¹On that day, King Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman, the Jews’ enemy, to Esther the queen. Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was to her.

¹ در همان روز پادشاه تمام دارایی و اموال هامان، دشمن یهودیان را به استر ملکه بخشید. استر به پادشاه گفت که مردخای از خویشاوندان اوست. از آن به بعد مردخای اجازه یافت به حضور پادشاه برود.

²The king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

² پادشاه انگشتر خود را که مُهرش نیز بر آن قرار داشت (که از هامان پس گرفته بود) از انگشت خود بیرون آورد و به مردخای داد. استر مردخای را مسئول اموال هامان نمود.

³Esther spoke yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and begged him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

³ استر برای بار دوم بر پاهای پادشاه افتاد و با گریه و زاری از پادشاه درخواست کرد تا نقشهٔ شوم هامان اجاجی علیه یهودیان را متوقّف سازد.

⁴Then the king held out to Esther the golden scepter. So Esther arose, and stood before the king.

⁴ پادشاه عصای طلای خود را به طرف او دراز کرد، و او برخاست و گفت:

⁵She said, “If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight, and the thing seem right to the king, and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces.

⁵ «اگر اعلیحضرت صلاح می‌دانند و اگر من مورد لطفشان واقع شده‌ام، خواهش می‌کنم فرمانی صادر فرمایند تا از اجرای نقشهٔ هامان پسر همداتای اجاجی، برای نابودی یهودیان در تمام استانها، جلوگیری شود.

⁶For how can I endure to see the evil that would come to my people? How can I endure to see the destruction of my relatives?”

⁶ چطور می‌توانم شاهد مرگ و نابودی اقوام و خویشاوندان خود باشم؟»

⁷Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, “See, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged on the gallows, because he laid his hand on the Jews.

⁷ خشایارشاه به استر ملکه و مردخای یهودی گفت: «دیدید که من هامان را به‌خاطر توطئه‌اش به ضد یهودیان دار زدم و اموال و دارایی او را به استر بخشیدم.

⁸Write also to the Jews, as it pleases you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring; for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may not be reversed by any man.”

⁸ امّا فرمانی که به نام پادشاه و مُهر سلطنتی صادر شده باشد، لغو شدنی نیست. در هر حال، شما می‌توانید هرچه که بخواهید به یهودیان در همه‌جا بنویسید و می‌توانید حکمی به نام من و با مُهر سلطنتی ممهور کرده بفرستید.»

⁹Then the king’s scribes were called at that time, in the third month Sivan, on the twenty-third day of the month; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews, and to the satraps, and the governors and princes of the provinces which are from India to Ethiopia, one hundred twenty-seven provinces, to every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language, and to the Jews in their writing, and in their language.

⁹ پس مردخای در روز بیست و سومِ ماه سوم، یعنی ماه سیوان، مُنشیان پادشاه را احضار کرد و حکمی را که خودش نوشته بود، برای یهودیان، حاکمان، والیان و مأموران دولتی در تمام یکصد و بیست و هفت استان از هندوستان تا حبشه فرستاد. آن حکم به خط و زبان محلی هر استان، و همچنین به خط و زبان خود یهودیان نوشته شد.

¹⁰He wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by courier on horseback, riding on royal horses that were bread from swift steeds.

¹⁰ مردخای فرمان را به اسم خشایارشاه نوشت و با انگشتر سلطنتی مُهر کرد و آن را به وسیلهٔ قاصدانی که بر سریعترین اسبها سوار بودند، فرستاد.

¹¹In those letters, the king granted the Jews who were in every city to gather themselves together, and to defend their life, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, their little ones and women, and to plunder their possessions,

¹¹ طبق این فرمان یهودیان از جانب پادشاه اجازه داشتند در هر شهری برای دفاع از خود متّحد شوند. اگر افراد مسلّح از هر ملّتی یا هر ناحیه‌ای به یهودیان و زن و فرزندانشان حمله نمایند، آنها حق دارند دشمنان خود را بکشند و اموالشان را تصاحب کنند.

¹²on one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

¹² روزی که برای این کار تعیین شد، همان روزی بود که برای کشتار یهودیان در نظر گرفته شده بود، یعنی روز سیزدهم ماه ادار که دوازدهمین ماه سال است.

¹³A copy of the letter, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published to all the peoples, that the Jews should be ready for that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

¹³ قرار بر این شد که این فرمان به صورت یک اعلامیه در تمام نواحی به اطّلاع همه برسد تا یهودیان بتوانند برای انتقام از دشمنان خود در آن روز آماده باشند.

¹⁴So the couriers who rode on royal horses went out, hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. The decree was given out in the citadel of Susa.

¹⁴ به فرمان پادشاه قاصدان سوار بر اسب شدند و با سرعت تمام حرکت کردند. این فرمان در پایتخت، یعنی در شهر شوش نیز به اطّلاع عموم رسانده شد.

¹⁵Mordecai went out of the presence of the king in royal clothing of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a robe of fine linen and purple; and the city of Susa shouted and was glad.

¹⁵ مردخای در حالی کاخ را ترک کرد که ردایی شاهانه به رنگ سفید و آبی و با ردایی کتانی با سفید و بنفش زیبا در بر داشت و تاج طلای باشکوهی بر سر نهاده بود. آنگاه فریادهای شادی مردم در تمام جاده‌های شهر شوش بلند بود.

¹⁶The Jews had light, gladness, joy, and honor.

¹⁶ یهودیان به‌خاطر این موفقیّت احساس خوشی و آرامش می‌کردند. در هر شهر و استانی که فرمان پادشاه قرائت می‌شد، یهودیان با خوشی و سرور آن روز را جشن می‌گرفتند. در این موقع بسیاری از مردم از ترسِ یهودیان، به آیین آنان گرویدند.

¹⁷In every province, and in every city, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had gladness, joy, a feast, and a good day. Many from among the peoples of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews was fallen on them.

¹⁷ در هر شهر و استانی که فرمان پادشاه قرائت می‌شد، یهودیان با خوشی و سرور آن روز را جشن می‌گرفتند. در این موقع بسیاری از مردم از ترسِ یهودیان، به آیین آنان گرویدند.
