¹Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel.

¹ موسی در ادامهٔ سخنان خود به قوم اسرائیل چنین گفت:

²He said to them, “I am one hundred twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: and Yahweh has said to me, ‘You shall not go over this Jordan.’

² «من اکنون صد و بیست ساله هستم و دیگر توان رهبری شما را ندارم به جز این، خداوند به من فرمود که من از رود اردن عبور نخواهم کرد.

³Yahweh your God, he will go over before you; he will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua shall go over before you, as Yahweh has spoken.

³ خداوند خدایتان خودش پیش از شما به آن سرزمین می‌رود و مردمانی را که در آنجا زندگی می‌کنند، نابود می‌کند تا شما بتوانید سرزمین آنها را اشغال کنید. همچنین همان‌طور که خداوند گفته است، یوشع رهبر شما خواهد شد.

⁴Yahweh will do to them as he did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land; whom he destroyed.

⁴ خداوند این مردم را نابود خواهد ساخت همان‌طور که سیحون و عوج پادشاهان اموری را شکست داد و سرزمین آنها را نابود کرد.

⁵Yahweh will deliver them up before you, and you shall do to them according to all the commandment which I have commanded you.

⁵ خداوند شما را بر آنها پیروز خواهد کرد و شما باید دقیقاً همان‌طور که فرمان داده‌ام، با آنها رفتار کنید.

⁶Be strong and courageous, don’t be afraid, nor be scared of them: for Yahweh your God, he it is who does go with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you.”

⁶ قوی و دلیر باشید، ترس و وحشت را به دلهای خود راه ندهید، زیرا خداوند خدایتان با شما خواهد بود. شما را تنها نمی‌گذارد و ترک نمی‌کند.»

⁷Moses called to Joshua, and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous: for you shall go with this people into the land which Yahweh has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it.

⁷ بعد موسی، یوشع را احضار کرده در حضور تمام قوم اسرائیل به او گفت: «قوی و دلیر باش، زیرا تو این قوم را به آن سرزمینی که خداوند به اجداد ما وعده فرموده است رهبری می‌کنی تا آنجا را متصرّف شوند.

⁸Yahweh, he it is who does go before you; he will be with you, he will not fail you, neither forsake you: don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.”

⁸ خداوند پیشاپیش تو حرکت می‌کند و همراه تو می‌باشد. او تو را تنها نمی‌گذارد و ترک نمی‌کند، پس نترس و هراسان مباش.»

⁹Moses wrote this law, and delivered it to the priests the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and to all the elders of Israel.

⁹ آنگاه موسی احکام شریعت را نوشت و به کاهنان که مسئول حمل صندوق پیمان خداوند بودند و همچنین به رهبران اسرائیل داد.

¹⁰Moses commanded them, saying, “At the end of every seven years, in the set time of the year of release, in the feast of tents,

¹⁰ و به آنها فرمود: «در پایان هر هفت سال، یعنی در سالی که قرض‌ها بخشیده می‌شوند، هنگام عید خیمه‌ها و

¹¹when all Israel has come to appear before Yahweh your God in the place which he shall choose, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

¹¹ در وقتی‌که همهٔ قوم اسرائیل در حضور خداوند در مکانی که خداوند برای پرستش خود برگزیده، جمع می‌شوند این احکام را برای آنها با صدای بلند بخوانید.

¹²Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones, and your foreigner who is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear Yahweh your God, and observe to do all the words of this law;

¹² همهٔ مردان، زنان، کودکان و بیگانگانی را که در شهرهای شما زندگی می‌کنند، گرد هم آورید تا همه بشنوند و بیاموزند و به خداوند خدایتان احترام بگذارند و از آموزشهای او با دقّت پیروی کنند.

¹³and that their children, who have not known, may hear, and learn to fear Yahweh your God, as long as you live in the land where you go over the Jordan to possess it.”

¹³ به این ترتیب فرزندان شما که هرگز قوانین خداوند خدایتان را نشنیده‌اند، آنها را خواهند شنید تا زمانی که در سرزمینی که شما تصرّف خواهید کرد، زندگی کنند خواهند آموخت که از خداوند اطاعت کنند.»

¹⁴Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, your days approach that you must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the Tent of Meeting, that I may commission him.” Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the Tent of Meeting.

¹⁴ خداوند به موسی فرمود: «وقت مرگت نزدیک شده است. یوشع را صدا بزن و با خود به خیمهٔ عبادت بیاور تا به او مأموریت بدهم.» پس موسی و یوشع به خیمهٔ عبادت رفتند.

¹⁵Yahweh appeared in the Tent in a pillar of cloud: and the pillar of cloud stood over the door of the Tent.

