¹Jacob called to his sons, and said: “Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which will happen to you in the days to come.

¹ یعقوب ‌پسران ‌خود را صدا كرد و گفت‌: «دور من‌ جمع ‌شوید تا به‌ شما بگویم‌ كه‌ در آینده‌ چه ‌اتّفاقی برای شما خواهد افتاد.

²Assemble yourselves, and hear, you sons of Jacob. Listen to Israel, your father.

² «ای پسران‌ یعقوب ‌دور هم‌ جمع‌ شوید و به ‌سخنان‌ پدرتان اسرائیل‌ گوش ‌بدهید:

³“Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength; excelling in dignity, and excelling in power.

³ «رئوبین‌، پسر بزرگ ‌من‌، تو قدرت‌ من‌ و اولین‌ ثمر دوران ‌شجاعت‌ من ‌هستی‌. از همهٔ پسران ‌من ‌سرافرازتر و سربلندتری

⁴Boiling over as water, you shall not excel; because you went up to your father’s bed, then defiled it. He went up to my couch.

⁴ تو مانند موجهای خروشان‌ دریایی ولی خیلی بزرگ‌ نخواهی شد، زیرا با زن ‌صیغه‌ای من‌ همخواب ‌شدی و به ‌بستر من ‌بی‌احترامی كردی‌.

⁵“Simeon and Levi are brothers. Their swords are weapons of violence.

⁵ «شمعون ‌و لاوی مانند یكدیگرند. آنها شمشیرهای خود را برای ظلم ‌بكار می‌برند.

⁶My soul, don’t come into their council. My glory, don’t be united to their assembly; for in their anger they killed men. In their self-will they hamstrung cattle.

⁶ در گفت‌وگوهای محرمانهٔ آنها شركت‌ نخواهم‌ كرد و هرگز در محفل ‌آنان ‌نخواهم ‌بود، زیرا ایشان ‌مردم‌ را در حالت‌ غضب‌ كشتند و برای سرگرمی خود گاوها را لنگ نمودند.

⁷Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

⁷ لعنت‌ بر خشم‌ آنها، زیرا خشمشان‌ بسیار وحشتناک‌ است‌. لعنت‌ بر غضب ‌آنها، چون ‌در حالت ‌غضب ‌بسیار بی‌رحم‌ می‌شوند. من‌ ایشان‌ را در سرزمین‌ اسرائیل‌ متفرق‌ و در میان ‌مردمانش ‌پراكنده‌ خواهم كرد.

⁸“Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father’s sons will bow down before you.

⁸ «ای یهودا، برادران ‌تو، تو را ستایش‌ خواهند كرد. بر دشمنان ‌خود غلبه‌ خواهی داشت‌، و برادرانت ‌در مقابل‌ تو تعظیم‌ خواهند كرد.

⁹Judah is a lion’s cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, as a lioness. Who will rouse him up?

⁹ یهودا، مانند شیری است ‌كه‌ شكار خود را كشته‌ و به ‌كمینگاه‌ خویش ‌برگشته‌، دراز كشیده ‌و خوابیده ‌و هیچ‌كس‌ جرأت‌ نمی‌كند او را برخیزاند.

¹⁰The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. To him will the obedience of the peoples be.

¹⁰ یهودا، عصای سلطنت ‌را نگاه‌ خواهد داشت‌. نسل‌ او همیشه‌ فرمانروایی خواهد كرد تا شیلوه بیاید و همهٔ امّتها از او اطاعت ‌خواهند كرد.

¹¹Binding his foal to the vine, his donkey’s colt to the choice vine; he has washed his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes.

¹¹ او كرهٔ خویش‌ را به ‌درخت ‌مو، و الاغ‌ خود را، به ‌بهترین ‌درخت ‌انگور بسته‌ و لباسهای خود را در شراب‌ قرمز ‌شسته‌ است.

¹²His eyes will be red with wine, his teeth white with milk.

¹² چشمانش ‌از شراب‌ قرمزترند، و دندانهایش ‌از شیر سفیدتر است‌.

¹³“Zebulun will dwell at the haven of the sea. He will be for a haven of ships. His border will be on Sidon.

¹³ «زبولون‌: در كنار دریا زندگی خواهد كرد. ساحل‌ او بندرگاه ‌كشتیها خواهد شد و حدود او تا صیدون‌ خواهد رسید.

¹⁴“Issachar is a strong donkey, lying down between the saddlebags.

¹⁴ «یساكار، یک‌ الاغ ‌قوی است‌ كه‌ در آغل ‌گوسفندان ‌خوابیده ‌است‌.

¹⁵He saw a resting place, that it was good, the land, that it was pleasant. He bows his shoulder to the burden, and becomes a servant doing forced labor.

¹⁵ او دید كه ‌جای استراحت ‌او نیكو و زمین ‌او دلگشاست‌. او پشت‌ خود را برای بار خم‌ كرده ‌ و مجبور شده است که ‌مثل‌ یک ‌غلام ‌كار كند.

¹⁶“Dan will judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

¹⁶ «دان‌، بر قوم‌ خود مانند یكی از طایفه‌های اسرائیل ‌فرمانروایی خواهد كرد.

