¹“If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and kills it, or sells it; he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

¹ «اگر کسی گاو یا گوسفندی را بدزد و آن را بکشد یا بفروشد، باید در عوض هر گاو، پنج گاو و در عوض هر گوسفند، چهار گوسفند بدهد.

²If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him.

² او باید هرچه دزدیده، جریمهٔ آن را بدهد. اگر چیزی ندارد که جریمه بدهد، خود او را به عنوان غلام بفروشند تا با پول آن جریمه‌اش را بپردازد. حیوان دزدیده شده را، چه گاو باشد چه الاغ چه گوسفند، اگر زنده در دست او گرفتند باید دو برابر آن جریمه بدهد. اگر دزدی در هنگام شب، در موقع دزدی کشته ‌شود، کسی‌که او را کشته جرمی ‌ندارد. امّا اگر این اتّفاق هنگام روز بیفتد، کسی‌که او را بکشد، قاتل محسوب می‌شود.

³If the sun has risen on him, guilt of bloodshed shall be for him; he shall make restitution. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

³ «اگر کسی اجازه می‌دهد که حیواناتش در مزرعه یا تاکستان کس دیگری بچرند، باید از بهترین محصول تاکستان یا مزرعه خود تاوان آن را پس بدهد.

⁴If the stolen property is found in his hand alive, whether it is ox, donkey, or sheep, he shall pay double.

⁴ «اگر کسی در مزرعه خود آتش روشن کند تا علفهای هرز را بسوزاند و آتش به مزرعه شخص دیگری سرایت کند و خوشه‌های غلّه را که رسیده و یا درو شده است بسوزاند، کسی‌که آتش روشن کرده، باید خسارات آن را جبران کند.

⁵“If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten, and lets his animal loose, and it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field, and from the best of his own vineyard.

⁵ «اگر کسی پول و یا اموال قیمتی خود را به طور امانت به کسی بسپارد ولی آنها از خانهٔ آن شخص دزدیده شود، اگر دزد را پیدا کردند، دزد باید دو برابر آن را پس بدهد.

⁶“If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

⁶ امّا اگر دزد پیدا نشد، آن شخصی‌ که اموال نزد او بوده، باید به عبادتگاه برود و در آنجا قسم بخورد که اموال امانت‌گزار را ندزدیده است.

⁷“If a man delivers to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief is found, he shall pay double.

⁷ «در موقع خیانت در امانت چه در مورد گاو، الاغ، گوسفند و چه لباس و هر چیز دیگر که کسی ادّعای آن را می‌کند، هر دو نفر را به عبادتگاه ببرند و کسی‌که در حضور خدا مقصّر شناخته ‌شود دو برابر خسارت بدهد.

⁸If the thief isn’t found, then the master of the house shall come near to God, to find out if he hasn’t put his hand to his neighbor’s goods.

⁸ «اگر کسی الاغ، گاو، گوسفند یا هر حیوان دیگری را از همسایهٔ خود امانت بگیرد ولی آن حیوان بمیرد یا صدمه ببیند و یا بزور از او گرفته شود و شاهدی هم نباشد،

⁹For every matter of trespass, whether it be for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any kind of lost thing, about which one says, ‘This is mine,’ the cause of both parties shall come before God. He whom God condemns shall pay double to his neighbor.

⁹ آن شخص باید به عبادتگاه برود و قسم بخورد که اموال همسایهٔ خود را ندزدیده است. در این صورت مالک حیوان قسم او را قبول کند و عوض آن را نگیرد.

¹⁰“If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies or is injured, or driven away, no man seeing it;

¹⁰ امّا اگر حیوان را از او دزدیده باشند، باید تاوان آن را پس بدهد.

¹¹the oath of Yahweh shall be between them both, whether he hasn’t put his hand to his neighbor’s goods; and its owner shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.

¹¹ اگر حیوانی توسط حیوان وحشی کشته شده باشد، باقیمانده‌اش را به عنوان مدرک نزد صاحبش بیاورد و دیگر لازم نیست که تاوان پس بدهد.

¹²But if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution to its owner.

