¹In those days was Hezekiah sick to death. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Set your house in order; for you shall die, and not live.’”

¹ در آن روزها حزقیا تا سرحد مرگ بیمار شد. اشعیای نبی، پسر آموص نزد او رفت و گفت: «خداوند می‌فرماید: کارهایت را سر و سامان بده، زیرا تو خواهی مرد و بهبود نخواهی یافت.»

²Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to Yahweh, saying,

² آنگاه حزقیا روی به سوی دیوار نمود و چنین دعا کرد:

³“Remember now, Yahweh, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” Hezekiah wept bitterly.

³ «اکنون ای خداوند، من به تو التماس می‌کنم، به یاد آور که من چگونه با وفاداری و با تمام قلبم در برابر تو گام برداشته‌ام و آنچه را در نظر تو نیک بود، انجام داده‌ام.» حزقیا به تلخی گریست.

⁴It happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle part of the city, that the word of Yahweh came to him, saying,

⁴ قبل از اینکه اشعیا از حیاط میانی کاخ خارج شود، کلام خداوند بر او آمد:

⁵“Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘Thus says Yahweh, the God of David your father, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day, you shall go up to the house of Yahweh.

⁵ «بازگرد و به حزقیا رهبر قوم من بگو، خداوند خدای جدّت داوود چنین می‌گوید: 'من دعای تو را شنیده‌ام و اشکهای تو را دیده‌‌ام، من تو را شفا خواهم داد، در روز سوم برخیز و به معبد بزرگ برو.

⁶I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.”’”

⁶ من پانزده سال به عمر تو می‌افزایم. من تو را و این شهر را از دست امپراتور آشور رهایی می‌بخشم و من به‌خاطر خودم و خدمتگزارم داوود از این شهر دفاع خواهم کرد.'»

⁷Isaiah said, “Take a cake of figs.” They took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.

⁷ اشعیا گفت: «خمیری از انجیر بیاورید و روی دُمَل او بگذارید تا خوب شود.»

⁸Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What shall be the sign that Yahweh will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of Yahweh the third day?”

⁸ حزقیا از اشعیا پرسید: «نشانهٔ شفای من از طرف خداوند چیست؟ و من چگونه بعد از سه روز به معبد بزرگ بروم؟»

⁹Isaiah said, “This shall be the sign to you from Yahweh, that Yahweh will do the thing that he has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?”

⁹ اشعیا پاسخ داد: «خداوند به تو نشانه‌ای خواهد داد تا به تو ثابت شود که او به وعدهٔ خود وفا می‌کند. حالا می‌خواهی که سایه روی پلّه‌ها ده پلّه جلو برود یا عقب؟»

¹⁰Hezekiah answered, “It is a light thing for the shadow to go forward ten steps. Nay, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.”

¹⁰ حزقیا گفت: «این آسان است که سایه را ده پلّه جلو برد، آن را ده پلّه به عقب بازگردان.»

¹¹Isaiah the prophet cried to Yahweh; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz.

¹¹ اشعیا نزد خداوند دعا کرد و خداوند سایه را ده پلّه از روی پلّه‌ای که آحاز پادشاه ساخته بود، به عقب بازگرداند.

¹²At that time Berodach Baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

¹² در آن زمان مرُودَک بَلَدان (پسر بلدان پادشاه بابل) چون شنید حزقیا بیمار است، نمایندگان خود را همراه با نامه و هدیه‌ای نزد او فرستاد.

¹³Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah didn’t show them.

¹³ حزقیا به آنها خوش‌آمد گفت و همهٔ خزانه‌ها، نقره، طلا، ادویه‌جات، عطرهای گرانبها، زرّادخانهٔ خود، هرآنچه را در انبارها یافت می‌شد و هرچه در کاخ و قلمرو او بود به آنها نشان داد.

¹⁴Then Isaiah the prophet came to king Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? From where did they come to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, even from Babylon.”

¹⁴ آنگاه اشعیای نبی نزد حزقیای پادشاه رفت و پرسید: «این مردان چه می‌گفتند؟ و از کجا آمده بودند؟» حزقیا پاسخ داد: «ایشان از سرزمینی دور آمده‌اند، از بابل.»

¹⁵He said, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.”

¹⁵ اشعیا پرسید: «ایشان در کاخ تو چه دیدند؟» حزقیا پاسخ داد: «ایشان هرآنچه را در کاخ من بود، دیدند. هیچ چیزی در انبارهای من نیست که به آنها نشان نداده باشم.»

¹⁶Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of Yahweh.

¹⁶ آنگاه اشعیا به پادشاه گفت: «خداوند قادر مطلق می‌فرماید:

¹⁷‘Behold, the days come, that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, shall be carried to Babylon. Nothing shall be left,’ says Yahweh.

¹⁷ زمانی فرا خواهد رسید که هرآنچه در کاخ توست و آنچه نیاکان تو تا به امروز ذخیره کرده بودند، به بابل حمل خواهد شد و هیچ چیز باقی نخواهند ماند.

¹⁸‘Of your sons who shall issue from you, whom you shall father, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”

¹⁸ بعضی از پسران تو را به اسارت خواهند برد، ایشان را خواجه خواهند کرد تا در کاخ پادشاه بابل خدمت کنند.»

¹⁹Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of Yahweh which you have spoken is good.” He said moreover, “Isn’t it so, if peace and truth shall be in my days?”

¹⁹ حزقیا پاسخ داد: «کلام خداوند که گفتی نیکوست.» زیرا او با خود اندیشید: «چرا که نه؟ زیرا در زمان من صلح و امنیّت برقرار خواهد بود.»

²⁰Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the city, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

²⁰ کارهای دیگر حزقیای پادشاه، شجاعتهای او و چگونگی ساختمان استخر و حفر قنات برای آوردن آب به شهر، در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا نوشته شده است. حزقیا درگذشت و پسرش منسی جانشین او شد.

²¹Hezekiah slept with his fathers; and Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
