¹The word of Yahweh came also to me, saying,

¹ خداوند بار دیگر به من گفت:

²You shall not take a wife, neither shall you have sons or daughters, in this place.

² «تو نباید در چنین جایی ازدواج کنی و صاحب فرزند شوی.

³For thus says Yahweh concerning the sons and concerning the daughters who are born in this place, and concerning their mothers who bore them, and concerning their fathers who became their father in this land:

³ به تو خواهم گفت که چه بلایی بر سر کودکانی که در اینجا به دنیا می‌آیند و به سر والدین آنها خواهد آمد.

⁴They shall die grievous deaths: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried; they shall be as dung on the surface of the ground; and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the sky, and for the animals of the earth.

⁴ بیماری مهلکی همهٔ آنها را خواهد کشت و کسی برای آنها ماتم نخواهد گرفت و اجسادشان را دفن نخواهند کرد. بدنهای آنها مثل توده‌های کود بر روی زمین جمع می‌شود. آنها یا در جنگ کشته می‌شوند یا از گرسنگی خواهند مُرد و بدنهای آنها طعمهٔ پرندگان و حیوانات وحشی خواهد شد.

⁵For thus says Yahweh, Don’t enter into the house of mourning, neither go to lament, neither bemoan them; for I have taken away my peace from this people, says Yahweh, even loving kindness and tender mercies.

⁵ «تو نباید وارد خانه‌ای شوی که در آن سوگواری است؛ یا نباید برای کسی ماتم بگیری. من با دادن صلح و سعادت قوم خودم را برکت نخواهم داد و آنها محبّت و رحمت را نخواهند دید.

⁶Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them;

⁶ فقیر و غنی، همه در این سرزمین خواهند مُرد و کسی نیست که آنها را دفن کند یا برایشان سوگواری کند. کسی نیست که به نشانهٔ همدردی خود را مجروح کند یا موی سر خود را بتراشد.

⁷neither shall men break bread for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.

⁷ کسی بر سر سفرهٔ شخص دیگری به منظور تسلّی و دلداری او در مرگ عزیزانش نخواهد نشست. آنها حتّی در مرگ والدین یک نفر همدردی نشان نمی‌دهند.

⁸You shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and to drink.

⁸ «به خانه‌ای که جشن و ضیافت دارند داخل نشو و برای خوردن و نوشیدن با‌ آنها همنشینی نکن.

⁹For thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.

⁹ به آنچه من خداوند متعال، خدای اسرائیل می‌گویم گوش کن. من صداهای خوشی و شادمانی مجالس عروسی را به سکوت مبدّل خواهم کرد و شما همه زنده و شاهد این امور خواهید بود.

¹⁰It shall happen, when you shall show this people all these words, and they shall tell you, Why has Yahweh pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against Yahweh our God?

¹⁰ «وقتی تو تمام این چیزها را به مردم بگویی، آنها از تو خواهند پرسید که چرا من خواستم آنها به این سختی مجازات شوند. آنها خواهند پرسید که تقصیر آنها چیست و مرتکب چه گناهی علیه خداوند، خدای خودشان شده‌اند.

¹¹Then you shall tell them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, says Yahweh, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshiped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;

¹¹ آنگاه به ‌آنها بگو که خداوند گفته: 'اجداد شما از من برگشتند و سایر خدایان را پرستش و خدمت کردند. آنها مرا ترک کردند و از تعالیم من اطاعت نکردند.

¹²and you have done evil more than your fathers; for, behold, you walk every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that you don’t listen to me:

¹² امّا کارهای شما از کارهای اجدادتان بدتر است. همهٔ شما سرسخت و شریر هستید و از من اطاعت نمی‌کنید،

¹³therefore will I cast you forth out of this land into the land that you have not known, neither you nor your fathers; and there you shall serve other gods day and night; for I will show you no favor.

¹³ پس من شما را از این سرزمین بیرون خواهم انداخت و به مملکتی خواهم برد که نه شما و نه اجدادتان چیزی دربارهٔ آن دانسته‌اید. در آنجا شما خدایان دیگر را شبانه‌روز خدمت خواهید کرد، و من هم دیگر به شما ترّحم نخواهم کرد.'»

¹⁴Therefore behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that it shall no more be said, As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

¹⁴ خداوند می‌گوید: «زمانی خواهد آمد که دیگر مردم به نام من، خدای زنده‌ای که اسرائیل را از مصر بیرون آورد، سوگند یاد نخواهند کرد.

¹⁵but, As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the countries where he had driven them. I will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers.

¹⁵ در عوض آنها به نام خدای زنده‌ای سوگند یاد می‌کنند که قوم اسرائیل را از سرزمینی در شمال و از سایر کشورهایی که آنها را پراکنده کرده بودم، بازگردانده است. من آنها را به کشور خودشان، به سرزمینی که به اجدادشان داده بودم، برمی‌گردانم. من خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

¹⁶Behold, I will send for many fishermen, says Yahweh, and they shall fish them up; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks.

¹⁶ خداوند می‌گوید: «من ماهیگیران بسیاری می‌فرستم تا این قوم را صید کنند. بعد از آن شکارچیان زیادی خواهم فرستاد تا در هر کوه و تپّه و در غارهای میان صخره‌‌ها آنها را شکار کنند.

¹⁷For my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from my face, neither is their iniquity concealed from my eyes.

¹⁷ من هرچه آنها می‌کنند، می‌بینم. هیچ چیز از من مخفی نیست و گناهان آنها از نظر من دور نمی‌شود.

¹⁸First I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable things, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations.

¹⁸ من آنها را وادار می‌کنم برای گناهان و شرارت خود دوچندان بپردازند؛ آنها با بُتهای بی‌جان خود سرزمین مرا ناپاک ساخته و آن را از خدایان دروغین پر کرده‌اند.»

¹⁹Yahweh, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, vanity and things in which there is no profit.

¹⁹ ای خداوند، تو هستی که از من حمایت می‌کنی، به من توانایی می‌بخشی، و در زمان سختی به من یاری می‌دهی. ملّتها از دورترین نقاط جهان به حضور تو می‌آیند و می‌گویند: «اجداد ما چیزی جز خدایان دروغین و بُتهایی بیهوده نداشتند.

²⁰Shall a man make to himself gods, which yet are no gods?

²⁰ آیا انسان می‌تواند خدایان خود را بسازد؟ آری، ولی آنها خدای واقعی نخواهند بود.» خداوند می‌گوید: «یک بار و برای همیشه قدرت و توانایی خود را به ملّتها نشان خواهم داد تا آنها بفهمند که من خداوند هستم.»

²¹Therefore behold, I will cause them to know, this once will I cause them to know my hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is Yahweh.

²¹ خداوند می‌گوید: «یک بار و برای همیشه قدرت و توانایی خود را به ملّتها نشان خواهم داد تا آنها بفهمند که من خداوند هستم.»