¹² «اگر کسی حیوانی را از همسایهٔ خود قرض گرفت و در غیاب صاحبش آسیبی به آن حیوان رسید و یا مرد، او باید به همسایه‌اش تاوان آن را بدهد.

¹³If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for evidence. He shall not make good that which was torn.

¹³ ولی اگر در مقابل صاحبش بوده، لازم نیست که خسارت آن را جبران کند. اگر آن حیوان را کرایه کرده بود، کرایه‌ای که داده شده به عوض تاوان آن می‌باشد.

¹⁴“If a man borrows anything of his neighbor’s, and it is injured, or dies, its owner not being with it, he shall surely make restitution.

¹⁴ «اگر کسی دختری را که نامزد او نیست فریب بدهد و به او تجاوز کند، باید مهریه‌اش را به او پرداخته و با او ازدواج نماید.

¹⁵If its owner is with it, he shall not make it good. If it is a leased thing, it came for its lease.

¹⁵ اگر پدر دختر راضی نبود که دختر را به او بدهد، بازهم باید مهریهٔ یک دختر را به او بدهد.

¹⁶“If a man entices a virgin who isn’t pledged to be married, and lies with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife.

¹⁶ «زن جادوگر را زنده نگذارید.

¹⁷If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

¹⁷ «هرکس که با حیوانی جماع کند باید کشته شود.

¹⁸“You shall not allow a sorceress to live.

¹⁸ «هرکس برای خدای دیگری به غیراز من که خداوند هستم قربانی بگذراند، باید به مرگ محكوم شود.

¹⁹“Whoever has sex with an animal shall surely be put to death.

¹⁹ «کسی را که غریب است اذیّت نکنید.

²⁰“He who sacrifices to any god, except to Yahweh only, shall be utterly destroyed.

²⁰ بر او ظلم منمایید. به‌خاطر بیاورید که شما هم در سرزمین مصر غریب بودید.

²¹“You shall not wrong an alien, neither shall you oppress him, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.

²¹ بر بیوه‌زن یا یتیم ظلم نکنید. اگر بر او ظلم کنید و او نزد من فریاد برآورد و کمک بخواهد، دعای او را مستجاب خواهم کرد.

²²“You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child.

²² و من خشمگین شده، شما را با شمشیر خواهم کشت تا زنهای شما بیوه و فرزندانتان یتیم گردند.

²³If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry;

²³ «اگر به فقیری از افراد قوم من، پولی قرض دادید، مثل نزول‌خواران از او بهره نگیرید.

²⁴and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

²⁴ اگر ردای همسایهٔ خود را به عنوان گرو گرفتید، قبل از غروب آفتاب آن را به او پس بدهید.

²⁵“If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor; neither shall you charge him interest.

²⁵ چون این تنها ردایی است که او خود را با آن گرم می‌کند و با آن می‌خوابد. اگر او نزد من دعا و زاری کند، دعای او را مستجاب خواهم کرد، زیرا من خدای کریم هستم.

²⁶If you take your neighbor’s garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down,

²⁶ «به خدا ناسزا مگویید. رهبر قوم خود را لعنت نکنید.

²⁷for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.

²⁷ «در دادن هدیهٔ نوبر محصول و شیرهٔ انگور خود تأخیر نکنید. «نخستزاده‌هایتان را که پسر هستند برای من وقف نمایید.

²⁸“You shall not blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people.

²⁸ نخستزادهٔ گاو و گوسفند خود را به من بدهید، اولین نخستزادهٔ نر را هفت روز نزد مادرش نگه‌دارید و در روز هشتم آن را به من تقدیم کنید. «شما قوم من هستید، پس نباید گوشت حیوانی را که توسط حیوانات وحشی دریده شده باشد، بخورید. آن را نزد سگها بیندازید.

²⁹“You shall not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. “You shall give the firstborn of your sons to me.

²⁹ «شما قوم من هستید، پس نباید گوشت حیوانی را که توسط حیوانات وحشی دریده شده باشد، بخورید. آن را نزد سگها بیندازید.

³⁰You shall do likewise with your cattle and with your sheep. Seven days it shall be with its mother, then on the eighth day you shall give it to me.

³¹“You shall be holy men to me, therefore you shall not eat any flesh that is torn by animals in the field. You shall cast it to the dogs.
