گفت: «میکایا را دستگیر کنید و نزد آمون، حاکم شهر و یوآش، پسر پادشاه ببرید

²⁶and say, ‘Thus says the king, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.”’”

²⁶ و بگویید: 'پادشاه امر کرده است که این مرد را در زندان بیندازید و به او کمی نان و آب بدهید تا من بسلامتی از جنگ بازگردم.'»

²⁷Micaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me.” He said, “Listen, you peoples, all of you!”

²⁷ میکایا گفت: «اگر تو بسلامتی برگشتی معلوم می‌شود که خداوند با من حرف نزده است.» بعد رو به‌ طرف مردم کرد و گفت: «شما هم بشنوید و شاهد باشید.»

²⁸So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

²⁸ پس پادشاه اسرائیل و یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا رهسپار راموت جلعاد شدند.

²⁹The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.

²⁹ پادشاه اسرائیل به یهوشافاط گفت: «من با تغییر قیافه به میدان جنگ می‌روم و تو لباس شاهی خود را بپوش.» بعد پادشاه تغییر قیافه داده به جنگ رفت.

³⁰Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, “Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”

³⁰ پادشاه سوریه به فرماندهان ارّابه‌های جنگی امر کرد و گفت: «از همه صرف‌نظر کنید و فقط به پادشاه اسرائیل حمله کنید.»

³¹It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.

³¹ هنگامی‌که فرماندهان ارّابه‌ها یهوشافاط را دیدند، گمان کردند که پادشاه اسرائیل است، به سوی او بازگشتند تا به او یورش آورند. امّا یهوشافاط فریاد برآورد و خداوند او را یاری نمود و ایشان را از وی دور کرد.

³²It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

³² چون فرماندهان پی بردند که او پادشاه اسرائیل نیست، از تعقیب او دست کشیدند.

³³A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, “Turn your hand, and carry me out of the army; for I am severely wounded.”

³³ امّا برحسب اتّفاق سربازی کمان خود را کشید و تیری را رها کرد و تیر به دَرز زِرِه اخاب پادشاه خورد و اخاب به ارّابه‌ران خود گفت: «من زخمی شده‌ام. بازگرد و مرا از میدان جنگ بیرون کن.» در آن روز نبرد سختی در گرفت، پادشاه اسرائیل خود را ایستاده در ارّابه‌اش، روبه‌روی سوری‌ها نگاه داشته بود تا سرانجام هنگام غروب آفتاب جان سپرد.

³⁴The battle increased that day. However the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening; and about the time of the going down of the sun, he died.

³⁴ در آن روز نبرد سختی در گرفت، پادشاه اسرائیل خود را ایستاده در ارّابه‌اش، روبه‌روی سوری‌ها نگاه داشته بود تا سرانجام هنگام غروب آفتاب جان سپرد.
