¹He said to Moses, “Come up to Yahweh, you, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship from a distance.

¹ خداوند به موسی فرمود: «تو و هارون، ناداب و ابیهو و هفتاد نفر از رهبران اسرائیل بر بالای کوه به نزد من بیایید و از فاصلهٔ دور مرا سجده کنید.

²Moses alone shall come near to Yahweh, but they shall not come near, neither shall the people go up with him.”

² تو تنها نزدیک من بیا و دیگران نزدیک نشوند. قوم حتّی روی کوه هم نیایند.»

³Moses came and told the people all the words of Yahweh, and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, “All the words which Yahweh has spoken will we do.”

³ پس موسی آمد و تمام سخنان خداوند و همهٔ احکامی ‌را که فرموده بود، برای قوم بیان کرد. تمام قوم با هم جواب دادند: «ما هرچه را که خداوند فرموده است، انجام خواهیم داد.»

⁴Moses wrote all the words of Yahweh, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.

⁴ موسی تمام دستورات خداوند را نوشت و صبح روز بعد برخاست و در پایین کوه قربانگاهی درست کرد و دوازده ستون به نشانهٔ دوازده طایفهٔ اسرائیل در آنجا قرار داد.

⁵He sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of cattle to Yahweh.

⁵ سپس چند نفر از جوانان را فرستاد و آنها قربانی‌های سوختنی گذرانیدند و برای پرستش خداوند گاوها را قربانی کردند.

⁶Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

⁶ بعد از آن موسی نصف خون قربانی‌ها را برداشت و در کاسه ریخت و نصف دیگر را در روی قربانگاه پاشید.

⁷He took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people, and they said, “All that Yahweh has spoken will we do, and be obedient.”

⁷ سپس کتاب پیمان را برداشت و آن را با صدای بلند برای مردم خواند. آنها گفتند: «ما از خداوند اطاعت می‌کنیم و هرچه فرموده است، انجام خواهیم داد.»

⁸Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, “Look, this is the blood of the covenant, which Yahweh has made with you concerning all these words.”

⁸ موسی خونی را که در کاسه ریخته بود برداشت و بر روی مردم پاشید و گفت: «این خون پیمانی را که خداوند هنگام دادن فرامینش با شما بست، تأیید می‌کند.»

⁹Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up.

⁹ موسی با هارون، ناداب، ابیهو و هفتاد نفر از رهبران اسرائیل به بالای کوه رفتند.

¹⁰They saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was like a paved work of sapphire or, lapis lazuli stone, like the skies for clearness.

¹⁰ و خدای بنی‌اسرائیل را دیدند که زیر پاهایش مانند فرشی از یاقوت کبود، شفاف و آبی همچون آسمان بود.

¹¹He didn’t lay his hand on the nobles of the children of Israel. They saw God, and ate and drank.

¹¹ ولی خدا دست خود را بر بزرگان بنی‌اسرائیل دراز نکرد. آنها خدا را دیدند، سپس با یکدیگر خوردند و نوشیدند.

¹²Yahweh said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain, and stay here, and I will give you the tables of stone with the law and the commands that I have written, that you may teach them.”

¹² خداوند به موسی فرمود: «بر بالای کوه به نزد من بیا و در اینجا بمان تا لوح‌های سنگی را که تمام قوانینی که باید به قوم تعلیم دهی در آن نوشته‌ام، به تو بدهم.»

¹³Moses rose up with Joshua, his servant, and Moses went up onto God’s Mountain.

¹³ پس موسی با معاونش یوشع، آماده شدند و موسی به بالای کوه مقدّس رفت.

¹⁴He said to the elders, “Wait here for us, until we come again to you. Behold, Aaron and Hur are with you. Whoever is involved in a dispute can go to them.”

¹⁴ موسی به رهبران قوم گفت: «شما در اینجا منتظر بمانید تا ما بازگردیم. هارون و حور پیش شما هستند و هرکس که مشکلی دارد به نزد آنها برود.»

¹⁵Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.

¹⁵ وقتی موسی بالای کوه سینا رفت، ابر آن را پوشانید

¹⁶The glory of Yahweh settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. The seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

¹⁶ و روشنایی خیره‌کننده‌ای که نشانهٔ حضور خداوند بود، کوه را فراگرفت. ابر مدّت شش روز آن را پوشانده بود و در روز هفتم، خداوند موسی را از میان ابرها صدا کرد.

¹⁷The appearance of the glory of Yahweh was like devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.

¹⁷ روشنایی حضور خداوند در نظر بنی‌اسرائیل مانند آتش سوزانی بر قلّهٔ کوه بود. موسی به میان ابرها داخل شد. به بالای کوه رفت و مدّت چهل شبانه‌روز در کوه ماند.

¹⁸Moses entered into the midst of the cloud, and went up on the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

¹⁸ موسی به میان ابرها داخل شد. به بالای کوه رفت و مدّت چهل شبانه‌روز در کوه ماند.
