¹The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

¹ خداوند به من فرمود:

²Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and drop your word toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel;

² «ای انسان فانی، به سوی اورشلیم رو کن و علیه معابد آن موعظه کن و علیه سرزمین اسرائیل نبوّت نما.

³and tell the land of Israel, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.

³ به سرزمین اسرائیل بگو، خداوند چنین می‌فرماید: من دشمن شما هستم، شمشیر خود را از نیام بیرون می‌کشم و تمام انسانهای خوب و شریر تو را خواهم کشت.

⁴Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:

⁴ من شمشیر خود را علیه همه از جنوب تا شمال برخواهم کشید.

⁵and all flesh shall know that I, Yahweh, have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more.

⁵ تا همه بدانند که من، خداوند شمشیرم را از نیام کشیده‌ام و دوباره در نیام نخواهد رفت.

⁶Sigh therefore, you son of man; with the breaking of your thighs and with bitterness you will sigh before their eyes.

⁶ «پس ای انسان فانی، زاری کن. با قلبی شکسته و اندوهی تلخ در برابر چشمان ایشان زاری کن.

⁷It shall be, when they tell you, Why do you sigh? that you shall say, Because of the news, for it comes; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says the Lord Yahweh.

⁷ هنگامی‌که از تو می‌پرسند چرا زاری می‌کنی، بگو به‌خاطر اخبار رسیده، همهٔ قلبها پریشان، دستها ناتوان، روحیه‌ها ضعیف و زانوان لرزان خواهند شد. بنگرید، چنین خواهد شد و به وقوع خواهد پیوست. من، خداوند متعال سخن گفته‌ام.»

⁸The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

⁸ خداوند به من فرمود:

⁹Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says Yahweh: Say, A sword, a sword, it is sharpened, and also furbished;

⁹ «ای انسان فانی، نبوّت کن و بگو: «یک شمشیر، شمشیری تیز و برّاق شده،

¹⁰it is sharpened that it may make a slaughter; it is furbished that it may be as lightning: shall we then make mirth? the rod of my son, it condemns every tree.

¹⁰ شمشیری تیز شده برای کشتار، صیقل شده تا چون آذرخش بدرخشد، چگونه می‌توان شادمان بود؟ زیرا قوم من همهٔ هشدارها و مجازاتها را ندیده گرفته‌اند.

¹¹It is given to be furbished, that it may be handled: the sword, it is sharpened, yes, it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the killer.

¹¹ شمشیر صیقل داده شده است تا آن را به دست گیرند. آن تیز شده و صیقل داده شده است تا به دست کشتار کننده‌ای سپرده شود.

¹²Cry and wail, son of man; for it is on my people, it is on all the princes of Israel: they are delivered over to the sword with my people; strike therefore on your thigh.

¹² گریه و زاری کن، ای انسان فانی، زیرا این شمشیر برای قوم من، و برای تمام رهبران قوم اسرائیل است. ایشان همه با بقیّهٔ قوم من کشته خواهند شد از ناامیدی بر سینه‌های خود بکوبید.

¹³For there is a trial; and what if even the rod that condemns shall be no more? says the Lord Yahweh.

¹³ من قوم خود را می‌آزمایم و اگر نپذیرند که توبه کنند، همهٔ این وقایع رخ خواهند داد.

¹⁴You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike your hands together; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the deadly wounded: it is the sword of the great one who is deadly wounded, which enters into their rooms.

¹⁴ «اینک ای انسان فانی، نبوّت کن. دستهای خود را به هم بزن و شمشیر پی‌درپی خواهد زد. این شمشیری است که می‌کشد. شمشیری برای کشتاری بزرگ که ایشان را محاصره خواهد کرد.

¹⁵I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied: ah! it is made as lightning, it is pointed for slaughter.

¹⁵ بنابراین دلها آب می‌شوند و بسیاری در همهٔ دروازه‌هایشان خواهند افتاد، من شمشیر درخشنده را داده‌ام. آه، آن چون آذرخش ساخته شده است و برای کشتار صیقلی گشته است.

¹⁶Gather yourselves together, go to the right, set yourselves in array, go to the left, wherever your face is set.

¹⁶ به راست یورش آور، به چپ حمله کن، ای شمشیر تیز به هر سویی که می‌چرخی حمله کن.

¹⁷I will also strike my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest: I, Yahweh, have spoken it.

¹⁷ من نیز دستهای خود را به هم خواهم زد و خشم خود را فرو خواهم نشاند. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

¹⁸The word of Yahweh came to me again, saying,

¹⁸ خداوند به من فرمود:

¹⁹Also, you son of man, appoint two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come; they both shall come forth out of one land: and mark out a place, mark it out at the head of the way to the city.

