¹Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.

¹ همین‌که صبح شد، سران كاهنان به اتّفاق مشایخ و علما و تمام اعضای شورا، با عجله جلسه‌ای تشكیل دادند. آنها عیسی را با زنجیری بسته و به پیلاطس تحویل دادند.

²Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered, “So you say.”

² پیلاطس از او پرسید: «آیا تو پادشاه یهود هستی؟» عیسی جواب داد: «همان است كه می‌گویی.»

³The chief priests accused him of many things.

³ سران كاهنان، اتّهامات زیادی به او نسبت دادند.

⁴Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you!”

⁴ پیلاطس باز از او پرسید: «جوابی نداری؟ ببین چه اتّهامات زیادی به تو نسبت می‌دهند.»

⁵But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.

⁵ امّا عیسی جوابی نداد، به طوری که باعث تعجّب پیلاطس شد.

⁶Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whom they asked of him.

⁶ در هر عید فصح پیلاطس بنا به خواهش مردم، یک زندانی را آزاد می‌کرد.

⁷There was one called Barabbas, bound with those who had made insurrection, men who in the insurrection had committed murder.

⁷ در آن زمان مردی معروف به «باراباس» همراه با یاغیانی كه در یک آشوب، مرتكب قتل شده بودند، در زندان بود.

⁸The multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do as he always did for them.

⁸ مردم پیش پیلاطس رفتند و از او خواهش كردند كه طبق معمول این كار را برایشان انجام دهد.

⁹Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

⁹ پیلاطس از ایشان پرسید: «آیا می‌خواهید، پادشاه یهود را برای شما آزاد كنم؟»

¹⁰For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up.

¹⁰ چون او می‌دانست كه سران كاهنان از روی حسد عیسی را تسلیم کرده‌اند.

¹¹But the chief priests stirred up the multitude, that he should release Barabbas to them instead.

¹¹ امّا سران كاهنان مردم را تحریک كردند كه از پیلاطس بخواهند «باراباس» را برایشان آزاد كند.

¹²Pilate again asked them, “What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?”

¹² پیلاطس بار دیگر به ایشان گفت: «پس با مردی كه او را پادشاه یهودیان می‌نامید، چه كنم؟»

¹³They cried out again, “Crucify him!”

¹³ آنها در جواب با فریاد گفتند: «مصلوبش كن.»

¹⁴Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, “Crucify him!”

¹⁴ پیلاطس پرسید: «چرا؟ مرتكب چه جنایتی شده است؟» امّا آنان شدیدتر فریاد می‌زدند: «مصلوبش كن!»

¹⁵Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.

¹⁵ پس پیلاطس كه مایل بود، مردم را راضی نگه دارد «باراباس» را برای ایشان آزاد كرد و دستور داد عیسی را تازیانه زده، بسپارند تا مصلوب شود.

¹⁶The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.

¹⁶ سربازان عیسی را به داخل محوطهٔ كاخ فرمانداری بردند و تمام گروهان را جمع كردند.

¹⁷They clothed him with purple, and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.

¹⁷ آنها ردای ارغوانی را به او پوشانیدند و تاجی از خار بافته و روی سرش گذاشتند

¹⁸They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

¹⁸ و به او ادای احترام كرده می‌گفتند: «سلام، ای پادشاه یهود.»

¹⁹They struck his head with a reed, and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him.

¹⁹ و با چوب بر سرش می‌زدند و به رویش آب دهان می‌انداختند. بعد پیش او زانو زده و تعظیم می‌کردند.

²⁰When they had mocked him, they took the purple off of him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.

²⁰ وقتی مسخرگی‌ها تمام شد، آنها لباس ارغوانی را از تنش درآورده و لباسهای خودش را به او پوشانیدند و او را بیرون بردند تا مصلوب كنند.

²¹They compelled one passing by, coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go with them, that he might bear his cross.

²¹ آنان شخصی را به نام شمعون اهل قیروان، پدر اسكندر و روفس كه از صحرا به شهر می‌آمد و از آنجا می‌گذشت، مجبور كردند كه صلیب عیسی را حمل كند.

²²They brought him to the place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, “The place of a skull.”

²² آنها عیسی را به محلی به نام «جلجتا» كه معنی آن «محل كاسهٔ سر» است بردند.

²³They offered him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but he didn’t take it.

²³ به او شرابی دادند كه آمیخته به دارویی به نام «مُر» بود، امّا او آن را قبول نكرد.

²⁴Crucifying him, they parted his garments among them, casting lots on them, what each should take.

²⁴ پس او را بر صلیب میخكوب كردند و لباسهایش را بین خود تقسیم نمودند و برای تعیین سهم هر یک، قرعه انداختند.

²⁵It was the third hour, 9:00 A. M. and they crucified him.

²⁵ ساعت نُه صبح بود كه او را مصلوب كردند.

