¹In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

¹ مدّت کمی‌ بعد از آنکه صدقیا پسر یوشیا، پادشاه یهودا شد، خداوند از من خواست

²Thus says Yahweh to me: Make bonds and bars, and put them on your neck;

² با بندهای چرمی و الوارهای چوبی، یوغی درست کنم و به گردن خود بیاندازم.

³and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah;

³ بعد از آن خداوند به من گفت پیامی به پادشاهان اَدوم، موآب، عمون، صور و صیدون توسط سفیرانشان که برای دیدن حزقیای پادشاه به اورشلیم آمده بودند، بفرستم.

⁴and give them a command to their masters, saying, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, You shall tell your masters:

⁴ خداوند متعال، خدای اسرائیل به من گفت به آنها دستور بدهم تا به پادشاهان خود بگویند که خداوند می‌فرماید:

⁵I have made the earth, the men and the animals that are on the surface of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm; and I give it to whom it seems right to me.

⁵ «با قدرت عظیم خودم تمام جهان، تمام انسانها و حیوانات روی زمین را آفریدم، و من اختیار آن را به هرکس که بخواهم می‌دهم.

⁶Now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the animals of the field also have I given him to serve him.

⁶ من آن کسی هستم که تمام ملّتها را تسلیم بندهٔ خودم، نبوکدنصر پادشاه بابل کرده‌ام، و حتّی حیوانات وحشی را به خدمت او واداشتم.

⁷All the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondservant.

⁷ تمام ملّتها در خدمت او، پسرش و نوه‌اش خواهند بود تا روزی که ملّت خودش سقوط کند. آنگاه ملّت او در خدمت ملّتهای زورمند و پادشاهان بزرگ در خواهد آمد.

⁸It shall happen, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, says Yahweh, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

⁸ امّا اگر ملّتی یا مملکتی تسلیم قدرت او نشود، در آن صورت من آن ملّت را با جنگ، گرسنگی و بیماری مجازات خواهم کرد و اجازه خواهم داد تا نبوکدنصر سرزمینشان را کاملاً نابود سازد.

⁹But as for you, don’t you listen to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreams, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon:

⁹ به انبیای خودتان و یا به کسانی‌که ادّعا می‌کنند می‌توانند آینده را با خواب و رؤیا و یا با احضار ارواح و یا با جادوگری پیش‌بینی کنند، گوش ندهید. آنها همه به شما می‌گویند که تسلیم پادشاه بابل نشوید.

¹⁰for they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and you should perish.

¹⁰ آنها شما را فریب می‌دهند و این باعث خواهد شد که شما را از سرزمین خودتان تبعید کنند. من شما را بیرون خواهم راند و شما نابود خواهید شد.

¹¹But the nation that shall bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, that nation will I let remain in their own land, says Yahweh; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.

¹¹ امّا اگر ملّتی تسلیم پادشاه بابل شود و در خدمت او در‌آید، در آن صورت به او اجازه خواهم داد در زمین خود بماند تا در آنجا زراعت و زندگی کند. من خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.

¹²I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

¹² من همان را به حزقیا پادشاه یهودا، گفتم: «تسلیم پادشاه بابل شو. در خدمت او و ملّت او در بیا تا زنده بمانی.

¹³Why will you die, you and your people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as Yahweh has spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

¹³ چرا باید تو و ملّت تو در جنگ، یا گرسنگی و یا بیماری کشته شوید؟ خداوند می‌گوید این است سرنوشت هر ملّتی که تسلیم پادشاه بابل نشود.

¹⁴Don’t listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you.

¹⁴ به انبیایی که می‌گویند تسلیم او نشوید گوش ندهید. آنها شما را فریب می‌دهند.

¹⁵For I have not sent them, says Yahweh, but they prophesy falsely in my name; that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you, and the prophets who prophesy to you.

¹⁵ خداوند خودش گفته است که او آنها را نفرستاده و آنها با نام خداوند به شما دروغ می‌گویند. در نتیجه او شما و انبیای شما را که چنین دروغهایی می‌‌گویند، بیرون خواهد راند و خواهد کشت.»

¹⁶Also I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus says Yahweh: Don’t listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, saying, Behold, the vessels of Yahweh’s house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you.

¹⁶ پس از آن به کاهنان و مردم گفتم که خداوند فرموده: «به انبیایی که می‌گویند ظروف قیمتی معبد بزرگ بزودی از بابل بازگردانده می‌شود، گوش ندهید. آنها دروغ می‌گویند.

¹⁷Don’t listen to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: why should this city become a desolation?

¹⁷ به حرفهای آنها گوش ندهید. تسلیم پادشاه بابل شوید تا زنده بمانید! چرا این شهر باید به تل خاک تبدیل شود؟

¹⁸But if they be prophets, and if the word of Yahweh be with them, let them now make intercession to Yahweh of Armies, that the vessels which are left in the house of Yahweh, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, don’t go to Babylon.

¹⁸ اگر آنها واقعاً نبی هستند و اگر از من پیامی گرفته‌اند، بگذارید از من، خداوند متعال بخواهند تا اجازه ندهم ظروف قیمتی‌ای که در معبد بزرگ و در کاخ سلطنتی باقیمانده است، به بابل برده شود.

¹⁹For thus says Yahweh of Armies concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that are left in this city,

¹⁹ (وقتی نبوکدنصر پادشاه، یهویاکین پسر یهویاقیم را به همراه بزرگان یهودا و اورشلیم به بابل برد، پاره‌ای از اشیاء ارزشمند مانند ستونها و حوضچه‌ها و پایه‌های برنزی و سایر ذخایر معبد بزرگ را با خود نبرد.)

²⁰which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon didn’t take, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;

²⁰ «به آنچه من، خداوند متعال، خدای اسرائیل دربارهٔ ظروف قیمتی باقیمانده در معبد بزرگ و کاخ سلطنتی در اورشلیم می‌گویم، گوش دهید. آنها را به بابل خواهند برد و در آنجا خواهند ماند تا زمانی که دوباره مورد توجّه من قرار گیرند. آنگاه آنها را به اینجا برمی‌گردانم. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

²¹yes, thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of Yahweh, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem:

²¹ آنها را به بابل خواهند برد و در آنجا خواهند ماند تا زمانی که دوباره مورد توجّه من قرار گیرند. آنگاه آنها را به اینجا برمی‌گردانم. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

²²They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be, until the day that I visit them, says Yahweh; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