¹⁹ «ای انسان فانی، دو جاده را برای شمشیر پادشاه بابل که می‌آید علامت‌گذاری کن، هردوی آنها باید از یک سرزمین آغاز گردند. علامتی در آنجایی که جاده دو راهی می‌شود، قرار ده.

²⁰You shall appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified.

²⁰ برای آمدن شمشیر به ربه در سرزمین عمون و به یهودا و شهر مستحکم اورشلیم، جاده‌‌ها را علامت‌گذاری کن.

²¹For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shook the arrows back and forth, he consulted the teraphim, he looked in the liver.

²¹ زیرا پادشاه بابل بر سر دوراهی می‌ایستد و با تکان دادن تیرها قرعه می‌اندازد. از بُتهای خود هدایت می‌طلبد و با جگرِ قربانی فال می‌گیرد که به کدام راه باید برود.

²²In his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to set battering rams, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up mounds, to build forts.

²² در دست راست او قرعه اورشلیم است تا دژکوب‌ها را برافرازند تا غریو نبرد برآورند و دژکوب‌ها را علیه دروازه‌ها بگذارند و خاکریزها را بالا آورند و بُرجها را محاصره سازند.

²³It shall be to them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths to them; but he brings iniquity to memory, that they may be taken.

²³ اهالی اورشلیم این را باور نمی‌کنند، زیرا با بابل پیمان صلح بسته‌اند، امّا این پیشگویی، آنها را متوجّه گناهانشان می‌سازد و به آنها خاطرنشان می‌کند که بزودی گرفتار می‌شوند.

²⁴Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because you have come to memory, you shall be taken with the hand.

²⁴ بنابراین من، خداوند متعال می‌گویم، گناهان شما آشکار شده‌اند، همه می‌دانند شما چقدر مقصّر هستید. گناهانتان را در هر عملی نشان می‌دهید، مقصّر هستید و من شما را به دست دشمنانتان خواهم سپرد.

²⁵You, deadly wounded wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day has come, in the time of the iniquity of the end,

²⁵ «ای فرمانروای پلید و فرومایهٔ اسرائیل، روز تو، روز مجازات نهایی تو رسیده است.

²⁶thus says the Lord Yahweh: Remove the turban, and take off the crown; this shall be no more the same; exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high.

²⁶ دستار و تاج خود را بردار، زیرا پس از این، اوضاع دگرگون می‌گردد. آنچه را که پست است، برافراز و آنچه را که بلند است، پست نما.

²⁷I will overturn, overturn, overturn it: this also shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

²⁷ ویران! ویران! آری، شهر را ویران می‌کنم. امّا تا زمانی که کسی را که برای مجازات شهر برگزیده‌ام نیاید، چنین واقع نخواهد شد. به او آن را خواهم داد.

²⁸You, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;

²⁸ «ای انسان فانی، نبوّت کن. اعلام کن که من، خداوند متعال درباره عمونیان و سخنان ناسزای ایشان چنین می‌گویم: «'شمشیر، شمشیری برای کشتن کشیده شده است، صیقلی شده است تا چون آذرخش بدرخشد.

²⁹while they see for you false visions, while they divine lies to you, to lay you on the necks of the wicked who are deadly wounded, whose day has come in the time of the iniquity of the end.

²⁹ رؤیاهایی که می‌بینید نادرست و پیشگویی‌های شما دروغ هستند، شما پلید و شریر هستید. زمان شما فرا می‌رسد؛ روز پایانی، شمشیر بر گردن شما فرود خواهد آمد.

³⁰Cause it to return into its sheath. In the place where you were created, in the land of your birth, will I judge you.

³⁰ «'شمشیر را در نیام بگذارید! در مکانی که آفریده شدی، در زادگاهتان داوری خواهید شد.

³¹I will pour out my indignation on you; I will blow on you with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver you into the hand of brutish men, skillful to destroy.

³¹ خشم خود را بر تو فرو خواهم ریخت و آتش غضب خود را بر تو خواهم دمید. تو را به دستهای خشن کسانی‌که در کشتن ماهر هستند، خواهم سپرد. شما با آتش نابود می‌گردید و خونتان در سرزمین‌تان خواهد ریخت و دیگر کسی شما را به یاد نخواهد آورد. زیرا من که خداوند هستم چنین می‌گویم.'»

³²You shall be for fuel to the fire; your blood shall be in the midst of the land; you shall be remembered no more: for I, Yahweh, have spoken it.

³² شما با آتش نابود می‌گردید و خونتان در سرزمین‌تان خواهد ریخت و دیگر کسی شما را به یاد نخواهد آورد. زیرا من که خداوند هستم چنین می‌گویم.'»