²⁶The superscription of his accusation was written over him, “THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

²⁶ تقصیرنامه‌ای به این شرح برایش نوشتند: «پادشاه یهودیان»

²⁷With him they crucified two robbers; one on his right hand, and one on his left.

²⁷ دو نفر راهزن را نیز با او مصلوب كردند یکی در طرف راست و دیگری را در سمت چپ او. [

²⁸The Scripture was fulfilled, which says, “He was numbered with transgressors.” NU omits verse 28.

²⁸ به این طریق آن كلامی كه می‌گوید: از خطاكاران محسوب شد، تحقّق یافت.]

²⁹Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Ha! You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days,

²⁹ کسانی‌که از آنجا می‌گذشتند، سرهایشان را تكان می‌دادند و با اهانت به عیسی می‌گفتند: «ای کسی‌که می‌خواستی معبد بزرگ را خراب كنی و در سه روز بسازی،

³⁰save yourself, and come down from the cross!”

³⁰ حالا از صلیب پایین بیا و خودت را نجات بده.»

³¹Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said, “He saved others. He can’t save himself.

³¹ همچنین سران كاهنان و علما نیز او را مسخره می‌کردند و به یكدیگر می‌گفتند: «دیگران را نجات می‌داد، امّا نمی‌تواند خود را نجات دهد.

³²Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe him. TR omits “him” ” Those who were crucified with him insulted him.

³² حالا این مسیح، پادشاه اسرائیل، از صلیب پایین بیاید تا ما ببینیم و به او ایمان بیاوریم.» كسانی هم كه با او مصلوب شده بودند، به او اهانت می‌کردند.

³³When the sixth hour or, noon had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 3:00 PM

³³ در وقت ظهر، تاریکی تمام آن سرزمین را فراگرفت و تا سه ساعت ادامه داشت.

³⁴At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Psalm 22:1

³⁴ در ساعت سه بعد از ظهر، عیسی با صدای بلند گفت: «ایلی، ایلی لما سبقتنی؟» یعنی «خدای من، خدای من، چرا مرا ترک كردی؟»

³⁵Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”

³⁵ بعضی از حاضران وقتی این را شنیدند، گفتند: «نگاه كنید! او الیاس را صدا می‌کند!»

³⁶One ran, and filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down.”

³⁶ یکی از آنها دوید و اسفنجی را از شراب تُرشیده پُر كرد و روی نی گذاشت و به او داد تا بنوشد و گفت: «بگذارید ببینم، آیا الیاس می‌آید تا او را پایین بیاورد؟»

³⁷Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit.

³⁷ عیسی فریاد بلندی كشید و جان داد.

³⁸The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.

³⁸ پردهٔ اندرون مقدّس معبد بزرگ از بالا تا پایین دو تكه شد.

³⁹When the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

³⁹ سروانی كه در مقابل عیسی ایستاده بود، وقتی چگونگی مرگ او را دید، گفت: «حقیقتاً این مرد پسر خدا بود.»

⁴⁰There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

⁴⁰ در آنجا عدّه‌ای زن هم بودند كه از دور نگاه می‌کردند و در بین آنها مریم مجدلیه و مریم مادر یعقوب كوچک و یوشا و سالومه دیده می‌شدند.

⁴¹who, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and served him; and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.

⁴¹ این زنها وقتی عیسی در جلیل بود، به او گرویدند و او را كمک می‌کردند. بسیاری از زنهای دیگر نیز همراه او به اورشلیم آمده بودند.

⁴²When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

⁴² غروب همان روز كه روز تدارک، یعنی پیش از روز سبت بود،

⁴³Joseph of Arimathaea, a prominent council member who also himself was looking for the Kingdom of God, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.

⁴³ یوسف از اهل رامه، كه یکی از اعضای محترم شورای یهود و در انتظار ظهور پادشاهی خدا بود، با كمال شهامت پیش پیلاطس رفت و جسد عیسی را از او خواست.

⁴⁴Pilate marveled if he were already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead long.

⁴⁴ پیلاطس باور نمی‌کرد كه عیسی به این زودی مرده باشد. پس به دنبال سروانی كه مأمور مصلوب كردن عیسی بود فرستاد و از او پرسید: «آیا او به همین زودی مرد؟»

⁴⁵When he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

⁴⁵ وقتی پیلاطس از جانب سروان اطمینان یافت، به یوسف اجازه داد كه جنازه را ببرد.

⁴⁶He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

⁴⁶ یوسف، كتان لطیفی خرید و جنازه عیسی را پایین آورد و در آن پیچید و در مقبره‌ای كه از سنگ تراشیده شده بود، قرار داد و سنگی جلوی در آن غلطانید. مریم مجدلیه و مریم مادر یوشا، دیدند كه عیسی كجا گذاشته شد.

⁴⁷Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.