¹⁷Dan will be a serpent in the way, an adder in the path, That bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider falls backward.

¹⁷ دان ‌مانند ماری در كنار درّه ‌ و مثل ‌افعی در كنار جاده‌ خواهد بود كه ‌پاشنهٔ اسب‌ را می‌گزد و سوارش‌ از پشت‌ آن‌ می‌افتد.

¹⁸ «من‌ منتظر رستگاری از طرف ‌خداوند هستم‌.

¹⁹“A troop will press on Gad, but he will press on their heel.

¹⁹ «گروهی راهزن ‌بر جاد، حمله‌ خواهند كرد، ولی او برگشته‌ آنها را تعقیب‌ خواهند نمود.

²⁰“Asher’s food will be rich. He will yield royal dainties.

²⁰ «محصول‌ زمین ‌اشیر عالی و غذایش‌ شاهانه‌ خواهد بود.

²¹“Naphtali is a doe set free, who bears beautiful fawns.

²¹ «نفتالی آهویی است ‌كه‌ آزاد می‌دود و آهو برّه‌های قشنگ‌ می‌زاید.

²²“Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.

²² «یوسف‌، کرهٔ اسب وحشی در کنار آبها و الاغ وحشی در كوهساران ‌است‌.

²³The archers have severely grieved him, shot at him, and persecute him:

²³ دشمنانش‌ وحشیانه‌ به ‌او حمله‌ كردند، و به‌ سویش ‌تیر انداختند و او را اذیّت‌ كردند.

²⁴But his bow remained strong. The arms of his hands were made strong, by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, (from there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel),

²⁴ امّا كمان‌ او همچنان‌ در قوّت ‌نبرد باقی است‌ و بازوان‌ او به وسیلهٔ خدای قادر یعقوب ‌-كه ‌شبان ‌و صخرهٔ اسرائیل ‌است- توانا گردید.

²⁵even by the God of your father, who will help you; by the Almighty, who will bless you, with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.

²⁵ او خدای پدر توست ‌كه ‌تو را كمک‌ می‌كند. خدای قادر مطلق‌ تو را بركت ‌می‌دهد. -‌بركت‌ از آسمان ‌و از زیر زمین‌، بركت‌ بر پستانها و بر رحِمها-

²⁶The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of your ancestors, above the boundaries of the ancient hills. They will be on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the head of him who is separated from his brothers.

²⁶ بركتهای پدرت‌ كه ‌از بركت ‌كوههای جاودانی و تپّه‌ها بز‌رگتر است‌، بر سر یوسف‌ خواهد بود و بر پیشانی او، كه ‌از برادرانش‌ جدا شد.

²⁷“Benjamin is a ravenous wolf. In the morning he will devour the prey. At evening he will divide the spoil.”

²⁷ «بنیامین‌، مانند گرگ‌ درّنده‌ است‌ كه‌ صبح ‌تا شب ‌می‌كشد و پاره‌ می‌كند.»

²⁸All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them and blessed them. He blessed everyone according to his blessing.

²⁸ اینها دوازده ‌طایفهٔ اسرائیل ‌هستند و این‌ سخنانی بود كه ‌پدرشان ‌در موقع ‌وداع‌، مناسب ‌حال ‌هریک‌، به آنها گفت‌.

²⁹He instructed them, and said to them, “I am to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

²⁹ سپس ‌یعقوب ‌به ‌پسرانش ‌وصیّت ‌كرده ‌فرمود: «حالا كه‌ من‌ می‌میرم‌ و به اجداد خودم می‌پیوندم، مرا در غاری كه‌ در مزرعهٔ -‌عفرون ‌حِتّی‌- در مكفیله‌ در شرق‌ ممری در سرزمین کنعان است، به‌ خاک‌ بسپارید.» ابراهیم‌، این‌ غار و مزرعهٔ آن ‌را برای آرامگاه‌ از عفرون‌ خریداری كرده ‌بود.

³⁰in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite as a burial place.

³⁰ «این‌ همان ‌جایی است ‌كه ‌ابراهیم ‌و زنش ‌سارا و همچنین ‌اسحاق‌ و زنش ‌ربكا را در آن ‌به‌ خاک ‌سپرده‌اند و من ‌هم‌ لیه ‌را در آنجا دفن ‌كرده‌ام‌.

³¹There they buried Abraham and Sarah, his wife. There they buried Isaac and Rebekah, his wife, and there I buried Leah:

³¹ آن‌ غار و مزرعه‌اش ‌از حِتّیان ‌خریداری شده ‌است‌. مرا در آنجا به ‌خاک ‌بسپارید.» وقتی یعقوب‌ وصیّت‌ خود را به ‌پسرانش‌ تمام ‌كرد در رختخواب ‌خود خوابید و مرد و به ‌نزد اجداد خود رفت‌.

³²the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth.”

³² وقتی یعقوب‌ وصیّت‌ خود را به ‌پسرانش‌ تمام ‌كرد در رختخواب ‌خود خوابید و مرد و به ‌نزد اجداد خود رفت‌.

³³When Jacob made an end of charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the spirit, and was gathered to his people.
