¹Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,

¹ در این وقت گروهی از فریسیان و علما از اورشلیم پیش عیسی آمده از او پرسیدند:

²“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.”

² «چرا شاگردان تو آداب و رسومی را كه از نیاکان ما به ما رسیده است، نادیده می‌گیرند و پیش از خوردن غذا دستهای خود را نمی‌شویند؟»

³He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?

³ عیسی به آنان جواب داد: «چرا خود شما برای اینكه آداب و رسوم گذشته خود را حفظ كنید، فرمان الهی را می‌شكنید؟

⁴ For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16 and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’ Exodus 21:17; Leviticus 20:9

⁴ مثلاً خدا فرمود: 'پدر و مادر خود را احترام كن، و هرکس به پدر یا مادر خود ناسزا گوید، باید كشته شود،'

⁵ But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”

⁵ امّا شما می‌گویید: 'اگر کسی به پدر و مادر خود بگوید كه هرچه باید برای كمک به شما بدهم وقف كار خدا کرده‌ام،

⁶ he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.

⁶ دیگر او مجبور نیست به آنها احترام بگذارد.' شما این‌طور قانون خدا را به‌خاطر آداب و رسوم خود نادیده گرفته‌اید.

⁷ You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,

⁷ ای ریاكاران! اشعیا دربارهٔ شما درست پیشگویی كرد وقتی گفت:

⁸ ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

⁸ 'این قوم با زبان خود، به من احترام می‌گذارند، امّا دلهایشان از من دور است.

⁹ And in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’” Isaiah 29:13

⁹ عبادت آنها بیهوده است زیرا اوامر انسانی را به جای احكام الهی تعلیم می‌دهند.'»

¹⁰He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.

¹⁰ آنگاه عیسی مردم را پیش خوانده به ایشان گفت: «به من گوش كنید و این را بدانید

¹¹ That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”

¹¹ كه انسان به وسیلهٔ آنچه می‌خورد و می‌نوشد ناپاک نمی‌شود، بلكه آن چیزی كه از دهان او بیرون می‌آید، او را ناپاک می‌سازد.»

¹²Then the disciples came, and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?”

¹² در این وقت شاگردان پیش او آمده گفتند: «آیا می‌دانی فریسیان از آنچه گفته‌ای ناراحت شده‌اند؟»

¹³But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted.

¹³ عیسی جواب داد: «هر نهالی كه پدر آسمانی من بر زمین نكاشته باشد، از ریشه كنده خواهد شد.

¹⁴ Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

¹⁴ آنها را به حال خودشان بگذارید، آنها كورانی هستند كه راهنمای كوران دیگر می‌باشند و هرگاه كوری راهنمای كور دیگری باشد، هر دو به چاه خواهند افتاد.»

¹⁵Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”

¹⁵ آنگاه پطرس به عیسی گفت: «معنی این مَثَل را برای ما تعریف كن.»

¹⁶So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand?

¹⁶ عیسی در جواب فرمود: «پس شما هنوز هم این چیزها را درک نمی‌کنید؟

¹⁷ Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?

¹⁷ آیا نمی‌فهمید كه هرچه از راه دهان وارد بدن شود به معده می‌رود و پس از آن در مَزبَله ریخته می‌شود؟

¹⁸ But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.

¹⁸ امّا چیزهایی كه از دهان بیرون می‌آید از دل سرچشمه می‌گیرد و آنهاست كه آدمی را ناپاک می‌سازد،

¹⁹ For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.

¹⁹ زیرا افكار پلید، قتل، زنا، فسق، دزدی، شهادت دروغ و افترا از دل سرچشمه می‌گیرند

²⁰ These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn’t defile the man.”

²⁰ و اینهاست، چیزهایی كه آدمی را نجس می‌سازد نه نشستن دستها قبل از غذا.»

²¹Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.

²¹ آنگاه عیسی آن محل را ترک كرده به نواحی صور و صیدون رفت.

²²Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely demonized!”

²² یک زن كنعانی كه اهل آنجا بود، پیش عیسی آمد و با صدای بلند گفت: «ای آقا، ای فرزند داوود، به من رحم كن، دخترم سخت گرفتار دیو شده است.»

²³But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”

²³ امّا عیسی هیچ جوابی به او نداد تا اینكه شاگردان جلو آمدند و از عیسی خواهش كرده گفتند: «او فریادكنان به دنبال ما می‌آید، او را بفرست برود.»

²⁴But he answered, “I wasn’t sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

²⁴ عیسی در جواب گفت: «من فقط برای گوسفندان گمشدهٔ قوم اسرائیل فرستاده شده‌ام.»

²⁵But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”

²⁵ امّا آن زن جلو آمده پیش پای عیسی به خاک افتاد و فریاد زد: «ای آقا، به من كمک كن.»

²⁶But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

²⁶ عیسی در جواب او گفت: «درست نیست كه نان اطفال را برداریم و پیش سگها بیندازیم.»

²⁷But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

²⁷ امّا آن زن جواب داد: «درست است ای آقا، امّا سگها نیز از ریزه‌های غذایی كه از سفرهٔ اربابشان می‌افتد، می‌خورند.»

²⁸Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.

²⁸ عیسی در جواب به او گفت: «ای زن، ایمان تو عظیم است. آرزوی تو بر آورده شود.» و در همان لحظه دخترش شفا یافت.

²⁹Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.

²⁹ عیسی آن محل را ترک كرده و از راه ساحل دریای جلیل به بالای كوهی رفت و در آنجا نشست.

³⁰Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,

³⁰ عدّهٔ زیادی از مردم پیش او آمدند و اشخاص چُلاق و كوران، گنگان و لنگان و بیماران دیگر را با خود آورده جلوی پاهای او می‌گذاشتند و او آنها را شفا می‌داد.

³¹so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, injured whole, lame walking, and blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.

³¹ مردم وقتی گنگان را گویا و اشخاص چُلاق را سالم و شلان را روان و كوران را بینا دیدند، تعجّب كردند و خدای اسرائیل را حمد گفتند.

³²Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”

³² عیسی شاگردان را پیش خود خوانده به آنان گفت: «دل من برای این مردم می‌سوزد. الآن سه روز است كه آنها با من هستند و دیگر چیزی برای خوردن ندارند. من نمی‌خواهم آنها را گرسنه روانه كنم، چون ممكن است در راه ضعف كنند.»

³³The disciples said to him, “Where should we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”

³³ شاگردان در جواب گفتند: «از كجا می‌توانیم در این بیابان نان كافی برای سیر كردن چنین جمعیّتی پیدا كنیم؟»

³⁴Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”

³⁴ عیسی پرسید: «چند نان دارید؟» جواب دادند: «هفت نان و چند ماهی كوچک.»

³⁵He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;

³⁵ عیسی دستور داد كه مردم روی زمین بنشینند.

³⁶and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

³⁶ آنگاه آن هفت نان و ماهیان را گرفت و پس از آنكه خدا را شكر نمود آنها را پاره كرده به شاگردان داد و شاگردان به مردم دادند.

³⁷They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.

³⁷ همه خوردند و سیر شدند و از خُرده‌های باقیمانده هفت زنبیل پر شد.

³⁸Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

³⁸ غیراز زنها و كودكان چهارهزار مرد از آن خوراک خوردند. آنگاه عیسی جمعیّت را مرخّص كرد و خود سوار قایق شده و به ناحیه مَجدَل رفت.

³⁹Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.

³⁹ آنگاه عیسی جمعیّت را مرخّص كرد و خود سوار قایق شده و به ناحیه مَجدَل رفت.