¹⁵ خداوند در ستون ابر ظاهر شد و پیش دروازهٔ خیمهٔ عبادت ایستاد.

¹⁶Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers; and this people will rise up, and play the prostitute after the strange gods of the land, where they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

¹⁶ خداوند به موسی فرمود: «بزودی خواهی مرد. بعد از مرگ تو این مردم در سرزمینی که می‌روند، به من خیانت می‌کنند و خدایان غیر را می‌پرستند، مرا از یاد می‌برند و پیمانی را که من با آنها بسته‌ام، می‌شکنند.

¹⁷Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come on them; so that they will say in that day, ‘Haven’t these evils come on us because our God is not among us?’

¹⁷ آنگاه در آن روز خشم من علیه آنها شعله‌ور خواهد شد و ایشان را ترک خواهم نمود و آنها نابود خواهند شد و پلیدی و دشواریهای فراوانی بر آنها فرود خواهد آمد تا در آن روز با خود بگویند 'به‌خاطر نبودن خداوند در میان ماست که دچار این پلیدیها شده‌ایم.'

¹⁸I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evil which they shall have worked, in that they are turned to other gods.

¹⁸ به سبب پلیدی و پرستش خدایان دیگر، ایشان را یاری نخواهم کرد.

¹⁹“Now therefore write this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

¹⁹ «حالا این سرود را بنویس و به مردم اسرائیل بیاموز تا این مدرکی از جانب من علیه آنها باشد.

²⁰For when I shall have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and grown fat; then will they turn to other gods, and serve them, and despise me, and break my covenant.

²⁰ من آنها را به آن سرزمینی غنی و حاصلخیز خواهم برد، همان‌طور که به اجدادشان وعده داده بودم. آنجا هرچه غذا بخواهند، خواهند داشت و به راحتی زندگی خواهند کرد امّا آنها از من روی گردانیده و خدایان دیگر را پرستش خواهند کرد. آنها مرا رد خواهند کرد و پیمان مرا خواهند شکست.

²¹It shall happen, when many evils and troubles have come on them, that this song shall testify before them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they frame this day, before I have brought them into the land which I swore.”

²¹ به مصیبت‌های وحشتناکی دچار خواهند شد. امّا این سرود هنوز خوانده خواهد شد و مدرکی علیه ایشان خواهد بود. حتّی قبل از اینکه من آنها را به سرزمینی که به آنها وعده دادم، ببرم، از افکار ایشان آگاهم.»

²²So Moses wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.

²² در همان روز موسی این سرود را نوشت و به قوم اسرائیل آموخت.

²³He commissioned Joshua the son of Nun, and said, “Be strong and courageous; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I swore to them: and I will be with you.”

²³ سپس خداوند به یوشع پسر نون فرمود: «قوی و دلیر باش، زیرا تو قوم اسرائیل را به سرزمینی که به آنها وعده دادم، هدایت می‌کنی و من همراه تو خواهم بود.»

²⁴It happened, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,

²⁴ هنگامی‌که موسی نوشتن همهٔ قوانین را در کتاب به پایان رساند،

²⁵that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, saying,

²⁵ به لاویانی که مسئول حمل صندوق پیمان خداوند بودند گفت:

²⁶“Take this book of the law, and put it by the side of the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your God, that it may be there for a witness against you.

²⁶ «این کتاب را که حاوی احکام شریعت است بگیرید و در کنار صندوق پیمان خداوند خدایتان قرار دهید تا هشداری برای قوم اسرائیل باشد.

²⁷For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against Yahweh; and how much more after my death?

²⁷ زیرا می‌دانم آنها چقدر سرسخت و سرکش هستند. اگر حالا که زنده در کنار آنها هستم، چنین سرکشی می‌کنند، وای به حال زمانی که بمیرم.

²⁸Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them.

²⁸ حالا تمام ریش‌سفیدان و رهبران قوم را جمع کنید تا این سخنان را به آنها بگویم و آسمان و زمین را بر آنها شاهد بگیرم.

²⁹For I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will happen to you in the latter days; because you will do that which is evil in the sight of Yahweh, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.”

²⁹ می‌دانم پس از مرگ من، مردم شرور خواهند شد و آنچه را به آنها آموخته‌ام رد خواهند کرد، و آنها در آینده با دشواریها روبه‌رو خواهند شد زیرا آنچه را در نظر خداوند پلید است، بجا می‌آورند و خداوند را خشمگین خواهند کرد.» سپس موسی تمام این سرود را برای همهٔ مردم اسرائیل خواند و آنها به او گوش فرا دادند.

³⁰Moses spoke in the ears of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were finished.
