¹Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

¹ پس اكنون كه گرداگرد ما چنین شاهدان امین بی‌شماری قرار گرفته‌اند، ما باید از هر قید و بندی و هر گناهی كه دست و پای ما را بسته است، آزاد شویم و با پشتكار در میدانی كه در برابر ما قرار گرفته است، بدویم.

²looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

² به عیسی كه ایمان ما را به وجود آورده و آن را كامل می‌گرداند، چشم بدوزیم. چون او به‌خاطر شادی‌ای كه در انتظارش بود، متحمّل صلیب شد و به رسوایی مردن بر روی صلیب اهمیّت نداد و بر دست راست تخت الهی نشسته است.

³For consider him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you don’t grow weary, fainting in your souls.

³ به آنچه او متحمّل شد و به ضدیّت و مخالفتی كه او از طرف گناهكاران دید، بیندیشید و مأیوس و دلسرد نشوید.

⁴You have not yet resisted to blood, striving against sin;

⁴ هنوز لازم نشده است كه شما در تلاش خود برضد گناه، خون خود را بریزید.

⁵and you have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him;

⁵ آیا این قسمت امیدبخش از كتاب خدا، كهشما را فرزندان خطاب می‌کند، از یاد برده‌اید؟ «ای فرزند من، تأدیب خداوند را ناچیز نشمار و وقتی او تو را سرزنش می‌کند ناامید نشو،

⁶For whom the Lord loves, he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives.” Proverbs 3:11-12

⁶ زیرا خداوند هرکه را دوست دارد تأدیب می‌کند، و هركه را به فرزندی می‌پذیرد تنبیه می‌نماید.»

⁷It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline?

⁷ شما باید متحمّل این سختی‌ها بشوید، زیرا این نشان می‌دهد كه خدا با شما مانند فرزندان خود رفتار می‌کند. آیا هرگز فرزندی بوده است، كه به دست پدر خویش تأدیب نشده باشد؟

⁸But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then are you illegitimate, and not children.

⁸ پس اگر شما مانند سایر پسران او تأدیب نشوید، معلوم است كه حرامزاده هستید و نه پسران حقیقی!

⁹Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?

⁹ ما نسبت به پدران جسمانی‌مان كه ما را تأدیب نمودند، احترام لازم را نشان داده‌ایم، پس چقدر بیشتر باید مطیع پدر روحانی خود باشیم و زنده بمانیم.

¹⁰For they indeed, for a few days, punished us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.

¹⁰ پدران جسمانی برای زمانی كوتاه بر طبق صلاحدید خویش، ما را تأدیب كردند، امّا خدا به‌خاطر خیریّت ما این‌کار را می‌کند تا مثل او پاک شویم.

¹¹All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby.

¹¹ زمانی‌که تنبیه می‌شویم نه تنها برای ما خوشایند نیست، بلكه دردناک است، امّا بعدها کسانی‌که با چنین تنبیهی تأدیب شده‌اند، از ثمرات آرامش یک زندگی نیکو بهره‌مند می‌شوند.

¹²Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees, Isaiah 35:3

¹² به دستها و پاهای سست و لرزان خود نیرو بخشید.

¹³and make straight paths for your feet, Proverbs 4:26 so that which is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

¹³ در راه راست گام بردارید تا نه تنها اعضای بیمار و معیوب شما، از مفاصل خود جدا نشوند، بلكه نیروی اولیهٔ خود را باز یابند.

¹⁴Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord,

¹⁴ بكوشید تا با همهٔ مردم با صلح و سازش رفتار كنید و زندگی شما پاک و منزّه باشد، زیرا بدون آن هیچ‌کس خداوند را نخواهد دید.

¹⁵looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it;

¹⁵ از یكدیگر توجّه كنید. مبادا كسی در میان شما از فیض خدا دور شود. مواظب باشید كه كسی در میان شما مثل گیاهی تلخ و زهرآگین رشد نكند و موجب ناراحتی بسیاری نگردد

¹⁶lest there be any sexually immoral person, or profane person, like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal.

