¹There was a man of the hill country of Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

¹ مردی بود به نام میخا که در کوهستان افرایم زندگی می‌کرد.

²He said to his mother, “The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken from you, about which you uttered a curse, and also spoke it in my ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it.” His mother said, “Blessed be my son of Yahweh.”

² او به مادرش گفت: «وقتی کسی آن هزار و صد تکه نقرهٔ تو را دزدید تو او را نفرین کردی، من شنیدم. ببین پول پیش من است و من آن کسی هستم که آن را برداشت.» مادرش گفت: «فرزندم، خداوند تو را برکت بدهد.»

³He restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother; and his mother said, “I most certainly dedicate the silver to Yahweh from my hand for my son, to make an engraved image and a molten image. Now therefore I will restore it to you.”

³ میخا پول را به مادر خود پس داد. مادرش گفت: «من این نقره را با دست خود برای پسرم وقف خداوند می‌کنم تا یک بُت نقره‌ای ساخته شود. بنابراین نقره را به تو می‌دهم.»

⁴When he restored the money to his mother, his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made of it an engraved image and a molten image: and it was in the house of Micah.

⁴ پس وقتی نقره را به مادر خود داد، مادرش دویست تکهٔ آن را به زرگر داد تا از آن بُت بسازد و سپس آن را در خانه میخا گذاشت.

⁵The man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

⁵ میخا بتخانه‌ای داشت و بت می‌ساخت. یکی از پسران خود را به عنوان کاهن خود معیّن کرده بود.

⁶In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

⁶ در آن زمان مردم اسرائیل پادشاهی نداشتند و هرکس هر کاری که دلش می‌خواست می‌کرد.

⁷There was a young man out of Bethlehem Judah, of the family of Judah, who was a Levite; and he lived there.

⁷ یک جوان لاوی، از طایفهٔ یهودا خواست از بیت‌لحم به افرایم بیاید تا جایی برای سکونت پیدا کند.

⁸The man departed out of the city, out of Bethlehem Judah, to live where he could find a place, and he came to the hill country of Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he traveled.

⁸ پس شهر بیت‌لحم یهودا را ترک کرد و به کوهستان افرایم رفت و در راه، در خانه میخا توقّف کرد.

⁹Micah said to him, “Where did you come from?” He said to him, “I am a Levite of Bethlehem Judah, and I am looking for a place to live.”

⁹ میخا از او پرسید: «از کجا آمده‌ای؟» او جواب داد: «من یک لاوی هستم و از شهر بیت‌لحم یهودا آمده‌ام تا جایی برای سکونت پیدا کنم.»

¹⁰Micah said to him, “Dwell with me, and be to me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten pieces of silver per year, a suit of clothing, and your food.” So the Levite went in.

¹⁰ میخا به او گفت: «بیا با من زندگی کن و برای من پدر و کاهن باش. من به تو سالانه ده تکه نقره، یک دست لباس و هزینه زندگی می‌دهم.»

¹¹The Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was to him as one of his sons.

¹¹ مرد لاوی موافقت کرد که با او زندگی کند و میخا با او همچون یکی از پسران خود رفتار می‌کرد.

¹²Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

¹² به این ترتیب میخا او را به عنوان کاهن شخصی خود انتخاب کرد. بعد میخا به او گفت: «حال یقین دارم که خداوند به مال و دارایی من برکت می‌دهد، زیرا یک لاوی به عنوان کاهن برای من کار می‌کند.»

¹³Then Micah said, “Now know I that Yahweh will do good to me, since I have a Levite to my priest.”

¹³ بعد میخا به او گفت: «حال یقین دارم که خداوند به مال و دارایی من برکت می‌دهد، زیرا یک لاوی به عنوان کاهن برای من کار می‌کند.»
