1Behold, Yahweh’s hand is not shortened, that it can’t save; neither his ear heavy, that it can’t hear:

فکر نکنید که خداوند آنقدر ضعیف است که نمیتواند شما را نجات دهد یا آنقدر کَر است که فریاد شما را برای کمک نمیشنود.
2but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

بهخاطر گناهان شماست که او حرف شما را نمیشنود. این گناهان شماست که بین شما و خدا -حتّی در وقتی که میخواهید او را پرستش کنید- جدایی ایجاد کرده است.
3For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue mutters wickedness.

شما مرتکب گناهان دروغگویی، خشونت، و قتل شدهاید.
4None sues in righteousness, and none pleads in truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

شما به دادگاه میروید، ولی حقیقت را نمیگویید. شما میخواهید با دروغ در دعوا برنده شوید. نقشههای خود را برای آزار دیگران دنبال میکنید.
5They hatch adders’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he who eats of their eggs dies; and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper.

توطئههای شرارتآمیزی که طرح میکنید مثل تخمهای مارهای زهرآگین، سمّی هستند؛ از درون این تخمها چیزی جز مار به دنیا نمیآید. این نقشهها به سود شما نخواهد بود، آنها مثل لباسی خواهند بود که از تار عنکبوت بافته شده باشد!
6Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

شما دایماً در اندیشهٔ توطئههای شرارتبار هستید، و میخواهید هرچه سریعتر آن نقشهها اجرا شوند. برای کشتن آدمهای بیگناه هیچوقت تأمل نمیکنید. هر جا میروید خرابی و ویرانی بجا میگذارید،
7Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; desolation and destruction are in their paths.

و وقتی شما آنجا هستید، کسی در امن و امان نیست. هرچه میکنید بیعدالتی است. شما مسیری ناراست را دنبال میکنید و هیچوقت کسیکه از آن راه برود در امن و امان نخواهد بود.
8The way of peace they don’t know; and there is no justice in their goings: they have made them crooked paths; whoever goes therein does not know peace.

مردم میگویند: «ما اکنون میدانیم چرا خداوند ما را از دست کسانیکه به ما ظلم و جور روا میدارند، خلاص نمیکند. ما در انتظار نور هستیم تا بتوانیم راه خود را پیدا کنیم، امّا تمام راهها تاریک است.
9Therefore is justice far from us, neither does righteousness overtake us: we look for light, but, behold, darkness; for brightness, but we walk in obscurity.

مثل آدمهای کور، کورکورانه حرکت میکنیم. در آفتاب ظهر میلغزیم، گویی که شبی تاریک است، و یا در ظلمت دنیای مردگان هستیم.
10We grope for the wall like the blind; yes, we grope as those who have no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the twilight; among those who are lusty we are as dead men.

ما در ترس و نگرانی هستیم. ما با اشتیاق فراوان در انتظاریم که خدا ما را از ظلم و بیانصافی خلاص کند، ولی از آن نتیجهای نگرفتیم.
11We roar all like bears, and moan bitterly like doves: we look for justice, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.

«ای خداوند، گناهان بیشماری برضد تو مرتکب شدهایم و خطاهای ما گواهی است برضد ما، و خودمان از آنها کاملاً آگاه هستیم.
12For our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them:

ما علیه تو شوریدهایم، تو را رد کرده و از پیروی تو خودداری نمودهایم. ما به دیگران ستم روا داشتیم و از تو دور شدیم. افکار ما غلط و گفتار ما ناراست است.
13transgressing and denying Yahweh, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

عدالت به عقب رانده شده، و نیکویی نمیتواند نزدیک شود. در پیش چشمان همه حقیقت منحرف شده، و جایی برای صداقت وجود ندارد.
14Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and uprightness can’t enter.

آنقدر صداقت کَم شده که اگر کسی دست از شرارات بردارد، خودش هدف شرارت قرار میگیرد.»
خداوند اینها را دیده است واز اینکه عدالتی نیست، ناخشنود است.
15Yes, truth is lacking; and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Yahweh saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.

او در عجب است که کسی به یاری ستمدیدگان نمیرود. از این رو او با قدرت خودش برای رهایی آنها میرود و پیروزی را به دست میآورد.
16He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his own arm brought salvation to him; and his righteousness, it upheld him.

او عدالت را مانند زره بر تن کرده، و پیروزی را مانند کلاهخود بر سر گذاشته. او خود را با اشتیاق شدید برای اصلاح، تنبیه، و انتقام از کسانیکه باعث چنین ستمی بر قوم خدا شدهاند، آماده کرده است.
17He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; and he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a mantle.

او دشمنان خود را -حتّی آنهایی را که در سرزمینهای دوردست زندگی میکنند- متناسب با آنچه که مرتکب شدهاند، مجازات خواهد کرد.
18According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, wrath to his adversaries, recompense to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompense.

همه از شرق و غرب از او و از قدرت عظیم او در هراس خواهند بود. او مثل رودی خروشان، و مانند بادی شدید خواهد آمد.
19So shall they fear the name of Yahweh from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come as a rushing stream, which the breath of Yahweh drives.

خداوند به قوم خود میگوید: «من به اورشلیم خواهم آمد تا از تو حمایت کنم و تمام کسانی را که از گناهان خود توبه میکنند نجات دهم.
و من با تو پیمان میبندم که قدرت و تعالیم خود را تا به ابد به تو بدهم، در عوض تو باید از من اطاعت کنی و به فرزندان و نوههای خود بیاموزی که همیشه مُطیع من باشند.»
20“A Redeemer will come to Zion, and to those who turn from disobedience in Jacob,” says Yahweh.

و من با تو پیمان میبندم که قدرت و تعالیم خود را تا به ابد به تو بدهم، در عوض تو باید از من اطاعت کنی و به فرزندان و نوههای خود بیاموزی که همیشه مُطیع من باشند.»
21“As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says Yahweh. “My Spirit who is on you, and my words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your seed, nor out of the mouth of your seed’s seed,” says Yahweh, “from henceforth and forever.”