¹⁶ و مانند عیسو، فاسدالاخلاق و كافر نباشد. او حق نخستزادگی خود را به یک وعده غذا فروخت،

¹⁷For you know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for a change of mind though he sought it diligently with tears.

¹⁷ و شما می‌دانید كه اگرچه او بعداً می‌‌خواست آن بركت را باز به دست آورد، ولی پذیرفته نشد، زیرا راهی برای بازگشت نداشت، اگرچه او با ریختن اشک در پی آن بود.

¹⁸For you have not come to a mountain that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and to blackness, darkness, storm,

¹⁸ شما پیش آتش محسوس و مشتعل كوه سینا نیامده‌اید و در برابر تاریكی و تیرگی و گردباد

¹⁹the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which those who heard it begged that not one more word should be spoken to them,

¹⁹ و صدای شیپور و صداهایی كه شنوندگان آرزو داشتند دیگر آنها را نشنوند، قرار نگرفته‌اید.

²⁰for they could not stand that which was commanded, “If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned TR adds “or shot with an arrow” [see Exodus 19:12-13] ”; Exodus 19:12-13

²⁰ زیرا آنها نتوانستند فرمان خدا را كه می‌فرماید: «حتّی اگر حیوانی به كوه نزدیک شود، باید سنگسار گردد.» بپذیرند.

²¹and so fearful was the appearance, that Moses said, “I am terrified and trembling.” Deuteronomy 9:19

²¹ آن منظره چنان ترسناک بود كه خود موسی گفت: «می‌ترسم و می‌لرزم.»

²²But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable multitudes of angels,

²² امّا شما در مقابل كوه صهیون و شهر خدای زنده یعنی اورشلیم آسمانی ایستاده‌اید و در برابر فرشتگان بی‌شمار

²³to the general assembly and assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,

²³ و مجلس جشن و اجتماع نخستزادگانی كه اسامی آنان در عالم بالا ثبت شده است و در برابر خدا -‌داور همه- و ارواح نیكان قرار گرفته‌اید

²⁴to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, Jeremiah 31:31 and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better than that of Abel.

²⁴ و پیش عیسی، واسطهٔ پیمان تازه كه خون ریختهٔ او حاكی از پیامی بهتر از خون هابیل است آمده‌اید.

²⁵See that you don’t refuse him who speaks. For if they didn’t escape when they refused him who warned on the earth, how much more will we not escape who turn away from him who warns from heaven,

²⁵ مراقب باشید كه از شنیدن صدای او كه سخن می‌گوید روی نگردانید. آنها كه از شنیدن سخنان کسی‌که بر روی زمین سخن می‌گفت سر باز زدند، به كیفر خود رسیدند. پس ما اگر از گوش دادن به آن کسی‌که از آسمان سخن می‌گوید روی گردانیم، دچار چه كیفر شدیدتری خواهیم شد!

²⁶whose voice shook the earth then, but now he has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heavens.” Haggai 2:6

²⁶ در آن زمان صدای او زمین را لرزانید، امّا اكنون قول داده است كه یک‌بار دیگر نه تنها زمین، بلكه آسمانها را نیز خواهد لرزانید.

²⁷This phrase, “Yet once more,” signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.

²⁷ این كلمات «یک‌بار دیگر» نشان می‌دهد مخلوقاتی كه تزلزل ‌پذیرند، از بین خواهند رفت و آنچه ثابت است، باقی خواهد ماند.

²⁸Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can’t be shaken, let us have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,

²⁸ خدا را برای آن پادشاهی تزلزل ‌ناپذیری كه او به ما می‌دهد، سپاس گوییم و او را آن‌طور كه مقبول اوست، عبادت نماییم؛ یعنی با خوف و احترام. زیرا خدای ما در واقع آتشی است كه می‌سوزاند.

²⁹for our God is a consuming fire. Deuteronomy 4:24

²⁹ زیرا خدای ما در واقع آتشی است كه می‌سوزاند.
