در ابتدا، خدا آسمانها و زمین را آفرید.
2Now the earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep. God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.

زمین خالی و بدون شكل بود. همهجا آب بود و تاریكی آن را پوشانده بود و روح خدا بر روی آبها حركت میكرد.
3God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

خدا فرمود: «روشنایی بشود» و روشنایی شد.
4God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness.

خدا از دیدن روشنایی خشنود شد و روشنایی را از تاریكی جدا كرد.
5God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” There was evening and there was morning, one day.

خدا روشنایی را روز و تاریكی را شب نام گذاشت. شب گذشت و صبح فرا رسید، این بود روز اول.
6God said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

خدا فرمود: «فلکی ساخته شود تا آبها را از یكدیگر جدا كند.»
7God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.

خدا فلک را ساخت و آبهای زیر فلک را از آبهای بالای فلک جدا كرد.
8God called the expanse “sky.” There was evening and there was morning, a second day.

خدا فلک را آسمان نامید. شب گذشت و صبح فرا رسید، این بود روز دوم.
9God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.

خدا فرمود: «آبهای زیر آسمان در یکجا جمع شوند تا خشكی ظاهر گردد» و چنان شد.
10God called the dry land “earth,” and the gathering together of the waters he called “seas.” God saw that it was good.

خدا خشكی را زمین نامید و آبها را كه در یکجا جمع بودند دریا نام گذاشت. خدا از دیدن آنچه انجام شده بود، خشنود شد.
11God said, “Let the earth yield grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with its seed in it, on the earth”; and it was so.

سپس خدا فرمود: «زمین همه نوع گیاه برویاند، گیاهانی كه دانه بیاورند و گیاهانی كه میوه بیاورند» و چنین شد.
12The earth yielded grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with its seed in it, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.

پس زمین همه نوع گیاه رویانید و خدا از دیدن آنچه انجام شده بود، خشنود شد.
13There was evening and there was morning, a third day.

شب گذشت و صبح فرا رسید، این بود روز سوم.
14God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years;

بعد از آن خدا فرمود: «اجرام نورانی در آسمان به وجود آیند تا روز را از شب جدا كنند و روزها، سالها و فصلها را نشان دهند.
15and let them be for lights in the expanse of sky to give light on the earth”; and it was so.
15
آنها در آسمان بدرخشند تا بر زمین روشنایی دهند.» و چنین شد.
16God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars.

پس از آن، خدا دو جرم نورانی بزرگ ساخت، یكی خورشید برای سلطنت در روز و یكی ماه برای سلطنت در شب. همچنین ستارگان را ساخت.
17God set them in the expanse of sky to give light to the earth,

آنها را در آسمان قرار داد تا بر زمین روشنایی دهند
18and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good.

و بر روز و شب سلطنت نمایند و روشنایی را از تاریكی جدا كنند. خدا، از دیدن آنچه شده بود، خشنود شد.
19There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

شب گذشت و صبح فرا رسید، این بود روز چهارم.
20God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of sky.”

پس از آن خدا فرمود: «آبها از انواع جانوران و آسمان از انواع پرندگان پُر شوند.»
21God created the large sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good.

پس، خدا جانداران بزرگ دریایی و همهٔ جانورانی كه در آب زندگی میكنند و تمام پرندگان آسمان را آفرید. خدا از دیدن آنچه كرده بود، خشنود شد
22God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

و همهٔ آنها را بركت داد و فرمود تا بارور شوند و دریا را پُر سازند و به پرندگان فرمود: «بارور و كثیر شوید.»
23There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.

شب گذشت و صبح فرا رسید، این بود روز پنجم.
24God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind”; and it was so.

بعد از آن، خدا فرمود: «زمین همه نوع حیوانات به وجود آورد، اهلی و وحشی، بزرگ و كوچک» و چنین شد.
25God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good.

پس خدا، همهٔ آنها را ساخت و از دیدن آنچه انجام شده بود، خشنود شد.
26God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

پس از آن خدا فرمود: «اینک انسان را بسازیم. ایشان مثل ما و شبیه ما باشند و بر ماهیان دریا و پرندگان آسمان و همهٔ حیوانات اهلی و وحشی، بزرگ و كوچک و بر تمام زمین حكومت كنند.»
27God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.

پس خدا انسان را شبیه خود آفرید. ایشان را زن و مرد آفرید.
28God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

آنها را بركت داد و فرمود: «بارور و كثیر شوید. نسل شما در تمام زمین زندگی كند و آن را تحت تسلّط خود درآورد. من شما را بر ماهیان و پرندگان و تمام حیوانات وحشی میگمارم.
29God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.

هر نوع گیاهی كه غلاّت و دانه بیاورد و هر نوع گیاهی كه میوه بیاورد برای شما آماده كردهام تا بخورید.
30To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.

امّا هر نوع علف سبز را برای خوراک تمام حیوانات و پرندگان آماده كردهام.» و چنین شد.
خدا از دیدن تمام كارهایی كه انجام شده بود، بسیار خشنود گشت. شب گذشت و صبح فرا رسید. این بود روز ششم.
31God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
